Okay so the last two and only times that we have been to disney we went the second week in Oct 03 and the third week in Oct. 04 this year I was planning on June 4-11, now I am hearing the heat will be unbearable with the humidity and the black asphalt throughout the parks, not to mention the crowds, I checked the AAA tour book for 2003 and humidity levels were the same for Oct and June 77%, the temps were just a slight bit warmer in june but not by much. And I thought last year it was pretty crowded in Oct. Can anyone give me some insight on to go or not to go??? :confused3

Go!

It really isn't that bad. We go every year at this time. Just be prepared for afternoon rain showers, the heat and honestly the crowds really aren't that bad..especially during the week.

As for the rain.. take a poncho. The heat.. drink water, enjoy the cool indoor shows, spend time in the shops in the afternoon.. relax by the resort pool. The crowds.. have a good state of mind and an equally good sense of humor and you will be fine.

There are pros and cons to every time of the year. Just make sure you have realistic expectations and don't let the "grumpies" ;) scare ya away.

FL summer = heat...there is no avoiding it

last year it was HOT the first week in june...upper 90s...though I think it was unseasonably hot that time

after a day or so, I got used to the heat....and we took breaks in the afternoon to swim and such

when I goto florida, I like heat....makes me feel like....Im in florida ;)

It is hot but not unbearable. We went in June last year and there are plenty of places to sit in the shade and cool off if you need to. I don't even remember the heat and humidity but I do remember the magic.

I live in Texas and we have slam you in the face when you walk outside humidity in the summer. I don't remember that feeling at WDW.

There really isn't any black asphalt in the parks (just the parking lots). That wouldn't go with the theming. :rotfl:

I'm going to be there the first week of June. The heat is totally subjective. If you're from somewhere that it never gets hot you may have some trouble adjusting. However, taking it slow and drinking lots of fluids helps. Those portable mister/fan combos can be nice, too.

Every month has good/bad aspects at WDW. I just pick based on my ability to take vacation time.

It can get pretty hot but it really isnt bad. We enjoyed going in June a few times. The parks are open late, you can take midday breaks to rest up before going back out during cooler hours. We just drank lots of water and treated ourselves to lots of icees and icecream using the excuse that we were cooling off. June is still a great time to visit! :)

We were there early June last year and as a previous poster said it was unseasonably warm. You just have to be smart and do all the things you are supposed to do for extreme heat. It didn't slow us down.

I noticed the heat more than the humidity but again that's all relative. I'm from Iowa where it gets very humid and it is something I'm used to.

By the way, we are scheduled to go again in June 2006 so it's not keeping us away.

I say go and have a great time. :sunny: :sunny:

So I'm not big on heat and humidity but we were there the 3rd week in June a couple of years ago. Just when I was too hot along would come a rain shower and cool me off for the rest of the day. We just pulled out our ponchos and kept going, lots of people would leave the parks making the lines nice and short.

We are going the first week of June too.

I don't mind the heat, after all, I live in Tx...but I've gotten mixed information about the rain.

I do expect it to rain daily...it did when we went in Aug and in July...but the last two times we've gone, it would rain hard for about an hour or so and then the sun would come shining out! It was great. (you could almost set your watch by it)

However...I've heard that in June it rains for a *long* time each day. (long=3 or more hrs) Is this true?

That is an interesting question, what can you do while its raining, or if it is thundering and lighting, I don't guess you could stay in a gift shop for that long, think it would be safe to ride the train or the monorail???

All of our 7 previous trips have been in June. The rain isn't bad. Lasts about 15-20 minutes at the most. Just stay where you are when it rains. If you are in line for something, the rain will probably be over with by the time you get off the ride. It is hot, but nothing unbearable.. then again I am also from Texas.. lol. But obviously it isn't too bad or we wouldn't keep going back :rotfl:

HAVE A GREAT TRIP! :cool1:

don't forget since its a busy season the park are usually open a little later than the normal hours in october (i think) so even if you spend a couple of hours in the afternoon heat back at the room or in the pool you will still get about the same number of park hours. normal closing time is about 9 or 10 pm for the parks (except AK). i am from alabama so the heat and humidity is now worse than at home but we really try to hit the airconditioned attractions during the heat of the day. hope this helps. but... then again we are planning a trip early june so if you don't go that just means a shorter line for me! HA! just kidding, hope you have a great trip whenever you go.

I'm from southern Alberta where summers are very hot but dry. It took me more than a couple of days to adjust to the humidity when we were at WDW last June. For me, it was like wearing a heavy wet blanket and I understand why people in the tropics seem to move at a slower pace. We were at MGM for crowded star wars weekends and I found the heat coming off the asphalt mid-day pretty hard to take. Even so, I'd go back to WDW in June in a heartbeat! Just drink lots of water and get a misting fan. The parks stay open nice & late in June, so if the heat is getting to you take a break mid-day and come back for supper & the evening. I love WDW at night! :goodvibes

The rain came almost every day in the late afternoon, sometimes only for a few minutes and often accompanied by thunder & lightning. One evening at MK they shut down big thunder & splash mtn because of lightning which sent the crowds over towards space mtn. That's the only time the weather forced us out of the park. Usually we just put on a poncho and splish splash through the puddles to an indoor attraction. :umbrella: It's done raining by the time we come back outside.

We used to always go in the cooler months and I wondered what all the big fans in the waiting lines of the rides were for. The last few years, we have been going in June and I now know that the fans are used. Like previously stated, this last June was terrible. I remember walking out of the room each morning and it felt like leaning into an oven, only add humidity. Even the camcorder would not work, kept saying DEW DETECTED and shut off. The rain was as usual, the afternoon shower and a couple of days with bad lighting, so the pool had was closed during the storm. My worst experience with the rain was this last June in Epcot during one of the storms. It was raining so hard that the water came up near the seat of the stroller. SO, where or bring comfortable sandals (wet tennis shoes only mean blisters), shorts, ponchos, sunscreen, water and misting fans. As for us, we are heading back in June so regardless of all the bad parts we still include a trip each June. Get to the parks at opening, take a mid-day break, return in the evening and stay til close. The extra hours allow for a good break without missing half a day at the parks.

We have gone to WDW in June 6 times, and will be there a 7th time this coming June.

Sure it CAN rain that long, but that isn't the norm. It is normally a brief thunderstorm, with very heavy rain. Then it clears and everything is fine again.

We are going in June this year as well. The heat is what makes it Florida for me :sunny: I think the key is planning. Make sure you have light colored cotton (easily drying) clothes, wear a hat and sunglasses, don't carry too much around the park, drink plenty of water, load up on the sunscreen and take breaks when you need to! As for the rain?? On our trip in June 2000, the first time it rained, we put on our ponchos and got ready to face the rain...then it STOPPED! So after that...my hubby said "we don't need no stinkin' ponchos!" :smooth: And we didn't use them for the rest of the trip! :)

Go! Early June is a lovely time to go. Many school systems throughout the country (with the exception of the South) are still in session. So crowds are moderate. The weather is not that bad, really. We've gone in June several times and it's quite pleasant. In the upper 80's usually - and yes it's humid, and hot but it's Florida and that's what pools are for.
