The third time we're considering rescheduling and this is starting to feel like the trip we'll never go on and I'm feeling some big-time angst over it, but no one around me gets it so maybe some of you would like to give me your two cents? šŸ˜†

Our trip is scheduled for two weeks from now (arriving 6/23-6/26) and we can either keep it or move it to our kids' fall break which would be 9/20-9/23. Adults are vaccinated, kids are 6 & 8, overall I'm not particularly concerned about safety in the current scenario but we do continue to take precautions due to the kids, so if indoor spaces are crowded we will definitely ditch whatever it is in favor of an outdoor activity. And when I planned this, I originally thought it would be less crowded in June because of the heat and the covid restrictions but they've rolled back enough already that it sure does seem to be filling the parks back up, without any extra capacity for those crowds, and of course all schools in the country will be out at that point.

Pros for June: Is in two weeks! It's my birthday! (a big one, ha) Originally thought might (BIG might) be less crowded than September and I'm not terribly confident on that prediction at this point watching ride times this week.
Cons for June: Lots of things still not open/happening, including family favorites like AK playground and scheduled character meet & greets. No Fastpass which is only an issue if it is very crowded but just generally we're not going to be willing to stand in 30+ minute lines for everything or even most things. Feeling the need to ditch to the outdoors every time it gets crowded feels like it might end up taking a lot of the fun out of vacation.

Pros for September: Gives us more time to see restrictions change and things open back up. Fastpass might be back. We might chill out a bit more about indoor activities, who can guess.
Cons for September: It's yet another reschedule! Also, we could be wrong, it could be even more crowded and we end up regretting not just going in June.

Kids say they are happy just hanging out at Beach Club pool if it turns out to be super crowded but it's a lot of $$$ to just hang at the resort so mostly I wish I had a crystal ball.

We’ve always preferred the fall over summer. Like you, I wouldn’t go to a Disney to totally hang out at the pool. September might be a tad cooler but we always thought crowds were a little Less. I do think things will def be more open in September along with more restaurants, possibly fewer mask restrictions. Guess I’m not really much help because there are pros and cons for both. We are headed to the magic next week as that week just works for us this year. Good luck making your decision!

After writing this all out I felt like realistically I was leaning towards moving it to September and then I started seeing the pictures from Epcot rope drop and went ahead and canceled June. I know kids are low risk but I can't bring myself to put them in a situation that feels potentially dangerous for unvaccinated people just because they're low risk. Hoping September brings more things to eat up crowds or maybe even slightly lower crowds if we're lucky, with lots of people wanting to go once the 50th celebration starts a few weeks later.

Though one of my dates is already not available at Beach Club in September, the 20th which is a pretty random Monday as far as I know.

I would agree Sept over June is a better choice. Covid is still around and many are not yet vaccinated, so waiting until later in the year is a good idea. Not sure if driving or flying, but you will clearly interact with other people going to/from Disney, so even if you think the parks are 'safer', you still have to get there.

Sept weather is also cooler then June and likely somewhat lower crowds since most schools will be back in session by then, so even if covid wasn't an issue, I would prefer Sept for more pleasant weather. Hard to say if the 50th celebration will mean larger crowds. Every time we have been to Disney in the past, they seemed to be celebrating something. It is mostly a marketing thing so Disney has something to advertise. Not sure if there will be any new rides, but doubt that alone will make more people go.

Aside from holiday periods, any month is better than a summer month. Of your choices, late September is best. Definitely not June.
