June crowds at Disneyland

I am planning to go to Disneyland for 2-3 consecutive days between June 19-24. I also saw online that they have the new Star Wars stuff opening 'Summer 2019' (but for Disney that can mean memorial day or August???). Are there any more specific dates for expected opening??

Will the parks be miserably crowded that time frame?

I have been to WDW many times (worked there for years too) but this will be my first (and possibly only) trip to Disneyland so hoping to see as much as I can. I just really hate very large crowds (and we know thats what Disney is known for, specifically when tied to new rides opening like the Star Wars area).

We have flights booked but I'm willing to cancel and go another time (even next summer) if the Star Wars stuff is opening in early June.

Nothing official, but the AP blockout calendar has created speculation that SW:GE will open June 21 or 22

There will likely be extra cost preview events prior to the official opening.

I expect the crowds to be epic, and I'll be there...

Is it likely that early June will be less crowded than usual, because people are waiting for Star Wars land to open? I wonder if that is a good time to sneak in a trip before the chaos begins.

So maybe it'll be up to the reservation gods...whichever dates I can get the rooms I need, I'll assume is going to be less crowded. I've found the concierge room availability at The Grand Californian is a good indicator of crowds.

This thread has good info about SWGE speculation and trip planning for summer 2019: Surviving Summer 2019 at Disneyland!. For the OP: crowds this summer are up to anyone's guess, but I would not put off a trip because of the crowds. June might be iffy, only because there hasn't been an official opening date announced yet and because there will have to be a "break in" period once SWGE opens. But later in the summer might be a good time to visit because Disney will be prepared for huge crowds, which means longer hours, way more staffing, rides running at full capacity, restaurants fully staffed and fully stocked, etc.

Aloha,

Beware of "June Gloom". A high grey overcast from the fog inversion layer. Lucky to get any sunlight by late afternoon. AMs are chilly and cloudy.

June Gloom can be your friend! We love it -- you can get so much done without getting overheated and sweaty before the clouds burn off and the day gets hot. Just make sure to bring a light jacket or hoodie for the mornings and evenings (especially if you will be waiting for parades or shows -- it gets chilly quickly when you aren't walking from ride to ride).

Thanks!

But I truely hate crowds enough that I would rather put off going to another year. I've never been to Paris Disneyland or the ones in China so maybe I'll just go there instead hahaha.

We tried to go over spring break (which is March for our area) but airfare would have been insanely expensive.

For now, I'll just keep our fli
