June 6-13 Trip Report. Sisters, Misters, Rain and Blisters--The Whole Story *Long*

Wow you have a lot of patience!!! Hello its Florida of course if you don't put sunscreen on you are going to get Burnt, she should have brought a kind that she would have been able to use. And the eating thing would have drove me CRAZY!!!

The girls seemed really good though having four of them and no real "issues". We are taking six kids in August, I hope our trip goes as smoothly (with the children I mean). What a wonderful person you are to let these children experience the magic of Disney with you!!! I didn't get to read your other trip report when you went with your daughter, but I am glad she is feeling better.

thank you for posting that great report, i hope your freind has recovered from her sun poisoning, it was so great to have the report all in one place, rather than searching the board for the next day,

Another great report. You handled Diane much better than I would have. Did she ever thank you for taking her? Did she know how much she saved by not having to pay for the hotel? She should have bought you dinner and a nice gift.::yes::

figured there was no way that Fantasmic would be showing so we made our way back to BCV stopping briefly at some countries along the way. No Fantasmic this trip unfortunately.

Fantasmic was canceled this Thursday. I stood in the "Dinner Package" line for about 1 hour when they canceled it at 8:30 pm. Maybe you knew this but in case you didn't, you made a good choice not to venture over to MGM.

I think you should go with those YOU want to go with next trip. Personally, can't imagine hauling others along and then having to adjust plans to fit their whims.
Take a trip to WDW JUST FOR YOURSELF sometime with a couple other family members.
I don't think it was the heat or the rain that did you in....it was the company!!
Great Report.
WDW ON JUNE 24::yes:: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Hey Jennymouse
Just in the nick of time....I GOT the Bodyglide...sure hope it works as well for us as it did for you!! Thanks for the "inside" scoop :)
Only a couple more days......YEAH!!!!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi Jenifer.

Great report- sounded like a great time. Next time you need volunteers to tag along for the price of airfare, tix, and food give me a holler. Me and my 2 boys eat really, really fast :)

Blessings :)

trip report.
I am going w/ my almost 13 yo son for our first trip to WDW tomorrow. Also my brother, his girlfirend, my friend and her two sons will be coming along but they are all staying at the AmeriHost. I think by coincidence they all won vacation packages thru one of those timeshare thingies. Anyway, I will be staying at the CBR. I was also wondering about Bodyglide, but you have answered that question. My next question, although too late to change now , when it rains does it get cold or just muggy and wet. I live in L.A. where it is gloomy here in June but not rainy. I pray this doesn't ruin our trip. Next time I might have to snatch Jr. out of school for a week.

Also, you are a VERY sweet person to put up with the likes of Miss Diane. Bet she wouldn't be eating another thing if she had waited on me to fix it after those remarks. Maid service is not part of the package!!

Blessings to you and your daughter.

Mona:cool:

thank you for sharing, it was wonderful, and I kept putting myself in your shoes experiencing everything, taking notes, for our first trip - I esp thank you for the Ohana report, I was thinking back and forth, I've decided not to do the $50 per person Lua, but I want a lil of that fun!! I hope my dd going alone will survive, I'm not able to be that generous and let her bring a friend, I wish I could!! You're wonderful

(also LOL and I'm buying the bodyglide - dh uses vasoline when he runs, but I think it wouldnt last long, and I was worried about chafing!! THANKS)

wow - what patience! another fun read - one thing about yur trip reports, I don't get very jealous !
(glad the bodyglide saved you this time - tho your description of that moleskin fiasco was too funny)

Thanks Jennymouse! Great report and I loved how you put it all on one post, I hate looking for the next part.

As always, enjoyed reading about your trip. You are a very kind, giving lady.

Jenny, I think you are going to just send me the names and qualifications of all the people you want to take on these trips with you. I am not nearly as nice as you are, and I'll weed through them for you. You are simply TOO nice!

Glad you and Skye got to go.

I did a google search and found bodyglide's website. It's under sternoff or something like that. They have a store locator function you can use. I see REI carries it and I drove past about 4 of those last weekend in Mpls. AGH!!!

But I see the sports store about an hour away carries it and my DS is headed to that town for a golfing sojourn on Monday so I'll put it on his 'to-do' list.

My thighs thank you...........

I remember the Trip report from 2002. I cannot believe your friend refused to put on sunscreen. Yellow ooze from blisters--ewwww!!

I hope that you can finally have a nice trip--soon.

mskani, they're all good trips, (well, except the one with my DD that year) I just have to put the drama parts in too to try and keep them interesting.
;)

Great report! You are an angel! I swear you don't know people till you do Disney with them! We went to Disneyland with my SIL/BIL & their kids. We normally get along GREAT, hang out together lots, etc., but going to DL with them was a NIGHTMARE! Never again!!!

My mom eats super slow too. I can totally relate to that situation! And going to Florida in June and not using a bit of sunscreen! Just plain nuts!

I used this as a good opportunity to reapply the Bodyglide. If anyone saw a woman who looked as if she was rubbing deodorant on the insides of her thighs on dark rides all over WDW it was me but it wasn’t deodorant, okay.

I have no idea what Bodyglide is, but I swear this is one of the funniest things I have ever read!

Thank you for the great trip report. Your granddaughter is lucky to have you for a grandmother. It is a really neat thing that you took her to Disney World.

On a completely unrelated subject, me and my family are willing to be adopted by you if you need additional grandchildren to take with you to Disney World. We promise not to eat slowly. And we'll bring the Bodyglide (whatever that is). :D

Really wonderful trip report. You listed the exact reasons why I never go in the summertime - heat and rain. Makes Disney a bit less appealing when your in it. Sorry to hear that Diane is suffering but she did it to herself. I have roscea which essentially gives me sensitive skin (I'll turn purple in 15 minutes without sunscreen). There are various sunscreens for sensitive skin both over the counter and by prescription that can work for her but she has to use them. I too am a somewhat slow eater. I've learned in life that I have some stomach acid problems and if I eat to fast, I can get both stomach aches or acid reflux (neither one are fun). Diane may have these problems and not want to admit it to anyone and may have to eat a little slower.

On a side note, sorry to see that you had to do all work on the trip. It just didn't seem fair. I don't know if you have ever done a solo trip but you may want to try it once, its truly great.

Anyway, my real question for you is....WHERE did you get the "Bodyglide" stuff? Sounds like something I could use too!!!

I'm also interested in this product. I've always worn soft bike shorts under my dresses and skirts to keep from chafing with all the walking at Disneyworld. This works very well. Do you use this product with shorts? I don't seem to have a problem when I wear regular shorts or slacks.

Also, kudos to you for being a great sport about all the "small" sacrifices you made during the trip. Seems to me Diane could have helped out/accomodated the group a little more than she did.

You are right about taking a trip "just for you"...and Skye. Take her out of school in October or November (NOT Thanksgiving week) and enjoy the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT as well as all the other special things going on at the other parks. It will not be a big thing if she works on what she can schoolwork-wise before the trip...we did this with our kids 2 weeks in the Fall every year and 2 weeks in the Spring every year. We had a few go-rounds with a teacher or two...but these same teachers in later years came around to our side as they watched our kids' developments over the course of time.

It becomes impossible to take kids out like this when they hit High School...and even Junior High. What grade will Skye be in come Fall?

Thanks for taking the time to write your report. I really enjoyed reading it! I especially liked that it was all in one thread - making it very easy to read in order! :)
