June 5, 2016 - Magic Goes to England, Ireland, Scotland and France

Thanks I will have to check it out! When time gets a little closer we can see if what people are doing and maybe make some connections for traveling to the port.

This sounds like a great plan - ride-sharing definitely saves some cash and gets the party started early!

My family will be there, including my parents (48, 51) and us three girls (24, 22, and sister turning 21 onboard)!! We are all really excited!

Welcome! I'm Cindy D., traveling with DH and our two sons (older one turning 20 onboard). We are doing this to celebrate the younger's high school graduation. I think there will be quite a few celebrations.

So I've been doing some work on our family tree and was looking at a ship manifest document for my great grandfather when I realized that he sailed from Liverpool in August 1906 - and we'll be in Liverpool! I'll definitely have to take a moment to think of him as we'll be in the same general area as he was 110 years ago.

In 2010 we met my 3rd cousin in Helsinki while we were on the Baltic cruise - it was a highlight of that trip. I know others meet distant relatives while cruising, too - just wondering if any of you all might have a chance to meet family while we're sailing with Mickey.

We booked opening day-I'm not sure if I signed up here or not-will need to catch up on everything! Do most of you have room assignments? I would like to upgrade-but everything is in gty.

Hello everyone! We are excited for this cruise. It will me, my husband, our mothers, and our two children (10, & 7). Please be patient with me as I try to navigate through this Disboard. I am not use to it at all. But I'm sure I will catch on quickly.

Just booked! All categories were GTY so I chose the highest ocean view...maybe we'll be upgraded? :worship: Anyhow, we are Susan and Bob, from PA, platinum and gold, we were married 6/2/13 on the Magic in the Mediterranean at the age of 62! Unforgettable. So looking forward to getting to know everyone. Our last cruise was Southern Carribean and we met so many people, made so many non Disney shore adventures with each other. I gave up my Jan Southern Carribean for this one. I have to figure out how to post my picture....ugh. :eeyore:

What dos GTY mean? Our TA gave use a room number.

GTY means you are guaranteed a room in that catergory or higher. Usually happens when almost sold out. But just like our Mediterranean cruise, people do cancel and rooms become open.

Thanks! I don't cruise frequently enough to know the lingo, lol. I'm so excited for this one!

Welcome to the Meet Thread! We got our room assignment when we booked - we have "our" cabin so our TA was able to snag it for us on opening day.

Welcome! We'll help you navigate through here - glad you found us! The Meet threads are a great place to get acquainted pre-sailing AND figure out all the stuff related to our specific itinerary (and cruising in general). Have y'all cruised with Disney before? There are several seasoned cruisers already here so if you have questions, please ask - chances are someone else has the same question (or had it at one time themselves). When we first started cruising in 2005, the DISBoards helped me so much in learning what to expect so we wouldn't waste our time onboard figuring things out. Gosh, that made me think - we've been cruising for 10 years now - wow! Our boys were 8 and 9 when we first sailed.

Welcome Susan and Bob! I'm Cindy D. (I'll be 52), traveling with DH Gary (who will be 60 when we sail), and boys Nathan (turning 20 on board) and Zach (18 when we sail). Southern Caribbean is on my list of places to sail. wow - how fun to be married on the ship - we love the Magic so much! You got off the Magic when we got on in Barcelona.

I'm so happy to see more folks finding their way here!

Two of our four passports have arrived! We haven't heard anything from the Passport Office regarding the boys needing anything additional in terms of documentation, and the check has cleared the bank, so we are hoping that theirs will come next week. Three weeks and three days from when we mailed in our applications for me and DH.

Terry and Hal, welcome!

Only 58 weeks left until this amazing cruise!!!

Thank you nzdisneymom for the link. Will be looking into this.

Hi, everyone! Howard and I have decided to cancel this cruise. It turns out that there are so many reasons it is not the optimal use of our vacation time next year: (1) The passage of time has not made the cost any less offensive to me, based on my estimated budgeting of airfare, excursions, and on-board spending; we can easily do a two-week vacation moving around those cities for about 1/2 the cost; (2) Howard may not be able to take two-weeks vacation next year in June, depending on when and where he is working at that time; (3) the trip conflicts with Special Olympics Summer Games, and Howard and I have been on the organizing committee for 20 years and just don't want to miss it.

I hope you all have a wonderful trip! Happy planning!

I love this cruise schedule so I will be calling my TA to book. I am hoping they have a day trip to Disneyland Paris since the on board time is 10:45pm. Royal Caribbean does cruises to Le Harve that have 10-11 hour excursions (7a off shore and 9pm onboard times) to Paris so DVC should not have a problem with a day trip to DLP since it is only another 30mins from Paris. I went 2 years ago and LOVED it! Such a pretty castle.

Keenercam, sorry to see you go, but certainly understand.

Everyone, because keenercam is leaving us, we're moving the Roll Call list and other info that usually appears in the first post of a thread to the second post - that's where we'll have the updated Roll Call and other information posted as planning continues - for things like onboard Meets, Fish Extender info, and other relevant information. I updated the Roll Call for those sailing through today, so if I've missed you on the list, please send me a PM to add you. Thanks.
