June 27, 2007 10 Night - The Rodney Dangerfield of Med Cruises

Check out Rick Steves Europe through the back door!:cool1:

We are already planning laundry on embarkation day, as we will have been in europe for a week+ before we leave port!:woohoo:

We got Rick Steve's France and Spain books. We'll check those out.

I read some posts regarding laundry, I should plan on bringing my own supplies I guess? We'll see you in in the laundry room!:)

Well, I've been a little out of the loop, but I'm back. We're still headed out on June 23 to London then fly into Barcelona on the 27th. We booked excursions, but since we couldn't get all we wanted are trying to arrange a few private tours. We could only get Palo on the first night, better than not getting it at all!!!! We are all getting so excited. See you on the boat!

We're getting excited too. Trip plans are made, it's down to packing plans and miscellaneous details.

We got Palo one night as well. I was hoping to do a Palo brunch or tea. We haven't done that before and it sounds like a fun thing to do. I wonder if some spots are available when we embark.

Hey! They (books) are sitting on my kitchen counter as well!

I would either buy Detergent in Barcelona before you board or by it on board, do not take it from home! (another thing to pack!)

Only bringing short dresses...no long gowns. And not a lot of them.

Thanks for the website of "tiny" packing things!! I love that you can get all you need in miniature sizes. I ordered lots of things, exactly $20, so no shipping.

Yay! And.... if anyone needs aspirin, tylenol, handi wipes, detergents, sunscreen, crystal light, bandaids, blistex, little shampoos, or immodium.... I'm your gal. :cool1:

Has anyone booked /priced transportation from the airport to the city center.?We really aren't interested in three trains, a bus, and a hike with 87 pieces of luggage.:rotfl2: I'm thinking one taxi to AC Barcelona Hotel.

Hey, we're down to 6 weeks. Has anyone been keeping up on the Tranatlantic crossing. Apparently a rough time with high seas, cancelled deck parties and gale force winds. I hope they get it all out of the systems so we can have tourquoise waters and sunny skies!

RAYJL, you'r just a wealth of information. :) Ok, question is: where can we get good spanish wine in Barcelona for both before and after the trip. Can you bring your own wine to the ship?

Thanks!

A good Spanish Wine, Juan I want to go to Valencia!:lmao: :cool1:  :rotfl: :dance3: :sad2:

Ahh, finally got our cabin assigned :goodvibes ! Deck 5 5502! Was hoping for Deck 6 but I think we will give 5502 a shot. Gets mixed reviews but at least we are not next to a cargo hold or the refueling area.;) Been there, done that!

Ordered some Euros from Bank of America, got new rolling duffle luggage and booked rental to drive to airport and back when we return. Cheaper than parking 20 days at airport ;)! Also good practice getting all the luggage in a economy car for when we get the rental in Spain!

HI EVERYBODY!

It's been quiet on here, I guess everyone is watching the first cruisers go over....

I can't believe only one more month before we leave for BARCELONA!!! 30 days from today! Seems like it took so long! And still so much left to do!

micluvr:sad2:

Ours took about 12 weeks. We put in for them right AFTER the new rules took effect so it took longer.

How long has it been?

You can check the status of them here:

There is soooo much to do. I'm trying to finalize our private tours etc. I keep thinking of things I need to make sure and pack. I guess it's time to start making the packing list. I got my almost 5 y.o. new dress pants, jacket and tie (he looks so cute). I have to do the same for my 13 y.o. boy. Daughter needs a new dress too, but Grandma is supposed to be handling that. We're going to see Wicked in London on June 26, so they'll have a couple of times to wear their fancy clothes. We're headed to San Fran June 1-5, so when we get back it will be time to get busy!!!!! It's going to be great, if we get there!!!!

Nope not yet! Maybe today, maybe Tuesday, maybe I will head downtown to the Tip Oneil Federal building toting 4 yamering kids 2 weeks before the trip!:scared1:

The first Disney Med cruise leaves today!!!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!! I'm glad we'll get to hear their experiences before we leave. I'm sure they'll have some great advice, at least I hope so!

Well, there's no time like the present. So what's on your packing list? DH just got a new high definition video camera. He's so excited. I was thinking the tide to go sticks might be a good thing to throw in.

Based on some reviews I've been reading, I finally broke down and bought totable blankets for the plane, some eye blinders to help us sleep, a clothesline for the balcony for bathing suits, etc., various odds and ends. My favorite purchase has been a Casio Exilim s600 camera. Takes video and pictures and at the same time! :thumbsup2 I took it to Disneyworld last week for the flower and garden show, shot about 200 pictures, 10 videos about 5 minutes each and with the 2 GB card, STILL have PLENTY of room for more! I was thinking of getting a camcorder but this really takes excellent video. I hooked it up to the TV for playback and it looked great.

Karen, I don't know about the tide sticks but I've seen the cubes that come 2 to a pack and you break it up a little when you put it in the wash. THose work great, I used them for my last cruise.
