June 23rd 2012 - Commandeering the Disney Fantasy - Pirates back in the Caribbean

Just back from a day in Orlando. We took a detour over to Jetty Park to watch the Dream leave on the Inaugural. Dave and I were just to the right of the BonVoyage on Jetty Park. The Dream sounded her horn twice as they passed the sign. They had a celebration (Disney an Port Canavarel) at Jetty Park. The usual DJ type of entertainment. They mentioned there might be pix on both DCL and Port Canaveral sites. WFTV had their chopper up so the coverage may be on WFTV.com. She is a beautiful -- and big -- ship. I'll try to post some pix tomorrow.

I heard horror stories from some of my friends in the DC area, taking more than an hour to go one mile. I hope your husband is home safe and sound very soon.

Yeah, I've lived here all my life and NEVER seen anything like it. Jeff walked in at 11:30. That was an 8 hour commute. I have another friend who is still stuck on the Dulles Toll Road. It is insanity.

OH MY!! I hope he is home (and WARM) now!

My dad lived in DC during their record setting storm in the 90's. The pics he sent me showed crazy amounts of snow in front of his apartment.

He did! He got home at 11:30. Only took 8 hours. Guess we should be grateful since there are a ton of people still stuck out there!

Ahhhh! The Blizzard of 96! I was 24 and my roommate and I were snowed in for the whole week. We just had some friends walk over and we pretty much had a week long party. :)

I don't think that anyone in my group will want to play rugby (I fear pain of all kinds) but we will cheer along. :)

Still waiting for my husband. He left work at 3:30 this afternoon and it is 10:45pm and he still isn't home. Closer, at least.

I know one person left work at 4:45 and just walked in door (11:30), like 8 miles.

OPM let us go 2 hrs early. I left the PTO around 2pm and walked in my front door at 2:30, literally minutes before the storm hit.

I remember that one. We had been in our house for 3 months and were snowed in for a week. It was 4 days before they plowed our street.

Of course, we all thought that was the big one until last year!!

Rob was looking for that "face plant" photo yesterday

That was his big touchdown!

Oh, and Bob.....orange won :goodvibes

I came home from work and Bob called me a hooker. I think he should be back on solid foods by the time we sail ;)

Did Bob need some pain medication last night? :rotfl:

Major ketchup to do:guilty:
Just starting on the last page for now.

:headache:Glad he made it home ok. It got bad real fast:sad2:

Oh yeah, remember that blizzard:scared1:
I'm sure we had that much snow when I lived in Rochester NY, but they were much better prepared to handle it.
They have gotten better since then. We've haven't been snowed in like that (5+ days) since.

That would be me. 3:20 Tysons Corner to Mount Vernon (23 miles) starting at 4:15. It took one of my coworkers 6:40 Tysons - Herndon (about 13 miles)

:sad2:sorry M
Glad you got home safe:flower3:

Or a handbag.

Nice face, Mr. Sk8.

At 12:45 I got an e-mail from one of my staff who I ordered out of office at 4:15, she still wasn't home

Oh! that would not fly where i work, i'm basically lying atop my patients, and giving meds to hurting patients within minutes of when i see them, can't stand seeing patients in pain,
:thumbsup2 that's good to hear
Wish every ER was that way:sad2:

That's awesome! Did you post on that thread and I just didn't notice you? Surely not... LOL

Oh I'm having a lot of mixed feelings right now.
about 17yrs and 1 hour ago.... my baby girl was born. Yes, Ruby is now 17... I have mixed feelings about that but primarily shock. How can my itty bitty baby be seventeen years old now? It can't be... :confused3
My DS turned 17 in December and I feel the same way. Especially after looking at some home video a few days ago:sad2:
Some days he's great and some days not:rolleyes:
Some days I want him to just grow up and others not:confused3

Happy Birthday to Ruby. I know the feeling. Jared will be 18 :scared1: this summer and after he finishes school next year, he wants to join the Marines. I know I'll be proud, but it scares me to death.
My Mom had a very hard time when my brother joined the army years ago. So proud of him too, but we did breathe so much easier when he was home.
:grouphug:

We still have our menus from 1988. At that time it wasn't adults only. Our girls loved it. They were 12 and 14 when we went and now they are ... OK old enough not to want their ages published. Guess I'll have to go look at the photo album from '88. Wonderful memories, thanks.

Barbara
Oh my kids would love to go. Especially my son. He loves trying new food and can't wait to be old enough for Palo.
My daughter is much more timid about her food, but likes the dressing up.

Hello Cruisers,

We just booked this morning. :goodvibes

My DH (GDAC) mentioned the cuise to me last night and when I woke up this morning and saw that the temp. outside was 1 degree I thought I had better get on the phone with Disney.

We are from MN and traveling with our two DDs. Our oldest will be 13 and youngest 11 when we sail.

We are looking forward to meeting new friends and seeing past cruising friends Buckifan and family.

Hey
Welcome aboard:cheer2:

My DD Kelly wiil be 14 by next summer:goodvibes

Stopping in to say hi. Looking forward to a great cruise with you all. Last time, the Mrs (Mrs Scooby) did all the talking and planning. I told her this time, I'd be in on it too. Might even dress up.

:cool1:

:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone - I am the other half of LaRue just stopping by to say hi. We haven't sailed with Disney since 2006, so we will have to get familiar with them again

We live in Plymouth, MN. I think this is the first time we have been a cruise with another family from MN. Our girls are excited to see there will other girls are around there age.
Hey

Happy Birthday to your daughter Bip !!

Hi everyone. We're booked on this cruise also. It's me, Bev and hubby Lou. DD Lindsay and her boyfriend Brian. Can't wait to cruise again with my old and dear friends and looking forward to making new friends.

Tina, I'm still a chicken :scared1: and not doing the Aqua Duck:eek:

Bev :)
Welcome aboard:cheer2::cheer2:

Hello all,
I realize Caro does most of the postings, but I occasionally come out of hiding.

We told Alana and Kathryn today and they are very excited (as are Caro and myself) to see some of their friends.
hey Andrew
Darren came out of lurkdom too:laughing:

Wow you guys have been busy. :)
:rotfl:trying to ketchup now myself

Thank you all for the warm Welcome Aboard messages!

It sure is fun thinking about a tropical trip when it is soooo cold outside.
:thumbsup2freezing here in VA

Just told the girls last night that we are booked! They were VERY excited!
:yay:Looking forward to seeing you guys again:goodvibes

Hey Bob and Katie, Rob here. Deanna gave me a makeover. Been so long since I was on here I had to get a new identity (guess who picked that one?) So glad you guys are coming along. We had such a great time the first time around, and this group is awesome. Great to hang around with. Just don't let them talk you into going to the bars after hours. Bad things happen to good people. Anyway, psyched to be sailing with you again.

P.S. way to go Gophers. Anyone who beats Michigan is one of my favorite teams!
Ha:laughing:
Love the name:thumbsup2
Would have made my DH MrScooby if I could:rolleyes1

Hey there - Paul, DD Lori & I are excited to be sailing w/so many of the crew again - and I started my diet/exercise program the day after I booked!!! I told Paul that all I need for motivation is a pirate cruise!!
Looking forward to meeting the new pirates/cruisers also.
Diet started here as well:thumbsup2
So far so good, but it's always easier in the beginning:rolleyes:

Hi there :wave2:

We booked this cruise on the Magic last week. When I booked it I knew this had to be a fun cruise because all the oceanview rooms were gone! :scared1:

We are cat 10 on deck 9. I have not unpacked, so I can't tell you our stateroom #, but we are on the back of the boat.

Our group is: Me (Tiffany), DH (Doug), DS (Grady - 11 at time of cruise, but will turn 12 June 28) and DD (Megan - 9 on cruise)

We booked with friends, but I'll let her post about her family.

Well - I'm off to tackle the mountain of :laundy: and catch up on 400+ emails.
Welcome aboard:cheer2::cheer2:

Brendan & I will be coming as well!
Yay Chrissy:thumbsup2

We just got home from the Wonder 2 day Cruise to Nowhere, with our friends
our4Fosterkids, and other dissers....Had to take advantage of the rebooking discount, and of course we desiced to join the Pirates again. Had so much fun on the EBPC with you guys and can not wait to do it again.

I have requested to join the facebook page. Please accept Sauni Rae Anderson Dain.

Can I put a suggestion in for any photo sharing site this time...? Can it be a bit easier to use, such as Shutterfly... There are spots for discussions and other things too. I had a heck of a time this the other site.

Welcome aboard:cheer2::cheer2:

I am hoping that's Buckifan's man celebrating his victory and not just running out of steam :rotfl2:

Ouch! There goes the skin on the knees and elbows. In my defense (back me up Pete), a touchdown in Rugby means you actually have to "touch" the ball down on the ground. Although I don't think that means me. I was probably glad to fall down and stay there for a while.

Like 90% of everyone else we got a verandah cabin - and learned a little about the few inside cabins with "Magical" digital portholes! Yeah.... they have INSIDE cabins with a digital feed outside that also flashes other views - ocassionally with our favorite characters and so forth! See the quote below: I was so intrigued that I sort of wanted one of those - however they were completely sold out!!!! No surprise there!
We were on the Magic this past summer and the inside rooms on the Dream for this summer were all booked too. Lucked out for the Fantasy and have one inside room and a verandah room close by. Turned out to be not much more than putting the whole family in a verandah room and much more space.
But a stateroom tour will be cool to see all the new rooms:woohoo:

The Jets are loosing. Can't bare to watch. Packers won!
Yep, my DH was not happy about that either:sad2:

Aside from that - we played the "How Well Do you Know Your Spouse" game - and we WON! I earned a bottle of champaigne and 2 passes for the spa. I'm not so much a spa type so I had Alicia go with one of her girlfriends. In the spa they ran into several other friends and they litterally had a long enjoyable time "talkin' story" as they say among Hawaiians....

I won't TELL you about some of my "revealing" responses to those "spicey" game questions... as I'll leave it to other DIS friends to share and GLOAT over... and yeah ... it was mildly embarassing....
Congrats:cheer2:
Yeah, some of those questions are things most of us don't normally share:laughing:
Darren is not much for a spa either:confused3

I think the list is correct as of now. I am new to THIS group and do not know your first names so let me know if the list is not complete. Thanks!
Doing a great job with so many added on in such a short while:thumbsup2
It will calm down soon.

Thought I would introduce myself. I am the DD of VillagesBarbara who was not able to sail on the EBPC cruise. I told my parents and sister they were not allowed to sail without me again so here I am. Had to twist my DH's arm a little to book another cruise when we have the Double Dip on the Dream in August. But I pulled out the making memories with the family card, so he agreed. Looking forward to meeting everyone my sister and parents have talked about for the past few years. I haven't sailed since 5/07, so I really need to get on the ship again.
Welcome aboard:cheer2::cheer2:

Well both teams I was rooting for lost today. Not that I really even knew the teams- i just pick them on what players I have not heard of. My philosophy is if I don't know who the players are- they must not get in trouble a lot and then, you're my kinda team.;)
:rotfl::thumbsup2
I only watch if I have money on the games:rolleyes1

I had to share this image - I was looking for a particular image to go with something else when I stumbled across this - and it just left me with a nice warm DCL vacation sensation... this may seem wierd but ... here it is...

holidays-in-april.jpg

:happytv:
So cute:thumbsup2
My DD13 will still walk holding hands with her Dad and I. If no one is watching:rolleyes:
Not sure how much longer that will last.

Talk like this has me somewhat "concerned" about the future - given I have 2 little girls (7 and 9). I listen very intently to the comments and stories of what others are encountering with thier girls who are approaching and in thier teens. Perhaps I am being optimistic in thinking I have a good dialog with my kids - andassuming that they will respect my guidance and heavy handed suggestions in the future about boys and everyhting else?

Uggg:headache:
I need that guide:upsidedow

Yep the M's will be there. My parents are in Rio de Janiero this week going onto to Chile, Argentina and Antartica the next few weeks. I am afraid the trips I plan are too tame for them LOL!

Love how much your parents travel:thumbsup2
How was that big cruise they took? The really long one.

Speaking as the father of a DD who will be 15
Well, I didn't play last time, and I think my wife (Mrs Scooby) will pitch a fit if I do it this time with my new hip, but I am experienced in sports officiating. If I can't sneak into the game, I could ref, if you want.

Losing track of the ages
Forgot the Kelly would be 15 for this cruise:rolleyes1
And yes I will get the doctor and your physical therapist to gang up on you if you damage the new hip:headache::rolleyes:

I've been teaching Teen Decision Making for 15 years....have a movie night with your teen and show her "Riding in Cars with Boys" and discuss how to extrapolate out decisions BEFORE making them so she can play the odds for the future she wants.... I mean, there's more to the curriculum, but that's a good start!
:thumbsup2
Hard because they think they know it all

As the mother of a DD who will be 13 on the cruise and will be hanging out with your DD, I think we better be worried! ;)
:laughing::thumbsup2

Coral....sounds like my kids. Drew is in his HS Marching band, and that is really his "thing". Kylie, also not interested in boys at all, loves sports. She plays club soccer, travel basketball and softball. She is trying to work field hockey in there, but it conflicts with soccer season too much.
Our Andrew is in marching band too in HS. He plays clarinet. Really amazing how well he plays without any real practice:rolleyes:

That would be great. Last time we had a lot of fun. It's a short game. Are you familiar with rugby?
Darren has an amazing knack for remembering sports rules. I've seen him quote from the Little League rule book by memory. He can be up on the rules in no time...the thing is how much do you want to go by the rules:rolleyes1;)

Interesting review of the Dream (borrowed from another thread)....These new ships sound amazing to me:goodvibes
:thumbsup2cool review

In a general way, but I'm not up on all the rules. I'm pretty good at learning these things and as a general rule I watch the officials in sporting events as much, if not more than, the actual athletes (wife says I'm odd that way). So, I should be good by next year. Still, hopefully I can play this time. That'd be my first choice.
Let's see what Dr Ain says:rolleyes1

Popping in.

Hi to all!
Back from the Wonder's Cruise to Nowhere and happy to say we had a blast going nowhere! We also booked 6 cabins for this cruise - 2 5B verandah's and 4 11a inside cabins thanks to Tai and Des :) Our friends also booked a verandah. Looks like we will be 15 adults and 4 kids this time.
I know I'll never be able to keep up on here, but will do my best trying!

Looks like we are a gonna be joining all ya pirates!!!!! It will be myself, my roomie (Misti) and the 2 grandchildren Dominique will be turning 12 on the cruise and Faith will have turned 5. Have done many Disney cruises now and we are doing a back to back with this one. Staying on afterwards to do the Eastern. Our last cruise was the Wonder NYE cruise (eastern) and had a blast. Getting ready to move to Alaska for the next 2 years, so will be more than ready for the warm tropical breezes of the Carib.
Welcome aboard:cheer2:

Our problem is girls going after him..... He is extra respectful of females. :goodvibes
He won't even be friends with boys that talk disrespectful about girls.
:thumbsup2good job

J
(Wasn't so bad once I ensured that he was at least holding the doors open for the girls)
Still working on that with my DS:sad2:

We're also booked Cat 5A....

Our cast:
Me, Jill
DH, Chuck
DD, Caroline who will be 8 by this sailing
DS, Garrett who will be 5 by this sailing
Welcome aboard:cheer2:
