Characters:
Mom- A school teacher who is pretty much crazy about Disney
Dad- not so crazy about Disney, but absolutely crazy about Disney Cruising!
Me- a 24 year old nurse who loves Disney music and Disney World, and planning any kind of Disney trip!
I was waiting to post a pre-trip report until right before we leave, as nothing interesting has happened to warrant a super early posting. We aren't surprising anyone, we are doing this cruise just because we decided that WDW in the summer isn't us anymore. Now that we can vacation in the off season at WDW, we're gonna start cruising. Plus, Dad cannot say no to a Disney Cruise. Our alternate summer trip plans were to visit NYC and DC over about a week and a half, but that turned out to be overly expensive, so we decided to spend the money on a cruise! We wanted to do a 7 day, but they were repositioned for the Mexican Riveria, and we wanted to go to Castaway Cay, so we looked at the 4 day, and low and behold... a DOUBLE DIP! How great is this!
We booked right after New Years. Picking a stateroom was the hardest part. I have been in a deluxe inside and deluxe oceanview. Since we were only going for 4 days, we decided to splurge for a navigators verandah! We're so excited! We opted for deck 7 because 8 would be right under the BBB, and 6 .. well, 7 just sounded better! So there we go, stateroom 7128 we are!
I digress a little to say that I have been on two other Disney cruises, while my parents have only been on one. They were on a few other cruises on other lines, and they are for sure changed to Disney Cruisers!
We booked our airfare shortly thereafter and were on our way! We decided to fly into MCO the day before our cruise and stay at the Hyatt MCO. Last time we cruised it was winter, and we had a horrible ice storm earlier in the week. There were forcasts for the same thing for the day we were planning on leaving, which was the day OF the cruise. We opted to see if we could change our flights to the night before and maybe get a hotel (thanks to Disboards, I learned how convenient the Hyatt was!). So, we enjoyed that hotel so much, we booked it again! Last time, we had a long time after our cruise to do stuff, so we went to DTD for the day. This time, we are renting a car for the day before the cruise (our arrival day), and heading out to DTD to do some eating and shopping. We'll stop by Wal Mart and the Disney Outlet as well, just because we can!
I work nights, and I am taking 2 full weeks off, so I worked Sun, Mon, and Tues, and recovered Wednesday. Last night (Thurs night), I fell asleep at 7pm!!!! I then woke up at 330 am this morning and did some packing (I still need to do a lot of that!). I also put the last touches on our door signs and will take them to get printed at Staples. Also, I am getting a hair cut today.
I don't really have anything special to say, except that I've never been so excited for a trip ever. Work these past 6 months has just been horrible, and I can't wait!
I will see you all on the other side of this trip!
