June 2013 Car Rental When Best Deals

Thanks for all of this information. I am a rental newbie and can use all of the help that I can get. I will definitely keep checking for a lower rate...it is like a mission of mine now.;) By the way, did you join Dollar Express? A number of people have suggested that, but I am a little nervous of giving them my credit card number up front for fear of being charged if I cancel reservations.

My husband joined Dollar Express (he does the driving in Florida because I would have us getting lost all the time LOL!) so that we didn't have to wait in the airport terminal car rental line. We just go straight to the garage rental kiosk and pick up our car within minutes. Not sure why they ask for the charge card but I have cancelled reservations numerous times and have never had my card charged. You may need the card you used though when you pick up your car.

Also...if you join Dollar Express....make sure that the driver is the one with the Dollar Express account and put in your Dollar Express number as you book your vehicle. You can put the number on your reservation after you book but it's a lot easier to do it as you are booking. Sorry that I'm so detail oriented! I drive my hubby crazy...

Sounds awesome but I thought the KLM code was for a particular airline though? We are flying Air Canada and United Airlines.

No, you are just suppose to be a member of KLM to use the code. I was never asked to show that I was a member. However, I did go online and join the KLM frequent flyer program so that I now have a KLM number (it was free).

I used in February for the first time and got a really great rate. I plan on using it again in June, but I haven't booked it yet.

Was the *Fact* that Insurance is included ... stated on the paperwork?

I have a KLM / National Reservation and want to verify the insurance component.

Thank you.

Thanks. I will sign us up for Dollar Express then. You have been really helpful. :thumbsup2 BTW, my husband has the same complaint!

Wow I never realized that. I will definitely look into it. Thanks!

Hi All - I booked 2 reservations for the week of June 9th-15th.

The first one is picking up at airport and dropping off..with Budget Code, Base cost was $240.00 plus $80 in taxes and assorted fees..for a total of $320.00

The second one is picking up at Double Tree across from Downtown Disney. This will require me taking ME to my resort, taking the Disney bus to Downtown Disney and walked across the street and about a mile..Base cost for same care as above is $180.00 plus $50.00 for a total of $230.00

I think I can walk across the street and take the Disney transportation to save $90.00.

I got the code from MouseSavers newsletter.

:cool1:

You're quite welcome! Same complaint about your getting lost or about being detail oriented LOL??

Tried the KLM code for our dates and it's still too expensive :-( Looking for June 23rd-July 19th. If we rented for 2 days more it would be a month rental and it's a lot cheaper. If we brought the car back 2 days early, would Enterprise charge us anything??? Has anyone ever had an experience bringing a car back early?? Thanks for your help!

I think they will charge you more because you are changing the tems of the agreement. I one time rented a car in ny for a month and the discount was steep... I asked about bringing it back early and couldnt do it.

Detail oriented. If it was up to him, we would just show up somewhere and see how it all works out. I cannot even handle the thought of that! LOL

I currently have a compact through Thrifty for June 4-11 for $236 (tax included). I used the Orlando Magic Card code 004M001010, which anyone can use. The last few trips I've gotten the same(ish) dates for around $150, so definately looking for a better deal. We usually use the visa code with Alamo, but its been really high this year.

Thank you.

I insurance info was on my paperwork that I had with me, but I used the Emerald Isle so I just went right out to the car and picked one out. The only place I had to stop was at the exit.

I really didn't look at the paperwork specifically about the insurance info since I'm covered with my AMEX card.

I just booked with Budget using the visa code: Y937800 and coupon code uucz010 for one way rentals on June 8 and June 15 (from MCO to Port Canaveral for a cruise) and got great rates!
You have to use your visa but try these.

Thanks for the code! But I had a question, even though we have to give our credit card info, is the rate changeable or can we cancel?

Is this an exact 7 day rental? If so, National using the KLM code 8572130 [all you have to do is sign up through KLM airlines] and an entertainment coupon which takes $30. off is $204. total for a standard vehicle - which is a full size at Orlando. :thumbsup2 If you don't have the entertainment book, you can always stay on the look-out for a coupon that might replicate that amount.

I have been checking all the car rental sites at least once a week. I feel pretty good about my 2 week rental rate at National for $373 (mid size)all in. I have been checking Dollar as they seem the most competitive with the National rate I found. This afternoon, I checked and the price went up $20.00 on the Dollar site. Wheww! I am pretty glad I made a reservation with National when I did. I sure hope the rates start going down, but if it does not, we budgeted $350 for our car rental, so a little over is not a big deal :)

Dollar weekly rental, full size, beginning 6/8, est'd total: $175 - city special

kisse: $184

note 2nd driver not included, typically $10 a day last i checked

June 12- 26... Minivan with alamo through costco and with insiders club which includes a free extra driver... $650... Not too bad but im going to keep checking as my rates have gone from $1000 to $850 to $720 to $650... They keep going down!

Just booked 6/8, returning 6/14 - weekly rental

National

midsize car, emerald aisle

code: 8572130 - Flying Blue/AirFrance/KLM

coupon: $30 Entertainment electronic version

$185.04:drive:

crazy low compared to the $400+ rate earlier this week on the sites i checked

OP - didn't see an 'official' rental car thread for June, 2013, via a search...why not change the title of this one?

wow. and thanks!

for our week-long midsize car i was debating a $266 from dollar (onsite) and a $155 from payless (off site) but now thanks to you i have a $196 from national (on site). perfect!

used the klm code, went to their website and signed up for an account so it's legit--i even entered my new account number into the ressie when i went back in to modify it to add a $20 entertainment book coupon (i only have the book that expires in june 2013--the $30 coupon must be in the current book....). and for that $196, the LDW and supplementary liability insurance are included! says so right on the email confirmation.

THANKS!!!!!!

i checked for you and you can get it for $609 with the KLM code, $30+ less if you have the entertainment book coupon, but you will probably have to pay if you need an additional driver so if you need that i would stick with what you have.
