Sunday, we arrived at Key West, did not sign up for a excursion. We had been here the previous year while in Miami and had seen most of the sights. Did wander over to the Aquarium and DS touched a baby shark. Went in a few shops and then back to the boat. Oh my gosh
what a line!! The line to get back on the boat extended from the front all the way to the back, this was by far our longest line of the week.
Monday, day at sea was relaxing, played bingo, layed by the adult pool and DS spent part of the day in the lab. The adult pool was rarely crowded, but the smoke was worse here. Didn't return any during the week. This was formal night, saw quite a mixture of dress styles, did not notice that many tuxes, mostly nice suits and ties. We were at Lumiere's which is a beautiful restaurant.
Tuesday was an early day, we had Shipwreck and Reef Snorkling at 7:40, met in Rockin bar D at 7:30. Took awhile to get everyone checked and on a tender. Went to shore and walked down some steps onto a tiny strip of sand to wait for excursion boat. Had to walk through water to get on boat. Be sure and wear water shoes for this excursion. Went back out into harbor and snorkled in front of the ship. At times other excursion and sightseeing boats would pass right through this area, which I thought a little dangerous, with children in the water. Lots of fish seen which made DM very happy.
Shopped a little in port and returned to the ship. We really enjoyed sitting in the Promenade lounge before dinner and listening to the music. Very nice way to relax after the hustle of the day.
Wed. at Cozumel, no excusions planned, had read about Paradise Beach on the board so we took a taxi there. Have to say, was disappointed in the beach. Very rocky walking into the water and lots of seaweed type vegetation in areas that was icky walking through. If you go, walk down to the 2nd bar section, it is a lot less crowded and soft sand water area is there. The food was great, we got nachos and quesadillas and loved them. It did look as though part of the beach had washed out, they were bringing in truckbeds full of sand while we there. It's possible it's not usually that crowded and small. Lounge chairs, floats and kayaks are free to use.
Stayed at the beach a few hours and then walked through the mall on the way back to the ship. Shopworkers are very aggressive which I don't like, and you really have to haggle to get a fair price.
Went back to the ship for Mexicali... night, had a great dinner and up to deck party for awhile, more on trip later.
