June 17, 2016 - Magic goes to Norway and Iceland from Dover

Hello everyone! I just booked this cruise a month ago. Traveling with my DD16. This will be our 10th Disney Cruise. Does anyone have any taxi information from Copenhagen port to the airport? Thanks and See you real soon!

There will be taxis outside of the port building. Last year the line was SUPER long, so we asked Disney if we could use one of the shuttle buses to the Tivoli Hotel and then we grabbed a taxi from there.

Anyone can join the FE! We would love for you to join us. Just post names, stateroom #, and any food allergies. Our FE will be closing in a couple of weeks so that everyone can get gifts in order. :)

Welcome!
Thank you very much for the warm welcome! We are just starting to find our way around the disboards.

Our cabin number is yet to be confirmed, will it be okay to let you know when we get it?

We are Mark and Erin (two adults), Erin is allergic to fish seafood, Mark has no allergies. Not to be presumptive, but we would prefer not to receive alcohol, thank you.

We live quite near York (where some of the excursions are on the day at Newcastle) and have been to Beamish and Hadrian's Wall, so are happy to be of any help if anyone has questions about those places.

Hello,

We've (DH and I) just signed up for the 12 day cruise. This will be our third DCL cruise. We went on the 9 day Norway cruise last year which was great, but are looking forward to seeing Iceland and the Orkney Islands this year. Last year we did the Fish Extender exchange for the first time (we found a group on Facebook/Webbly) and really enjoyed ourselves. Are adults allowed to participate in your FE Exchange?

We look forward to hearing about everyone's plans soon!
Erin
Welcome!!

Welcome!!
Thank you! We are getting excited. The trip is very much last minute (for us) and so we have spent our weekend booking flights and transfers. We are hoping for similar weather to last year's cruise (we did the 9 day Norwegian Fjords only) where it was glorious sunshine for the whole trip.

Wouldn't that be wonderful! Where we live, it'll be pretty hot then so my youngest is hoping it will be cold.

I am adding you to our FE list. Yes, please post your cabin # when you get it, and I will update our list. There will be no issues with not getting alcohol since DCL changed their policy in the last year or so, and it is not allowed. :) My family will be spending time in Beamish while stopped in Newcastle. We are just taking a taxi on our own. Any thoughts?

Happy planning!

Hi I just found this thread. We are booked on this cruise as well. We are from California and have previously cruised on the Magic before renovation, the Wonder and the Fantasy. This is my first trip to Europe. If there is still room I would like to join the FE group. It is my husband, myself and daughter Sierra 5. No allergies. Room 6618. We have never done an FE group before. Thanks

Karen

Yes, there is still room in our FE. If I could please have your and your husban's first names, I will add you to our list which is currently 12 staterooms, including your family. You can view our current list on page 13 of this thread, post 253. We were on the Magic last summer as our first cruise since the reimagining. The only things I did not like as well were the chandeliers in the atrium and the new, boring curtains in the public areas of deck three. I liked the changed staircase, loved Cabanas, and enjoyed the decor of Cariocas. We look forward to seeing her again, and seeing the few new additions that happened this fall! :) We are also from the West Coast. Do you get to spend any time pre or post cruise in Europe?

Welcome!

My husband is Roy, I'm Karen and Sierra is 5 1/2. We are getting to London 2 days early more because I'm paranoid of missing the boat if we have any flight delays and to try to adjust to the time change.

Thanks, I will update our list. We felt so spoiled to be going on our first cruise back in 2010, that we flew directly to Barcelona and boarded the ship and then went right to the airport after embarkation. Luckily no flight issues! We realized how much we shortchanged ourselves by not exploring our port city and also having to adjust from jetlag while on the cruise. Never again! Last summer we flew in two days early into Copenhagen and we had a great time. Just an FYI for London: there is a Lego Land not far by train. Not sure if you live in Northern or Southern CA.

Happy planning!

How are all of you getting to Dover. Train, taxi ..bus. Im still trying to figure this out.

We are using Coastal Cars to get to Dover from London (£135) and Blackberry Cars (£47) to get from the airport to London.

Someone, not from this forum, but on our cruise, is reporting that they have received their cruise documents!!

I did get a quote from blackberry cars 135 pounds. I was originally planning on the train, but they seem to be having a lot of strikes lately. It seems like a hasle with luggage. Maybe Im wrong on that. Im just not used to public transportation.

I agree. It does seem like a hassle with luggage.

Beamish is a great place to visit. The only hints is that it is very spread out and out in the open, so be prepared to walk a lot and to bring something waterproof/windproof as who knows what the weather can be like! It can be really windy around there, which makes the rain cold when it happens (even in June). When we went, there were also long waits for food, so you may want to go early/later. I am not sure if you are vegetarians/non-beef eaters, but they fry the chips (french fries) in beef fat (as do many places in the North of England) so you might want to avoid them if so.

Thanks so much! One of the main reasons we are going is to eat the fish and chips fried in beef fat!!! :) :)

I know we can grab a cab at the port to get to Beamish. Do you think there will be any at Beamish for the return, or can they call one?
