June 13, 2015: FP+ and the 25 ride day...

"The crowds were certainly there. With FP+, riding certain E attractions only once and some (like TSMM) not at all and by going at strategic times, the lines were inconsequential."

Fixed it for you. ;)

Under the glory days of legacy FP with "late" returns, we were usually able to average about 3 attractions/hour and hit the E attractions we liked multiple times. Now we probably average about 2-2.5 attractions/hour, like you, and do E attractions less often. So we still enjoy our trip--we just do less and in the process pay more for the privilege. But I recognize it works better for some, and I'm glad you found a way to make it work for you.

Just curious--were you at RD the morning after your late evening? Our family has a tough time doing RD, evening EMH and then getting up early the next day for RD, too. That's why it's hard for us to do evening EMH more than the last day of our trip. If we're forced to choose between RD and evening EMH, we choose RD, but others do it the opposite way.

I thought that rider swap was only for when you go through the standby lines now? It doesn't make sense to me going through the FP+ line but I probably don't understand it. But kudos to those who can take advantage of it!

I don't understand what you mean about ride swap being a part of the FP+ system. It was also available when we had paper FPs. The only thing new that I see with rider swap is that it doesn't expire the same day, and is instead good through the end of the month.

OK, I'm a little confused.

Is there something different about what they do with rider swap under FP+ from they did under legacy FP?

Sounds like before you had to use it then and there, but now you can come back even several weeks later to use them. I agree with others that this has way more to do with Rider Swap than Fast Passes, but if thats what they call it under the system thats what they call it. Still Apples to Oranges with those of us without small kids though. You'll be back with us peons soon enough... ;)

You said YOUR DAUGHTER rode those rides. May I ask what the adults managed to do?

In our experience, RS passes were always good until the end of the month (and were valid for up to 3 guests) - so the expiration date hasn't changed with FP+.

You don't have to ride SB to use RS. AS far as our experience goes, we went up to the CM at the front of the line all together and requested a rider swap pass (they need to see the too short child). CM hands back a paper RS pass. The first rider then either rides SB, or uses a FP+ (whichever is fine). When the first rider comes out, the second rider (up to 3 people) use the RS pass to enter through the FP+ (the 2nd rider(s) not needing a FP+ for the attraction, just the RS pass).

AFAIK, there's been no significant change to the system.

So again, it appears that FP+ wasn't the main reason for the great day but rider swap because rider swap worked just the same before FP+. Glad you had a great day but don't believe FP+ was the reason for it.

That's what I don't get. If it's through the FP line only the older child should get the extra ride so they an ride with both parents (who would both have FPs).

My relatives just had a new (surprise, way after the rest of their kids) baby and we were calling her their human FP ;)

There doesn't have to be an older child in order to use RS. (there didn't need to be under legacy either)

Essentially it's similar to collecting several legacy FPs for use later in the day, just now it's for another day.

I do wish my kids were young enough for us to use rider swap after reading this.

The rider swap passes could just as easily have been collected in standby lines over previous days.

I'll let you know when the Orlando branch of "Rent-a-Kid" is ready to go. ;)
