Glad to see you here, WanderLit! It sounds like you have the perfect attitude to experience a Disney cruise and enjoy all it has to offer! You will be pleased with the cabin size and split bathrooms, making the average cabin on Disney nicer than the ones on RCCL. Also, sodas are included in restaurants and at a self-serve kiosk at the pool, and you do not have to make reservations for the shows. Your granddaughter should have a wonderful time in the children's facilities, meeting the characters, and enjoying all-ages family activities with you and her Mom.

I hope your husband decides to come with you! I cruise once without my husband, and while I had a good time, I did miss him very much.

We are going on our first cruise ever. So Happy it's a Disney Cruise. We are big Disney FANS!! Been to WDW @ least 12 times. It'll be my DH Mike, DS- Ethan 15 & DS-Cameron 13. Can't wait. We'd love to participate in a Fish Extender group. What do we need to do to join?

Brooke, it sounds like you started cruising with a great voyage! I'll warn you though, just like visiting Disney, cruising is addictive, so you will leave the ship and already be thinking about when you can go back!

I have a DD15 and DS13, so I'm sure they'll enjoy hanging out with your boys in Edge and Vibe!

There is a Fish Extender list going, although the postings right now are a little sluggish, given how far away we are from the cruise. I'm sure it will liven up as we get into the late winter/early spring and final payment approaches. To join the group, you just need to be put on the list. Bring a small gift for everyone else on the list, and at some point during the cruise (at your leisure) deliver the gift to every other stateroom. They will do the same, so you will find yourself with a number of cool gifts throughout the cruise. The kids love it! Also make sure you get yourself a fish extender (make one or buy one - just Google the term and you'll see a lot of images).

Are you also going to WDW on this trip? We'll be headed to Universal and WDW right after the cruise.

Great to hear back from you. I've heard DCL is very addictive like WDW. We are very excited. I'm part of a very small FE group on Facebook but we wanted to join a larger group. I'd love to be put on whatever list we need to be. I knew we would be participating in a FE group so I asked my MIL to make me a Fish Extender for Christmas (she is a quilter)- it turned out great!!

We are only going on the cruise this time. My DH and I were just at WDW in October for Food and Wine.

I was planning to sign both boys up for the Vibe only. Do you know if my older son can go to the Edge too? If so I'll sign them up for both clubs. Wasn't sure how the clubs worked. I want them to have as much fun as possible.

I agree that it is addictive. We are huge Disney fans. We took our first Disney cruise in 2007 thinking it would be our one and only cruise. Before our cruise was over my very financially conservative husband turned to me and said, "We HAVE to do this again!" This will be our first cruise as Platinum!

We had the same experience, OklaMomof4Boys! My husband and I began cruising on our honeymoon, and knew we had to do it again... and again! We cruise many different lines, and love cruising in general. This will be our 4th DCL cruise, so we're not quite gold yet, but we always look forward to that special Disney touch. And while we love Disney cruises, if we can't sail DCL, we enjoy Princess or Celebrity as well. As long as we're cruising (or hanging out at theme parks) we're happy.

It's been 2 years since we were last on a DCL cruise, so it's possible the rules may have changed, but in June 2014 when we were on the Fantasy, kids 11-12 were allowed to choose to be either in the Oceaneer's Lab or Edge, and kids 13 (maybe 13 and 14?) were allowed to be in either Edge or Vibe. Once you made your choice, you couldn't go back on it. My kids tend to be less 'sophisticated' than other kids their age (like to play with toys, be silly, into games, etc., not so into the 'dating' scene or social media) so they tend to go with the younger group when available. I'm 99% sure my 13 year old DS will choose Edge, while my 15 year old DD will be in Vibe. It's probably for the best that they're separated and each have their chance to make their own friends, etc.

Hi just joined the boards after reading all the info about FEs. This is will be our second Dis cruise I would love to be added to the FE list. It will be me-Anne, DH-Allen, DS8(turning 9 on the boat) DS6 and my DM and DD( who will turn 60 on the boat) plus they are celebrating their 40th anniversary We have our count down started and can't wait to go!!!

So it looks like a pretty good list so far, with 8 cabins participating in the FE. I think we'd need at least 2 more minimum for a decent FE, but given that we have almost 6 months before the cruise, I don't think that will be a problem. And we could certainly go as high as 20 or 30 participants, so anyone who is interested, please feel free to post!

Also, if anyone on the FE list has more than 1 cabin, and wants to participate as multiple cabins, please post and we can adjust!

I have had a family emergency come up since October. My father-in-law was admitted in ICU and was in there for more than a month. It was tough. Then, the holidays snuck up.

BTW, did everyone hear about the CDC warning about the Zika virus for those traveling in the Caribbean? So far, our stops are not listed.
