Family of four 2 young adults and two 47 year olds. Has been 15 years since doing Disney so would love help planning our itinerary for the four days Monday Jun 26- Thursday Jun 29. We will have Hopper tickets with Geni + and willing to purchase a few ILL's. Any chance someone could come up with a Rope Drop Strategy for us? We would be more inclined to the thrill rides but also want to catch the classic rides as well. Usually go open to close. Wifey wants to do Blue Bayou for lunch one day. Interested in other fun/cool themed restaurants but only one per day max.

Are you staying on site? I find that those 30 minutes can really count sometimes! My strategy at DL is usually space, matterhorn, and then big thunder, then hit pirates and haunted mansion, before taking a break and deciding what to do next. I would not recommend using your rope drop time for peter pan, as sometimes this can eat up a huge chunk of time, which is very valuable! As for DCA, I tend to enter from the PPH entrance and so do Incredicoaster, Guardians, and then queue up for RSR rope drop, so I can’t really comment on rope drop for this park, just EE. As for restaurants, I would recommend trying to get a reservation for lamplight lounge, as that is one of the best restaurants theming-wise imo!

Do you get ILL right away or do you wait an couple of hours for the lines to get longer before getting ILL?

Will be staying offsite just south.
Okay so you’ll be doing normal rope drop, so I think my DL version would be a good iteration, maybe switch a few rides around to make room for Indiana Jones since I usually tend to hit that one at night but it’s your day. For DCA, RSR will be the most hectic right at the beginning, so that’s there if you’re willing to wait, but mostly everything else has low waits there until about 930/10. I don’t really have a set route for DCA since we can utilize 3 different entrances, but I tend to just hit the thrill rides first thing.

Do you get ILL right away or do you wait a couple of hours for the lines to get longer before getting ILL?
I tend to wait a couple of hours before the lines get too long, and it shouldn’t be a problem because most of the time up until about 3, 4, or even 5 the return times are like redeemable right away. After that they sometimes start to get pushed out, but I don’t think you’ll have a problem getting the return time you want mid-day.

What about Geni + do you start reserving those right away or do you wait a couple hours?
Absolutely reserve these right away. The new “modify” feature means you can continue to bump a ride time later in the day without losing your original booking time. So you can essentially “stack” your afternoon with a few prime LL if you so desire.

You can book a new G+ LL once either a) you have redeemed your LL by tapping in or b) 2 hrs has passed since you booked your LL but not redeemed it yet (ie you booked Space mountain at 8 am for an 11 return time. In this case you could book a new LL at 10am.) So it is beneficial to either book LL for rides with immediate return times you only want to ride once, or book a LL right as you enter the park for a priority ride and modify the time to suit your day. Hope this makes sense.

Does it have to be modified before the arrival time?
No, just before the end time. So if you had until 10:55 to redeem your LL ie your window was 9:55-10:55) you can modify up until 10:54. I personally wouldn’t take it that close, but I have modified with 5 min left. ;) you also can modify the same LL multiple times and it does not affect the next time you can book.

Matsterrocks did you see the first thread in this forum, which is about rope-drop strategies using Lightning Lanes?

When I’m doubt I’d reserve DL over DCA especially if you have hoppers. DL is usually much more likely to sell out of reservations, so switching from DL to DCA is easier than vice versa if you change your mind.

You can easily do all the DCA rides outside of cars land and avengers campus in a single rope drop morning. I find I need multiple rope drop mornings at DL to get all the things I want.
