Jumping on the busdriver

I was riding the bus from MK to POR this past weekend and witnessed a woman get upset with the bus driver because he did not know which bus stop she was to get off at. As we drove around the resort we would stop at each stop so she could examine the area to see if the surroundings looked familar. (If you didn't get on at the stop near the front desk all of the other stops look almost exactly alike). When she did get off she bolstered her disgust of the busdriver out loud so the entire bus could hear it. I felt sorry for the bus driver, everyone else on the bus knew which stop was their's.

People, remember there are 18 resorts that the buses take guests too and from each park. For the resorts that have multiple stops they are all numbered or named. If you are staying at one of these multiple stop resorts look at the name or number of the stop, write it down if you have too in order to remember it. Don't jump on the busdriver because of your own metal laspe. It isn't up to the driver to know which is your stop.

Hear Hear!! Great post!

I was on the bus from PI that went through FW once, it was about 2:00am and this drunken jerk was abusive to teh driver, kept yelling at him to stop then would say it wasn't his stop, why didn't the driver know where he was going? :confused3 :rotfl2:

At any rate, we were in the middle between a couple loops, it's PITCH DARK there at night, and the guy INSISTED "This was his stop". The guest is always right... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The driver stops, opens the door, and lets him off in the middle of nowhere! :cool1: :cool1:

I hope that guy had a ten day hangover after that.

I was thinking you were going to say someone literally jumped on the bus driver! :goodvibes I have never seen guests do this, but kudos to you for posting this reminder. POR is HUGE! But I love hearing the words..."south depot"! Oh, the memories. Now that we're in the DVC, we won't be hearing that anymore. No complaints here, but really fond memories of that place.

I saw a guy jump all over a driver once since he supposedly had waited "almost an hour" However, I came to the driver's defense. As I got on after the idiot... I said (LOUDLY!) " I waited 20 minutes and the folks in front of me got here AFTER I did" Idiot knew I had been there when he showed up and I had timed the wait. Idiot shut up and driver winked at me!

Oh the stories the bus drivers could tell...

we had a lady once that was screaming at the driver because the seats were all taken and she had to stand!! Like maybe the driver had buttons for ejection seats he could push to catapult people off the bus so she could get a seat!!

or the time a father literally cussed the driver out because he wasn't being "kid friendly" because he stopped the bus to wait for one of the parents to capture their unrestrained toddler that was running up and down the center aisle of the bus. Somehow the fathers arguement that it was supposed to be "all about the kids" at Disneyworld and no one should make a tired kid sit in a bus seat interspersed with about 6000 profane expression right in front of the kid seemed a bit ironic!!

or my personal favorite....the family that got on the bus to OKW when they were staying at the Polynesian (opposite side of the world so to speak) and then became HIGHLY irate that the driver would not "just run them by" their resort...their loud and hateful arguements included things like "when we pay the kind of $$ for a room that we are dropping there ANY *#!** bus we get on better take us back to our hotel" and "well if you aren't going to take us back to our hotel, you sure as #**%# better have someone with the big white cadillac waiting at the next stop to pick us up and drive us there". The dad then proceeded to plop down behind the driver and start a litany of what kind of a loser drives a bus for a living....., and the mom sat across from him and told the kids they would just sit right there and refuse to get off until the bus drove them to their hotel and then proceeded to light her cigarette....I died laughing when this behemouth of a man (like 6'6" and maybe 350 pounds of serious muscle) reaches over the seat, takes the cigarette out of her hand, puts it out and then stands up (so everyone gets a good look at the size of the guy) and says quietly that "I think you people have said about enough, and speaking as the son of a bus driver who was anything but a loser I think you might want to shut up now" He then walks over and sits about 2 inches away from the jerk with the big mouth, who suddenly no longer felt the need to malign the bus driver. Those people about jumped off the bus at the first stop!! Everyone else in the front of the bus applauded the big guy after they got off....it was great!!

Hmm... I think I've had every single one of those people on my bus, except the 6'6" guy. He's more than welcome on my bus any night! :)

I have seen some crazy things on Disney Transport but thank goodness I haven't come across those people and I hope I never do! :earseek:

On another note, Chip "n Dale Express-since you are a bus driver I was wondering if you could tell me (if you know) where the bus stop is for POR at MK- 1st or 2nd bus platform?

:cheer2: :cheer2: I can't imagine the abuse bus drivers at WDW take. We were at AKL and a large group asked me how they could get to GF. I told them that they could take a bus to the MK and then take the monorail to GF. Oh, they weren't so happy with that. They had someone in a wheelchair and it was raining. Nope, they wanted a private handicap access. van. Well, that wasn't going to happen. I explained that there were no buses that ran from resort to resort. The woman who had asked me evidently didn't like my answer and went off in a huff at which my dh says quite loudly.."And you're very welcome lady!!!"
A bus comes and they ask the bus driver. I can only assume he told them pretty much what I had said 20 minutes before. As we were waiting for the MK bus also, we were privy to all their conversation. Well, since she has gotten the exact same info from all the 4 drivers she has asked, the woman proceeds to ask me how to get to the monorail at MK. I tell her. Her response..."Well, of course it's a covered walkway right? I mean, it's raining and we'll get wet." Again, not happy with my response. The MK bus came and she caused quite the uproar getting on board that bus. She berated the bus driver because it took longer than she thought it should to board her dh and his wheelchair. She was upset that her whole party of 13 couldn't sit together, since she boarded first with her dh from the back of the bus. Then there was the whole uncovered walkway issue that she took up with the bus driver.

Or the time we waite for a bus back to Polynesian from TL. A family was more than a little irrate since they had been waiting for a good hour and a half for a bus back to Polynesian. Only problem was that they walked up about 5 minutes after us and we had been there 20 minutes. Yes, it did take another 15 minutes before a bus came. It was the worst bus experience we had ever. But, it was midday and I know the service to TL is a little whacky at that time. But, this gentleman took every bus driver that came through, over the coals about how his family was so hot and thirsty and Disney couldn't get them back to the Polynesian. Screaming at those poor people.

So, Tyler and any other bus drivers out there....since we don't want you to have to be in a 'thank-less' job....THANK-YOU!!!! You all do a great job under some pretty bad conditions at times. We apologize for those that are so over the top rude to you. And want you to know that most of us really appreciate what you do, on a daily basis!!!!   :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

are these people crazy?

I mean I have gotten mad at CM before - but never a bus driver. He is only following his/her schedules. You don't want to made any driver mad - especially a bus driver.

In the old days they were pretty nice and told me who to complaint to - the controller - to get a bus faster - then was when the wait at OKW was 35 to 45 minutes.

the last visit 10 minutes (sometimes even less) -

Bus Drivers are WONDERFUL!!!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:
