I can deal with the jumping by just waiting a few seconds. But the freezing drives me crazy!! I never know if it's my computer & how long it will take to load the page. Plus on my phone, I frequently get "pulled" to the ads at the bottom of the page. I have to close the whole site & start again!!
Yep, hating this. I'm used to immediately clicking on something. Now, I have to remember to wait a bit so the page can settle down before doing so. And I don't read on a phone, just a computer and sometimes an iPad using the web.
I know the administrators said that the DISBoards app was disabled when they made the forum software switch because the new one was "mobile friendly." Well, apparently it's not with the ads they run on it. I've all but given up on it.
I have to say I never click on ads like these. But lately I've been "accidentally" clicking on ads constantly when I read the DIS on my phone. I hope that's at least gaining them more ad revenue.
As others have said, I've learned to wait..wait...wait...wait...see the jump, then click.
It makes for much slower browsing on my phone, but it avoids me being accidentally sent to the SeaWorld Forum when I am trying to get to the Community Board.
I thought it was just me! Started this week and has been driving me nuts! I never click ads and I've been to all kinds of places now, LOL! Sigh..I miss the old boards.
Jumping and freezing on my Android phone (and lesser degree on my Android tablet). And not just freezing during initial load, but while reading further down the page. Repeatedly. And freezing while I'm typing responses. I haven't used other Disney forums in years, but I've started again bc I get so frustrated over here.
I turned off my ad blocking extension in Chrome for the DIS and spent some time viewing and loading pages as usual. I too noticed the freezing when I allowed ads to load so it appears the ads themselves are what is taking all the time to load. I turn my ad block extension back on and I still get the little jump from the Facebook logo loading at the top of the page, but the freezing is no longer an issue.
Probably about the same way we feel about the ads making the page jump around for us. Annoying but something we have to live with.
Ad Block and its ilk wouldn't have such a large user base if certain types of ads weren't so intrusive. There's a way to do it without damaging the user experience.
The freezing has everything to do with the advertisers and not the board software. The board software and the jumpiness is because of page configuration and could be modified.
