jumpiness of threads on the dis due to ads

I'm so sick of the jumping and being redirected to download an app! Or sometimes, the thread I'm reading will randomly skip back to the prior page. This is all incredibly annoying.

Hahah jokes on me. I checked this thread on my phone (silly me) and I was taken to the App Store twice in the first 30 seconds. That just doesn't happen on other sites...

Ditto all that's been mentioned. I will no longer be checking on my phone (which was a majority of the time I spent on this site). It makes me want to chuck my phone through a window.

It's not happening to me at all on my phone. I am not seeing any jumpiness and I am not being redirected to the App Store.
I'm not sure why, but here is my setup in case it helps....

iPhone 6
IOS 9.0.2 (this is the latest as of today - I think it is most important that you are running the latest IOS)
Safari
AdBlock Plus (free app, not the browser), make sure you enable this in Settings -> Safari -> Content Blockers
Note: I also have "Block Pop-Ups" and "Fraudulent Website Warning" enabled in Safari

I have an older iPad that I just tried, I mention its older because it does not support the "Content Blocker" option. I do notice that DIS pages take A LOT longer time to load although I don't get the redirect.

It only started happening to me yesterday, but its driving me freaking nuts. Admittedly, that's a short drive, but its really annoying. Plus I've started to get pop ups that are redirecting me to some other site wanting to give me a new iPhone. I don't even own any apple products. I hope they can get this stuff fixed PDQ.

I'm getting redirected to some 'you won a free apple product' site. Only when I'm on the DIS. I can't cancel it or anything. It's not even opening another window. Tried Safari & Chrome on iphone & Ipad.

This super-annoying thing was happening on my iPad the other night too - I finally just gave up and it hasn't been happening since. I didn't even know iPads were subject to malware; I've never had anything like that pop up before.

I posted a link to this thread in the "Technical Issues" forum. Hopefully someone will see it and alert whoever to fix whatever.

The Mods are strangely absent from this thread...I have to assume this is a well-known issue to DIS IT and that there's no fix for it. It's probably some sort of unintended consequence to having the ads on the site in the first place, which must be a revenue source that takes priority over functionality. Oh well, but I do wonder if the "PIA" factor is contributing to how dull Community Board seems lately. Maybe it's just me...

Nope, I think the scam knows your internet provider because I'm in the states and I get who I have an account with.

Last night I kept getting redirected to a video ad at the bottom of the page. I was in the middle of trying to post something so it was pretty dang annoying. I was thinking the same thing, I can't blame them for going after a revenue stream but at the same time if I am being frustrated I'm not going to be hanging out as much.

The jumpiness is lessened using use AdBlock on my Mac and Purify on my iPhone and iPad.

Mary Jo posted on the similar thread in tech support very early this am. She said the webmasters are working on the issue. Fingers crossed they can figure it out.
