Intro:
Summer, 56, in Connecticut, one hour outside NYC
Living with...DH, 62, DD, 23
Working as...a Kindergarten Teacher in an inner city public school...happily off for the summer!
Favorite place...seashore...going on a beach vacation this month!
Hobbies...Art, singing, reading

July Goals:
Stay motivated; walk daily; high protein, low carb; keep my eye on the prize; HAVE FUN!

I have settled into summer vacation! I am highly motivated by that and today's pedicure. I can use some self-care. I am highly motivated by my friend coming over for a healthy lunch and pool day tomorrow. I made a practice low-fat quiche yesterday which came out good but I want to make a couple of tweaks. It tasted delicious, and you would never know that it wasn't made with heavy cream and full fat cheese. She had weight loss surgery a few years ago, so she isn't able to eat a lot in one sitting. I will make a fruit salad to go with it, and she is bringing a tossed salad. She can have a little of everything. I look forward to spending time with her.

DD has photo shoots scheduled this week for her personal styling website, so it looks like I will be her assistant. I'm happy to support her new business.

Have a motivational Monday!

Good morning!

I’m Sandy (or sjrec), happily retired after 20 years in our local HS library.

I am trying to maintain a 70lb weight loss (also for 20 years)-right now I am working on losing 8lbs gained in the last few months of Covid.

Looking forward to our trip to Disney in late July-I have accepted I won’t lose these 8lbs by then, but 2lbs would be realistic. So I will continue to eat healthy meals at home and walk 2 miles at lest 5x a week.

Hi there! I'm Shannon, 38, RI. Mom of 3 (8, 6, 2), wife, business analyst (no summer vaca for me)
I am motivated by a new chapter in my life. My parents recently moved into a nursing home. Now that I am not an active participant in their daily care I have more time to focus on my family and my own health including walking a few times a week and paying more attention to what I eat. This excersize and healthier eating is also motivated by a WDW trip for August...if anyone has tips on getting 2yo to wear a mask I would appreciate it, her headstrong attitude will help her some day but it is not helpful at the moment :sad2:
Glad to be back on the board after a hiatus this fall and winter.

Welcome!

20+ year Early Childhood specialist here...(I started out the year in Pre-K with 3's and 4's, and transferred to kindergarten in October). My littles in both classes wore their masks faithfully all year. It basically took making it fun and practicing. Knowing when you are going, have her practice wearing a mask inside (since she won't need it outside) starting with a short period of time...15 minutes and building up to whatever she can tolerate. Over time it will get easier. I read books to my students about how wearing a mask makes them Superheroes because they are saving lives by masking up. By midyear, my students starting calling out the teachers, custodians, and cafeteria workers that weren't wearing masks correctly. It was hilarious. The youngest in the school were the most responsible and consistent with mask-wearing.

Hi! I am Stephanie. I live in Northeast Ohio. I have been married for almost 16 years and have 2 teenagers. DS is 15 and DD is almost 14. Both are playing high school soccer this year so my summer has been consumed with carting my kids around for this. I am amazed at how much the boys practice. Between doing a summer league, practice and weight training he hasn't been home much. DD's is much more laid back.

I can take the week of the 5th if no one can take it. I am on PTO that week but not going anywhere. I just have a tendency of not getting on a computer when I am off of work.

Hello, Lizanne here. I live in Seattle WA, but am currently sitting in DWF airport waiting for my connection to Cedar Rapids. Strangely enough, both Dallas and Cedar Rapids are cooler than Seattle right now. It was a brutal weekend.

My goals for July are to continue with the improvements I was finally forced to make in June. I’m hoping to lose one more pound in the coming days so that I can claim -5 for June and plan on another -5 for July. When I get home end of the week the temps will have dropped to normal summer highs, so I’ll be able to get outdoors again.

Other big plans for the month… my ADR window for my September trip opens up 7.11. I’m hoping for more restaurant reopening announcements soon.

Thank you everyone! We are all set for July!

Hi! I’m Cristin…44 from PA…wife, mother of 17yr old boy/girl twins, & kindergarten teacher.

July is going to be a travel month for me. We are currently in the car on the way to our hotel by the Philly airport. We fly to Mexico tomorrow morning for almost a week at an all-inclusive resort that was rescheduled from last year. It was originally to celebrate the twins 16th birthday, but now we are celebrating their 17th birthday instead. Then we are back for a week before my husband and I go away for our anniversary. We decided to go to Vegas, as we’ve never been there before and we’re able to get a place to stay using my parents time share. So I’ll be enjoying family time, working on my mental health, and trying to somewhat maintain with workouts and healthy eating I’m between vacations.

Safe travels!

I was going to go to my Sisters at the ocean for the 4th, which I’ve done the past two years, but with the business trip this week decided to stay home. Last weekend was already crazy there, with wall to wall cars and people on the beach, so much so that cars closer to the water got caught in the incoming tide. No thanks. Staying home also gives me complete control over what I eat, and I am ready to finally start the juice cleanse I bought a month ago.

Yesterday was a long day of travel, super long, but I can already tell it is going to be a good, invigorating trip.

These are all good tips to read before the 4th gets here! I always bring something to a gathering that I know I can eat-there are so many good recipes out there. I’m making a pea salad for our Fourth of July cookout with family and we’re bringing a watermelon.

Great tips! I am a big fan of eating something small before a gathering (a salad, half a sandwich) to either limit eating unhealthy food or just in case there is nothing at the party that appeals to my picky eaters.
A great way to monitor alcohol AND hydrate....bring your own nips and flavored waters. DH and I went to a Jimmy Buffett concert a few years back and that was our tailgate approach. A little vanilla vodka or coconut rum added to a flavored seltzer or sparkling ice/bai type water is super yum. No dehydration concerns in the 90+ degree temps AND no next day hangover...win win!

I have a few parties/get togethers to go to. Friday we are hang out with friends that we normally go the orchestra with. It is outside and they do fireworks after. We missed it last year because of COVID and this year we are going but they are not. They are not vaccinated and that it is a unsafe place for them so we are hanging out on Friday. Nothing healthy will be eaten here. We are bringing fried chicken and macaroni salad (home made). They are making home made chicken salad to eat with croissants. They are also making crab dip but I am sure it will be just them and my son eating that.

Saturday we will be heading to my aunts for a pool party. I finally get to see family. This is the family that the last time I saw them was at my grandfather funeral last September and none of us could get close to each other. So it will be nice to finally be able to hang out. We will only stay 2 hours before heading to the orchestra. They usually have lots of healthy foods so I am not concerned here.

Depending where I am going might eat before. I am picky on top of having food upset my stomach. If I feel there will not be anything for me to eat I will eat before. I don't drink so I am good there. Though I need to drink more water and not pop. I try not to limit what I eat at parties. I just eat it in moderation.

Good Afternoon!

My name is Megan and I'm 35, no kids just my cat Minnie and my DH. I work in the office of a credit union (my standing desk should be coming soon!) July is going to be exciting for me cause I'm visiting my family in California and I'll get to go to Disneyland July 2 ( I'm hoping my sister, nephew and I can score a boarding pass for Webslingers). My C25K training will be completed in July and I will be "running" my first 5k. The Virtual Lion King Musical race. I probably wont be able to run the whole thing but I'll do my best.
July 23rd will be my 75th day of dieting and being more active (I workout or jog 6 days a week). I haven't weighed myself since I started that and I hope to see a better number or at least fit into some pair of jeans that were a little too tight pre Covid.
I hope I will be able to finish strong on both those things in July as well as not go too crazy on the Disney snacks when I'm there (although a churro is a must!).
It is nice to meet all of you and I can't wait to interact all month of July!!!!!!!!
