Is there much difference between visiting Disneyland in late July or late August, in terms of crowds and overall experience?

end of august can be lower crowds..As some kids in year round school are going back at that time.. My season pass isn't good all summer so that is the time of year that we can go back.. So it can depend.. Look at recent years and the hours. More people can tell you better. We live here so we stay away in the summer..

Not much difference experience, IMO. Late July will have longer park hours. Late August will have AP holders returning after their blackout lifts. Most would say the crowds will be more in July than late August, but that did not seem to be true this past summer. I wouldn't get too hung up on the difference, and just go when it seems most convenient. The one advice to follow in July and August is to avoid weekends at all costs.

That's what I'd hoped, but after reading a few sites that claimed end of August was a much better time to go, I started to doubt whether I'd made the right choice by choosing July. Plus, back when I lived in CA, I always went in August, so didn't have a clue as to how it was in July.

So, thank you once again for your insights, HydroGuy! I really appreciate the guides you've posted, too.

I hope you like the heat because it will be HOT!

Well, I don't mind the heat much, but the dryness does bother me. Growing up in CA, when it would hit 90+ on the thermometer, I'd regularly get nose bleeds when outdoors. So that's not something I've missed since moving to IL, where summers are pretty humid. (Winters, on the other hand, require using a humidifier all the time or I get nose bleeds.)

Dealing with that little defect of mine will be a challenge in DL, but in the eighties when I went there in August, it was no more problem than usual. So I guess I'll hope for the best!

Or is late August cooler than late July in Anaheim? I honestly don't recall after all these years.
