July Visit- Disneyland Hotel Standard Room or Paradise Pier Club Level?

So- my kids picked DLH based primarily on the waterslide/pool area and the cool headboards in the room. I have since learned of the construction that is going to be going on at DTD right by DLH. We are currently booked at the DLH for 3 nights. It has me thinking I may move our reservation to another Disneyland Resort hotel. We want to stay onsite at a Disney property. When I played around with room reservations I can get a theme park view club level room at Paradise Pier for just a very small amount more than our standard parking lot view room at DLH.

Convince me to move!!! Looking for pros and cons of Paradise Pier vs DLH. I'm all in, I'd move, how to sell it to my kids (aged 11 and 14 and huge Disney fans)? Is Paradise Pier magical? Is it convenient? How much of a hassle will the construction be? Anyone stay at PP and love it?

I haven’t stayed in the PPH but I’ve been inside for the character breakfast. It doesn’t look like a Disney Hotel inside. It looks like a generic hotel. If there is any theming, I didn’t see it.

I have stayed at the DLH and I loved it! Grounds, pool area and Trader Sam’s are fantastic and we loved our room. My son adored the light-up headboards. We were even able to watch fireworks from our standard room (Fantasy tower, facing the parking lot).

My daughter asked if we could say at PP next time. While staying at DLH we went over to PP to each at PCH and she saw the mini arcade. i said sure its only few more minutes further than DLH (it's cheaper anyways) . When i told her the she could not use he pool at DLH she then said never mind. She would choose that pool over anything.

I loved our stay at DLH and although we could have also done the same and switch to a better room at PP I am glad we didn't. PP just seems a bit dated to me. I would still stay there but not as my first time. I say if you have stayed on site before then i say sure switch to PP just tell the kids DLH was full. Also are you going to spend time at the hotel or not. We went in December and used the pool almost everyday sometimes 2 times a day. We also went back to the room to leave stuff or just take a nap.

I don't think i was much help in helping you go with PP.

For a summer visit I’d definitely stay at DLH over PPH. The pools at DLH are amazing. The pool at PPH is meh.
Well, actually for any visit I’d pick the DLH over PPH. I used to really like PPH, but now that you can’t cut through The Grand Californian Hotel I don’t enjoy staying there anymore. We’ve stayed there once since they blocked access and it really just diminished the value in my eyes. We used to like to have breakfast at White water snacks or go to the Lounge area and of course, we’d also use the Grand to access the parks in the morning.
Go with DLH!
