July questions

We have a trip planned for April, but due to some unexpected health issues with my MIL are trying to plan in case we need to change our vacation. So, if I understand my handbook correctly, I can change my reservation if we need and points go into holding for use in the current use year, which unfortunately for us ends July 31 (we have an August use year).

Has anyone been in July? How busy are the DVC properties? Any and all feedback is much appreciated!

We just went last July, and I'm pretty sure we didn't book it until April of last year. We were able to get a 2 bedroom at OKW with no problem, and our unit was ready when we arrived at 11am. The parks were busy, but not unmanageable with fastpasses and extra magic hours. Early mornings and late day/evening times at the parks were the most enjoyable, with afternoons spent relaxing in our villa or on our patio, or at the pool. Another family stayed with us on their first trip with their young boys, and they can't wait to go back, so July was fine for them too. Have a great trip!

We have only gone in July. It's hot and humid and busy in the parks. We go to the parks when they open and leave around lunch time, finding cool things to do in the afternoon. Return to the parks after (or for) dinner.

Pace yourselves and drink lots of water - then have FUN!!

July was fine for us last year, we were there for 3 weeks. It does get a bit hot in the afternoone but we just alternated with a lot of indoor activities in the afternoon.

But, if you really dont want to go in July you could always RENT your points, save the money and use it to rent points for your trip when you are ready to go....
