My husband and I have been planning a trip in October. We are taking 2 of my sisters, and because they are only allowed to miss one day of school, we will be there over Columbus day weekend and just get 4 days in the parks. (The last day, we will have to leave at 3pm, but we will go to AK that day).

We were thinking of changing out plans to mid-July. We would be able to spend and extra day and a half then. But, of course it is much hotter and much more crowded.

WHAT TO DO!??!?!

If it were me, I'd go in October. We were there in early October one year and it was wonderful! Very light crowds, walked right on most rides/attractions and better weather. To me the heat of July and the crowds isn't worth an extra day in the parks. That's me though.

October, definately! :flower: The crowds will be lighter, there is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Food and Wine Festival.

July vs. October = quantity vs. quality

You may get an extra day or so, but you will see a LOT less attractions. I understand some people have no choice but to go in the summer, but you couldn't pay me to visit WDW at that time.

I agree....your at WDW longer in July BUT alot of the time (late morning to mid afternoon) you will be spending it at the hotel pool or inside or miserable in the heat (especially for us north of the mason-dixon line)....We like October because the weather is beautiful (assuming no hurricanes) even in the mid day. We would sleep in alittle and get to the parks about 9:30 and stay until 3:00 or longer.

Before I even read all of your post, I knew the answer to be OCTOBER!!!! I would never choose July when I could do Oct. The Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP are not to be missed. Not to mention, the weather in Oct. is far superior to a sweltering July!!

I agree...I've been to WDW in October, November and April (end into May) and my favorite time is October. We've been in October a few times. The weather is great and there are hardly any lines. Even in April into May it is too hot. I couldn't imagine going in July. I've never run into problems with hurricanes, they are usually gone by September. Good luck, hope this helps you.

Coming from someone who has been going in July a couple of times now.....Go in October!!!

I wouldlove to bring the kids to MNSSHP, unfortunately, my D cannot take time off then so we go in July when his workplace shut downs for 3 weeks. I agree that the crowds are bigger and the heat is bad, but the hours are longer, every attraction is open, and you get an evening show EVERY night in the summer.

October is cheaper to go though.....the hotel rooms are less expensive. Do the parks close earlier in Oct.? In July most of them stay open late, and if you add evening and morning EMH I think you can get alot of the attractions done.

Tough decision .......

i say go both times. take your time on your july trip. see the parades, hit the shows, take your time in the heat. then in october go nuts.

If you like very hot weather, long lines go in July. If you like warm weather, short lines go in October.

July is toooo hot. I passed out at MGM the one time I went in July. Never again.

Definitely October, not as crowded and not as hot. I love going in February but forced to go in July because of the kids' schooling. We are just going to make a beeline for rides we have not been on before.

I haye been to wdw in july and october i i will never go in july again.i can cope with the heat or the crowds.but both together i found inpossible.when we went in july it was busy all the time.but in october you could go to one of the parks one day and if it was busy leave go back to hotel pool and return later or the next day and the park would be empty

My mom passed out once in August. It is hard to remember how hot it is in July. But waiting in long lines in the heat sounds horrible.

Hi Abay, went in July 2004 and will be going again in July this year.
We don't mind the heat (probably cos its usually chilly where I come from) and

as for the lines, if you are early risers and at the parks for opening you WILL NOT have to line up.

We also left most parks by 2pm cos it is unbearably crowded by that time

However I do appreciate that getting up really early on vacation is not an option for some people but it suits my family.

Hope this is of use

Cheers D
