July exercise challenge--time to make your 1/2 year resolution to be healthy and fit!

Hi Rose.
Thanks for doing this challenge this month. It is really so helpful to me too. Even though I don't get on here much to update, I keep track at home and it keeps me moving.

I'm in for 1000 again, and am at 130/1000 so far.

I was 15 minutes short last month, which right now is so stupid that I didn't get on the wii fit before bed that night, but i guess last wednesday night, it seemed like too much. :confused3 I'll do better this month.

Good luck everyone.

Hi Rose,

7/3= 21
7/4= 20
7/5= 35

I will definitely be swimming today, so I'm sure I'll add more minutes to today's total. So far, my total for the month is 151/750. Thanks and have good one!

:wave2: Hi CC!

Bless you guys for making me consistent and accountable!!

Happy day to all! :thumbsup2
You're doing all the hard work! Keep it up!:cool1:

Can I join too? Not new to DIS, but haven't done an exercise challenge in a long time.

Hmm, a goal. I am going to say 1600? I'm training for a half on Aug 1, so that might be low...

07/01: 46 min (~4 mile run/walk)
07/03: 145 min (~10 mile run/walk)

So, 191/1600.

Welcome!

545/3000

My new goal is to reach 500 miles before I leave for FL on the 20th. After my walk this morning I'm at 457..9.....but I've done 24.14 so far this month. So I think I can make it!
I think that's a very achievable goal!:thumbsup2 Doesn't that work out to about three miles a day?
170/1200

If it's not too late, I'd love to join this challenge.

:banana::banana: Good luck everyone :banana::banana:
Welcome!

I'll jump in here on this thread and say that mowing the lawn should certainly count.

I'll commit to 900 minutes for July. I'm going to be on the Magic's repositioning cruise in September and I would like to lose 20 more pounds before than. That's a lot to lose in two and a half months but I'll be happy with just half that gone. Set the goal high and I'm more likely to work hard to achieve it. In the past I've lost 40 pounds with low carb I've mainly kept it off but that old saying about gaining 10 pounds a decade is just about right in my case. This time I'm going to just watch portions and up my exercise.

I know you can do it this time, Kathy!:goodvibes

Looks like everyone is getting some exercise despite the heat! I did the elliptical today. My strength class was cancelled because of the holiday. Tomorrow I'm taking a run after work with DH. It will be in the 90's so we will probably end up walking some.

I'm at 161/1500. Stay cool everyone!

250/1380

7/1: Spinning
7/2: Strength training/jogging
7/3: Step
7/4: Rest
7/5: Jogging (3 miles), Strength Training

90/405 + 10/405 = 100/405

Starting slow but it's going well - happy day to everyone!

:goodvibes

Updated: added 10 more minutes - went for a quick walk with the family - stopped and chatted with new neighbors so didn't walk as long as intended but great meeting the families!

Thanks for the welcome, Rose!! I'm loving these boards. Such great motivation!! :)

275/1500. :yay: :yay:

85/1400

I have a lo-o-ng way to go! :scared:

Hello!

I did another 75 minutes yesterday in the pool, plus 45 minutes this morning and 25 in the pool earlier this evening. That brings me to 296/750.

Thanks Rose!

I'm going for 700 this month.

7/5 30min treadmill
7/6 60min elliptical

90/700

I'm at 240/1300!

Thanks for taking over this month, Rose!

My pleasure!:goodvibes

Hang in there! There is a lot of July left!

:rotfl::rotfl: I don't rock, I meant to say minutes, not miles :rotfl::rotfl:
:)

Julie--how is your daughter? Are you getting excited about your trip?

I'm at 340/1500. Did a run yesterday--yuck it was hot! Did strength and the elliptical today.

Food for thought--in case you needed some extra reasons to exercise in this heat, found this on thedietchannel.com. Some are more obvious than others.
1. Lower your body fat through exercise
Regular exercise helps lower stores of body fat.
2. Exercise will increase your muscle tone
3. Improve your heart and blood vessel health as a result of exercise

The cardiovascular system needs regular aerobic exercise to keep the heart and all the blood vessels strong. It’s regular exercise that helps develop cardiovascular health, not a thin body.

4. Realize significant circulation benefits by exercising
Increase your circulation from exercising regularly and you’ll see some other remarkable benefits like skin tone. Skin that sweats regularly stays looking more alive both in its color and in its complexion.

5. With exercise you can avoid long term weight gain

6. Guard your psychological health by exercising

A great way to tackle depression and mood swings is through regular exercise. Many people who begin exercise programs to lose weight or get healthy soon realize the wonderful added benefit fitness has on their state of mind. Work out on a regular basis and enjoy the effects of the body’s own mood elevating endorphins. When these powerful drugs kick in chances are depression won’t. And, when you feel happier you look happier. Others around you will notice.

Stay cool everyone!!!:goodvibes

These are great, Rose! Thanks! I particularly found #3 interesting. My friend mentioned that her doctor told her she was exercising enough to keep her heart healthy, but I was confused as she is quite overweight. Her doctor's comment makes much more sense now.

I did another 45 minutes on the Wii today plus 30 minutes in the pool bringing me to 371/750. Since that's over half and today is only July 7th (I apologize to those struggling :goodvibes), I'm going to increase my goal to 900 minutes. This challenge and the BL challenge are truly the keys to my weight loss success! :)

Thanks Rose!

CC
