July 8, 2012 5 Night Bahamian Cruise

This is our 7th cruise, but I just joined this forum. I am sailing (July 8, DD) with my son who is 17 and who really enjoys the Vibe. I purchased the special VGT and got assigned the cabin #7646. It was a happy upgrade. I love a Disney Cruise vacation, it is the only way (as a single mom) that I am truly on a vacation. Please include me on group activities.

Hi Egitana, Welcome! I don't think there are any group activities planned, but we do have a meet on first day, straight after Muster Drill at Waves, for all the youngsters to get together - I too am travelling on my own with teens so it will be nice to say Hi, so hope you can make that.

Hi Just saw your other message, we are on late dining - you?

Hi Everyone,
We purchased this cruise a few months ago and I kept saying I would post here to meet you and to get some questions answered. I have been eavesdropping but I see several pages have been added since I last read this!

I'm Lynne and we're (DH Mitchell) traveling with DD and her family. We're from Alabama. You'll recognize us when you see grandparents, (one skinny, DH, and one fat, me, (on a walker with knee brace)) chasing a 2 1/2 year old (with a head full of curls) hollering, 'Kierstin, Kierstin' along with her pregnant blonde mother and Dad (Ingrid & David).

Although we've been on around 30 cruises, this is our first Disney and I have a ton of questions. I know people are packing today (although a lot of you finished a week ago and I haven't started;o) but some of you Disney Veterans might answer some questions:

1. Formal Night? Do our DHs have to wear a suit because they don't want to?
2. Corkage fee? How much is it and is there one if we drink wine in the cabin?
3. Princess Tea and Character Breakfast? I've read that some sailings have these--do we? How do we sign up?

We are in cabins 10566 & 68 and are looking forward to meeting you. I had 2 more questions however when I tried to post, the entire message was erased. Perhaps I'll remember later.
Thanking y'all in advance!

We are sailing on Sunday, right? I just checked my reservations and it said, "SAILING IN ONE DAY". I about had a heart attack:hourglass! Anyway, another question:
5. Should I buy a picture package?

Welcome Aboard!

1. I don't think they "have" to - I did on our two previous DCL cruises. You'll see everything that night - but for the most part - folks are pretty dressed up.

2. I don't remember the corkage fee - but none in your room. Bring a corkscrew though.

3. I think this is only the 7 night cruises. We did this same cruise last year and no character meals.

Sunday it is :).

Great question - I'm curious about this too. We have not done it previously, but have spent a ton on pics :).

OK that;s it - all packed up and ready to go:cool1: We leave first thing in the morning, so hopefully meet you all after muster drill on Sunday - YEY:cool1:
Safe travels everyone.

We are late dinning too. I do not know our rotation yet. I hope to meet you after the drill

Hope everyone had as great a cruise as we did. Loved it again. Not sure we can wait until next year.

We had a great time! I'm sorry I didn't make it to the meet up after the muster drill--was busy trying to unpack and get ready for dinner. I was lucky to get switched to early dining--I was first on the list to change it because I was one of the first in line for dining changes!

The only thing that put a damper on the trip is that we all caught a stomach virus. DS Tyler got sick at the Hyatt the night before, and we thought it was just the chicken tenders he had before bed didn't sit well with him, because he was completely fine the next morning. But then night 1 on the ship my other son got sick, so DH and I took turns staying in the room with him all day Monday. Then DH and I got sick on night 2 and missed the whole Nassau day. DH had to go to the medical center for IV fluids and anti-nausea meds because he couldn't stop vomiting! So we were quarantined for 24 hours. Not fun. Fortunately it was just a 24 hour thing, so each of us was fine after about 12 hours, and Nassau was the end of it. We were able to enjoy the last days of the cruise and the weekend in Vero Beach with friends!

BTW--I saw Mark and Bingo twice! Both times I was rushing to get somewhere and couldn't stop to say hi and introduce myself, and then I didn't see them again after that.
