hi everyone - thanks for the welcome! We are getting so excited between reading the posts & checking out all the shore excursions.

We're also not going too formal on for dining - I would love dh to bring his tux but with all the luggage restrictions we're leaving it home. We're also spending some extra days in London before & after the cruise. Dh's family is originally from Wales so he's hoping we can get up there, ds' want to go to Stonhendge & of course who can resist Big Ben & Parliament. We also got some suggestions for Dover. I think we're going to try & stick too much in!

But sooooooo excited!

So, what suggestions do you have for Dover? Good place to eat maybe? We'll be there the day before, but I haven't really looked into anything yet. My BF wants to go to the lighthouse. Thanks for any info you can share.

Someone is organizing a dinner for all of us who are in Dover the night before. You should join us.

I don't remember who it is, but you can scroll back a few pages or perhaps she'll post a little reminder and invite!

Got a PM from her. Sounds like fun.

Yep...it's me

Cindy (nzdisneymom) has added it to the first page of the thread so hopefully newcomers will find it.

Ok- another thing to check off the list.:thumbsup2
We bought trip insurance today. We don't usually get it (I know, risky)
but I wanted the medical and evacuation for this unusual trip.
Not too bad..179 for the 4 of us.

I still have to do that. That price doesn't seem bad at all. What company was this thru?

I'm rebuilding our website and wondering how much interest there is in the fish extender program. I think it sound fun, but have never done one. Can someone tell me the jest of the program so I know how to map it out on our new site?

Thanks
Jeff

I'm just curious. Is anyone planning to go on the shore excursion--the Royal Ball at St. Catherine's Palace? It seems very expensive but I wonder if it's worth it. We don't have children but it sounds so wonderful. But I'm curious if many people will decide it's worth the expense.
We were waiting for the price and it's a deal breaker for us, since there would be 3 of us. It's cool and all to be in the palace with just DCL but man, that's just such a dear price!! We'll have to make the most of our 'royal' experience on the Prince and Princess nights onboard.

Yes, we agree with you. After listening to people's comments on this thread and looking over the prices, we just can't justify the cost. Thanks so much for your comments.

I saw you had an answer regarding the fish extenders. Originally, I think someone signed up to run it for our group. Is that still true?
We'd like to participate. I could help if need be.:)

Threebritts (Heather) had volunteered to coordinate it - but I haven't seen her in a little bit. Jeff, if you want to pop a PM to her to see?

We are interested - I have an idea for what I want to bring for our FE gifts - just got to make sure I can get them done. I do know that FE gifts start taking up a lot of luggage room, but we've already figured out that we will do laundry twice on the trip so we know how much we need to pack, so that might give us a bit more room. Although we won't be packing much in the way of shorts and t-shirts as the temps will be chillier than further south in the Med.

Will do. So do you bring a fish gift for everyone doing fish extender everyday? It seems like it could take up a lot of luggage space on a 12 day cruise.

Here it is! Our new site. http://pounds2rubles.wikidot.com/castaways

Three pages so far.

  1. Castaways
  2. Port Information
  3. Miscellaneous Information
On the "Castaways" Menu (which is the front page) you'll find:
  • Castaways Sorted A to Z (I have only listed people who OK'd me to list them on the last website. If you want your party to be added (and I hope you do), look at the info and send me a PM.
  • Cruise Meets & Activities (This area is kind of weak right now)
  • Pre-Cruise (Dover dinner list)
  • On-Board Meets and Activities (fish extender list)
  • Special Occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc celebrated on this cruise)
  • Cruise Want Ads - yes want ads! (looking for something? Ask here! Really we have two up so far.)
  • Burning Questions (questions that have been asked and answered on other threads that may help the group or questions specefic to our group)

On the "Port Information" Menu you'll find information I've started collecting from the boards and other places on all our stops (PM me links to the DIS (or other page info) of information you want added):

  • London/Dover
  • Olslo
  • Copenhagen
  • Warnemunde (Berlin)
  • Saint Petersburg
  • Helsinki
  • Stockholm

On the "Miscellaneous Information" Menu you'll find Just that. Stuff I've yet to catagorize into other pages that I think is prudent to keep (PM me links to the DIS (or other page info) of information you want added):

  • Maps and Driving Directions for Port of Dover
  • Dining Rotation and Entertainment Schedule
  • Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm
  • DCL Videos
  • Informative Blogs and Websites

Access all pages by clicking the "top menu" (in green on top). Please help me with this. It is our website for this cruise. I have thick skin and am wide open to constructive criticism and/or suggestions.

Here's hoping for a ton of PM's or I'll watch the posts here for the OK to add your party's info to our site.

In addition, anyone who is familar with wiki's and wants to help administer the site is more than welcome to do so.

Thanks
Jeff

We just bring one gift. I've seen it where days are assigned to certain people to make sure you get something everyday, or just randomly deliver at your own leisure. People have done a family gift and others have given something to each person in the family. Really it's up to you on what you want to do. You shouldn't stress out over it-should be fun.
