OK. I'm beginning to feel like a thread killer. Where did everyone go?

Hi everyone. My life has been extremely hectic for the last month. i haven't had time to even lurk. I am the committee chairperson for my son's cub scout pack...probably the equivalent of "team mom" for a team of 50 boys. we just had our Blue & Gold Banquet last week. (birthday of cub scouts) Also having some family drama. my sister is mentally ill and not capable of taking care of her illegitimate newborn. my whole family is trying to get guardianship of my niece until my sister can get her sh*t together. my mother currently has temporary guardianship ruled by the court in an emergency ex parte hearing a couple weeks ago, and we will find out in court on April 20th if we have permanent guardianship. our goal is to naturally return her to my sister...she needs to get herself better first. please don't judge...we have the best interest of my niece in mind. my sister has already had her other 6 children taken away by child services because of neglect and emotional abuse. if the court rules in our favor, my DH and i will be raising her until the court rules she is capable. after 2 years we have the option to adopt her.

Deborah,

OK, DH, DS and i have a new vacation to look forward to. we used our DVC points and traded into Kaanapali Beach Club on Maui. we are going in July. we are also thinking about hitting "the World" in December. that should help time fly before our European adventure.

Have a good week everyone.

Hi everyone I'm still here just been busy. We are in the middle of planning for our cruise this summer we are actually doing a grand gathering event at Epcot with some of the group before the cruise. Looking forward to that as it means we wont have to sit around and wait just to make sure we have a spot for illuminations. Oh and guess what I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!! I'm so excited just found out Monday. It's going to be odd switching mid year and I will miss the kids I have now but I'm so looking forward to this.

Lissa - congratulations on the new job! Enjoy!

We are at the beginning of standardized testing this week. We called DVC on a lark yesterday afternoon and were able to get a studio at Old Key West, so we're heading to WDW for the weekend - our tix expire on the 30th. The boys are looking forward to these things: a pretzel from Wetzel's Pretzels, Toy Story Mania, American Idol, lunch at Pizza Planet, doing the Kim Possible adventure at Epcot. Nathan has three days of testing (2 this week and one on Monday) while Zachary has five days (three this week and two next week). So this trip will truly be all about them and whatever they want to do.

:rotfl:
I've been lurking. Busy planning our first trip back to WDW in June. Going with four other families (Grand Gathering of 17). Then we'll meet up with DH's cousins on the Wonder. We'll wave to Jeff and family as we pass by at MCO.

That sounds like a fun trip. Lots of friends and family.

Jeff

Where is Wetzel's Pretzels? I love soft, warm pretzels with spicy cheese sauce! :lovestruc

Cindy have fun at WDW this weekend. I'm dieing to go but no spring break this year and starting a new job means I'll have to wait till July. We started end of grade testing this week. I felt so sorry for my students as they looked exhausted by the end of the day and we've got three more days to go.

Hi Guys,

I too have just been lurking and figured it was time to post.

So what do you guys think of the new ships' names? I'm really kind of indifferent about them :confused3 Will be awhile before we sail them (have to pay off our Baltic cruise first  )

I decided to check my reservation information on DCL's website. Well, my DU travel agent was partially sucessful - one of our two stateroom reservations made it to Main Dinning  Sent her an email asking her to make sure the other one is not forgotten, that would kind of suck

Still trying to figure out our precruise plans. In '07 we stopped in London for a few days on our way to Barcelona. We saw a couple of shows (not sure what to call them 'cuz its not Broadway (Broadway Shows - you know what I mean?)) and did the site seeing bit, so not sure if the family would enjoy hanging in London that much (plan on arriving July 3).

So I was thinking of maybe doing the London/Paris Eurostar and hitting Disney Land Paris (DLP). Anyone been there - done that and would like to share your experiences? You know, best/least expensive places to stay, eat, etc.?

It seems like it would be kind of fun, but I dread the logistics of it all - fly to London, stay a night, train to DLP, stay a day or two, train back to London, then train/bus/car to Dover port. OR maybe leave on the 2nd, fly into Paris, do DLP, train to London, then get to Dover. Oh my, what to do?

What's frustrating is that I can't get any air fares yet. Also, I'v found that UK residents are privy to some discounts to DLP resorts (something like 40%) that are not available to us US folks :headache: Any of our "UK" cousins willing to let us use your address ;)?

That's it for now, back to lurking for awhile :surfweb: I'll be at our AYSO Section 13 Conference this weekend (Registration Coordinator) in Bethesda, MD. Talk to you soon!

Greetings! Sorry to be among the missing for so long here. John had a convention in Las Vegas to attend, so I went along as our 5 year anniversary is coming up and we were married in Vegas too.

Unfortunately, I got very ill there - in bed for 3 out of the 4 days sigh...managed to get home and the doctor put me right in the hospital. Got out Monday and home recuperating here now. Planning to go back to work tomorrow, even if I still don't have much energy or voice, lol.

Was hoping to hit it big in Vegas, but no go. Did get to spend a couple hours in the casino before getting sick, though. Hope to go back some other time, probably not in the near future, however.

Planning now for our WDW June trip, then will be in full Baltic planning mode, lol. :)

Carol - welcome back and sorry to read that you were so ill. Take care and ease back into things.

I am afraid that it is still poor rates - I mean exchange dollars are very low...

it cost more expensive for us...

We have not cancel it yet, we wait and see until end of this year...

Finger Cross... hope we make it....

Today was kind of sad knowing this would be my last week with my current students. We finished end of grade testing and only have a month and a half of school left. A lot of that time is filled with fun activities and were closed three days for Easter. We've got a party planned on Friday and I've been telling myself that i can not cry. I've had my fourth graders for two years now I'm a little attached. I start my new job next Monday.

Lissa

I don't know if you guys remember, but in January I lost my job when Circuit City closed. Well...today (exactly 2 months to the day) I GOT A NEW JOB!!! :)

It's still in Richmond, so I don't have to move and it's doing something I love. I'm so excited, but I had to share because I had so many well wishes from you guys that I had to give you the good news.

Sigh...I'll sleep good tonight. :goodvibes

Hello Everybody

Just let you know that I have a mixed feeling today....

My husband and I had been discussed last weekend and we had make up our minds that we had cancel this cruise...,

Because of poor exchange rates are not very good... that made us to pay more pounds .. it is very expensive for us...

We were so much looking forward to this cruise...

We told our kids on Sunday night and they understand it.

However, we have change it to 'Dover to Barcelona' so the kids are happy...

I think kids are not bothering about ports as they seem to be happy on the Cruise....

We still hold the pounds until exchange rates get better - who know??

(Beth - I am so sorry about this and Olivia will write tomorrow)....

We will miss you all but I will be pop in and have a chat with you all..
