That does sound amazing.:lovestruc
I am just afraid it will be soooo expensive.

Sure wish they would post times and prices.

Joanne

Yeah, I'm afraid of the same thing. It just might have to be one of those once in a lifetime things and I cut back somewhere else... like no eating while we're in St Petersburg! I just hope Disney takes some pity on us!

Good news is we aren't the first and can always cancel if the reviews come back that it wasn't worth it!

I don't think you can. From what I've read, once you choose a "signature" excursion, they are nonrefundable. Makes it even harder to decide.

What about the dover excursions? They say signature, but you can only purchase them onboard.

That's a very good question. I wish I knew the answer!:)

I bet someone on here will, though!

Which one says Signature only that requires booking on board? I see Lion King and it says book ahead and the private car one has a form to down load to book. I don't think I'm looking in the right spot. Can you provide a link? The signature ones seem to be the most interesting.. I can say some of the tours offered are a bit disappointing.. Tina

Sorry I just checked and I realize that the debarkation tours to Dover are not Signature.

That's good because it means they won't be as expensive.

Anything that says Signature worries me.

So when is 120 days? I guess you can only book if you've already paid in full?

I've been researching a bit about Copenhagen. It looks amazing. Anyone been there? We're interested in the Castles of North Zealand tour, but that wouldn't really give us time to see the city. This Hop-on Hop-Off bus tour has good reviews from past cruise passengers.

I've added the info to the wiki page.

We were looking at the Castles of North Zealand tour as well. I have a 12 year old crazy for Hamlet (go figure!). I would love to see some of the city as well. Can't seem to find any private tours.

From Disney Cruise web site: Access opens 75 days prior to embarkation, 90 days prior for Castaway Club members, and 105 days prior for Concierge Guests. Also, note that access to My Cruise Plans closes 3 days before your cruise departure date.

If you are Platinum Castaway Club member you will see this note:
Because you are a PLATINUM member, you can start booking onboard fun and port adventures on March 08, 2010 (120 days before sailing).

And yes you are right - Your cruise has to be paid in full before you can book anything.

Any Platinum members interested in having our complimentary Palo Dinner together?

I was looking for private tour operators as well when I found the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tours. It will be interestign to see prices on these tours.

Any one know the answer to this? If you can't take Rubles out of Russia-how do you buy rubles to make small purchases in Russia?

I was wondering the same. My guess would be there are currency exchange booths at port just like in airports!!!

Went to order our oyster cards for London yesterday but shipping was so expensive. I want to spread out our funds so we don't take a huge hit after the cruise when the American express bill is due. Going to the AAA and exchanging the amount in pounds so we can load them up when we get to Heathrow. We decided to take the Tube Piccadilly to Hammersmith and transfer to District to Wesminster and walk across the bridge to Marriott County Hall. More likely hail a cab and take the cab across the bridge. Changed our minds from taking the Heathrow connect (which is half the price and only 10 extra minutes than the Heathrow express) and cab from Paddington. We rented a car for 2 days before the cruise. we are going to drive out to Stonehenge and also try to do some geocaching out in the countryside...maybe going as far as wales if we leave early enough. keeping the car overnight and driving it to Dover. We will have the car in Dover as well to see the sights. we got a smoking good deal i think for a 4 door with air...64 pounds for two days and a different drop off. YES I KNOW IT WILL BE HALF THAT JUST TO PARK THE CAR AT THE MARRIOTT. It was still less than trying to book an excursion for 3 to stonehenge and transport to dover. Now to get back from dover to london. maybe splurge and hire a car to take us!!! any suggestions?

Beth...
what car company did you call to get such a great rate?
I need to do the little things still:
transportation from Paris airport to Marriott's at DLP
Car for a few days while at DLP
Ferry from France to Dover (drop off car in Calais)

Guess I should get moving on this car thing....:confused3

Hertz car rental online. we were originally quoted ~100 pounds for the car we selected...ford mondeo 4-5 door midsize manual air. then DH got online sunday night and there it was for 64. he gets an IBM discount attached to his hertz member card. He hasn't worked for IBM for many years but hey...i'm not telling!!! I told him you better snag it. We are picking it up at marble arch...only location other than heathrow open on sundays and dropping it 2 days later in dover tuesday morning on snargate street.

starting to freak out a little because i am not sure about the shore excursions yet. I NEED PRICES!!! oh and this debarkation tour for london. sounds like a good way to get back. but what is the deal with not being able to prebook? are we supposed to cross our fingers and pray we get it. kinda stupid!!! arrange transfer back to london, book excursion and somehow cancel transportation while on the ship? really?

I agree with your point about the debarkation tours. I am really interested in them and my hotel is only 5 minutes away from the DCL hotel. But it does worry me that we can only book onboard for the same reasons previously posted.

I think if when the prices come out they are reasonable, I might just try to sort out the busses or trains as an alternative in case the tours are booked.

I finally booked my airfare...its on Air Transat, codesharing with Thomas Cook (charter flights). I am nervous about booking a charter, but the cost savings is huge! $2000.

Now I need to figure out how to get to Dover from Gatwick. Probably going to go by private car, so if anyone wants to recommend a company, please go ahead.

Now that I've booked my air and my insurance (my hotels have been booked for some time)...I'm starting to get super excited! So much to organize and plan!

These boards are just great!

So, I found out today that Hermitage is closed on Monday, Catherine's palace is closed on Tuesday. We are in St. Petersburg on Mon & Tuesday. Also, the tour guide said that I'd have to cut something out since we arrive so late on Monday. Anyways... still trying to decide..
