We are confirmed at the Hubert House. It received wonderful reviews on trip advisor and they were so quick in responding. I think the rate is reasonable, especially for a family room. I really wanted to be in town. I like waking up early in the morning and watching the ship come in.:lovestruc

I contacted them last night and there room for 3, is 80 pounds. They also advised the 3rd person, a teen, be under 16. A double room was either 60 pounds and is a small double. It looks nice but is more expensive then others in the area....
My teen is over 16 in fact she is 19 now...so I guess she will not really be a teen next year....so I wonder if they would not let her be in our room? So more checking....:surfweb:

I saw a room on their website for 3 adults for 90 pounds, maybe it's not available now. I already have the room booked at the Ramada for 3 adults for I think 92 pounds, but doesn't include breakfast. I just left mine. The Hubert House does look nice.

This isn't the site I used yesterday, but here's another link just to see that there is a 3 adult room if interested.

I sent them an email enquiry. They were quick to respond. You might try that.

Thanks- I did email them, and you're right, they were very fast in responding. The price is about the same between them and the Ramada, so I just left the ramada for now. I also still have a place booked at Folkestone for 36 pounds for 3 adults-60 pound difference. It's about 7 miles from Dover, but I want to look into taxi rates from there to Dover. We'll need one from the rail station to the hotel and then back into Dover for the sights, back again to the hotel, and then to the port the next morning. If it's only a small difference after that I'll just keep the Ramada.

Anyone know about taxi rates there yet?

I wrote the Hubert House again and the rate went to 95 pounds since my DD is over 16.
We, most likely, will be arriving by train from DLP and I just found out that the nearest stop is Ashford. That is about 20 miles away from Dover. So now I am also looking there and in Folkestone. We can then take a taxi into Dover.

Still have to do the day after in London and transportation to London...

It's too bad I have to work everyday:confused3 I have to plan this out and it just gets in the way:lmao:

That's funny, I just realized the Ashford stop was near Folkestone. I was researching some taxis into from Folkestone into Dover. I found a local company that I have a quote request into. I'm trying to find out if the 60 pounds between the hotel in Dover and the one in Folkestone is worth the extra distance. Ramada just emailed me and said it's about a 10 pound fare from the hotel to the west docks.
I just found out from a friend that the day we planned to do the day trip to Paris (Sunday the 4th) was a bad idea because alot of things are closed including the Eiffel tower. This was a few years ago, so I don't know if it still holds true. If that's the case, we're going to have to go the day we arrive in London (6:35 am), drop off the luggage first at the Chancery and then catch the train to Paris. Talk about being exhausted!!!
I haven't planned on transportation back from the port yet. Probably take the train again into London. We'll just take a cab from the port the Dover Priory.

I don't think the rates are so bad. The concern might be if the taxi can hold you and all your luggage, depending on how much you're bringing. We are hoping to pack lighter for this trip than we did for the TA in 2007. We had wayyy too much stuff. The other reason we want to spend the night in town (Dover) before the cruise is to stop at an off-license and pick up some wine to take onboard.

Funny, I was looking at this Folkestone this week online. Sounds like it is close to Dover then?

Decisions decisions...

Pretty close....the other hotel I have held there says it's about 7 miles from Dover (don't know what part of Dover). I found a what I think is a local taxi charging from Folkestone to Dover 12 pounds for a car and 15 for van(it says multi person vehicle that hold up to 8) . From the Ramada in Dover to the west docks she said is about 10 pounds. I thought I was going to save 60 pounds, but in actuality it'll probably be 30 because we were going to spend the day in Dover after dropping off and checking in at hotel, so that's a couple extra taxi rides. I just may stay in Dover now.

as you said decisions decisions....

BTW here's that taxi company I saw: www.jjtaxis.com

For anyone coming home the day of the cruise, I saw posted not to book your return flights until after 1pm.

Here is some info I just got from the B & B we are thinking of using in Dover.

Appx. cost of taxi from Ashford to Dover currently: from £45.00
The following sites may be useful: www.dovertaxis.com www.central-taxis.com
You can also visit www.nationalrail.co.uk for train timetables & rates from Ashford to Dover.

I checked the national rail and you can't look out to next July but current rates are about £ 8-9 pp for train travel from Ashford to Dover.

We are most likely going to stay in Dover the 2 nights before the cruise. Just waiting to hear if rooms are still available before we book.

Thinking of going into London on the 5th for a day trip from Dover. I'm sure there is a train we could ride.

Hi! I am new to this board. My family and I (my husband, my 5 and 10 year old children, and myself) are going to be on the July 6 Baltic cruise and are very excited! This will be our first Disney cruise.

I have a question for you. We are planning on arriving in London a few days prior to our cruise. We've been to London a couple of times before, and I know we'll be able to book a room on our own, but was thinking it might be easier and more convenient to book through Disney.

I just called Disney to see about booking a room in London for our pre-cruise stay and was informed that all of their rooms in London are already booked! I was surprised since we are still almost a year out from the cruise. They placed us on a waiting list for a room, and said that if one opens up someone from reservations will call us and give us a price, and at that time we'll have the option of booking the room through them or declining it.

I was wondering if, in your experience, more rooms will open up or if no more rooms will be available? Also, do you know if we have to book our hotel through Disney in order to take advantage of Disney transportation to Dover?

In the interim, I am thinking about going ahead and booking something on my own just in case, particularly since Wimbledon finals are that weekend and I'm sure London will be crowded!

Hi and welcome to our cruise!

I am thinking the problem may be that you are a family of 4 that needs to stay in one room. This is more difficult to find in Europe and rooms for 2 are far more common.

There are some on this cruise thread with families of 4 so perhaps they have some hotel ideas for you. Also, I would try contacting the hotels directly, instead of going thru DCL as they reserve blocks of rooms and there may be some availability, just not thru them.

We booked the Renaissance Chancery Court on our own via their website and paid far less than DCL prices. That would be 2 rooms of 2 each that we needed.

I believe others have posted that you can book the DCL transport to Dover without booking the hotel thru them. The train also sounds very convenient.

:)

I booked our two night pre cruise stay in Dover :cool1: We will be staying at Dover's Restover B & B. It is very close to the terminal and the owner has been very nice in answering my millions of questions! We think we will do a day trip into London on the 5th from Dover.

I am looking into maybe flying out the day the cruise docks. Looks like the flight would leave at 230. Just tossing it around. The hotels in London are very expensive and most sleep 2. Just a thought. Hate doing it.

Also getting info about the ferry from Calais, France over to Dover to get us from Disneyland Paris to our B & B.

Wow... you all have been very busy getting your plans together.

I'm still waiting for my airline dates to open up and then, I'll reserve the transportation to and from. Hard to believe this trip is less than 11 months away. YIKES!!!

We are leaving the day the cruise docks. Last time we stayed one night afterwards when we did the Med cruise and my kids we too wiped out to enjoy anything. They fell asleep on our double decker bus tour throughout Spain. I found a flight on United that leaves at 3:30 pm so, it works for me.
