I just spoke with my fathir in law. he said he caught a bus from downtaown London in the morning. they toured windsor castle, Bathe, stonhenge and some other stop. they had lunch at a 700 year old inn. he said it was a day trip...leave in the morning and come back in the evening. i'm down for that. he said it was ~$100.

Hey Dw, our family of 4, would be interested in doing something like this. Do you are have it set up, where you are staying in London...and did you do it through Disney

I haven't even looked into Stonehenge yet officially. i would absolutely like to set something up in the future for those of us who are staying in London precruise. i ask that you wait for March. I am planning an annual cub scout event to be held 2/28. i just need to get through that and i will have a bunch more free time. should we start a stonehenge interest list? Anyone interested in taking a tour to Stonhenge pre cruise PM me and i will start a list. maybe we could get monstro to add it to the website!!

we have no reservations in london yet. we are going to use marriott miles and have to wait until july or august. but i will be looking into that in March as well.

I'm interested in all sorts of things, however, my mind is on my 2009 summer vacation.

I have booked 4 nights in Dover pre-cruise, and 7 nights in London post-cruise, but don't want to start thinking about anything else until 2010.

My ABD is taking all my attention and worry right now as Disney is cancelling tours left right and centre, and I'm so worried that my tour will be next.

We might be interested in doing Stonehenge I'll have to ask. Right now we are busy planning our cruise for this summer. This is the first time we will not have to wait two years between cruises. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

You can definitely stay in Paris and visit DLP. As I recall it is about a 45 minute train ride. When we visited DLP we decided to split our stay and spent 3 nights in Paris at 2 at DLP. It let us experience some of both places.

Yes, I am very willing to organize the FE teams. I have started a spreadsheet with names which I can later when everyones confirmed make into teams, that way can also keep the families together if they want. I had gotten a quote on lanyards too ,just wasnt sure what everyone wanted. I think when I looked awhile back they would be like $1.25 apiece with whatever logo and plastic holder for our keycards.

Ok, what the heck is "fish extenders"?

A fish extender is a cloth sort of mailbox that hangs outside your cabin door on your fish. You can make it as many pockets as people in your cabin and decorate it however you want.
When on the ship, we will have teams and everyone thats participating will be on the list and teams will have a present for each cabin or person in the cabin and run around filling everyones FE on their team day. There will need to be one person that knows what each team is doing so we dont get duplicates. Last year my team did small dry erase boards that hung on our cabin door and had our Panamal Canal logo.Europe is going to be tougher because of shipping,Im not sure we can have boxes shipped in Dover like we can here in Florida.
I think its alot of fun. I still have Scottishwees Scotland keychain she passed out on my keyring. We also brought extra stuff from the dollar stores so we made sure each day the kids always had something in there.
Anyone have any pics of their FE?
Sorry, just got off work and brain is fading but I bet someone does that they will send to give you an idea!
Hope this helps.......

Yes! We actually did the opposite - we stayed at DLP (on DVC points) and rode the train into Paris and back each day to do our sightseeing. :thumbsup2

Heather - can my family be on our own instead of on a team? We already have something in mind for our gift! :flower3:

For the FE's, when you're talking about teams, what do you have in mind? We've always just done everyone bring something for everyone.

Just dropping in to say "hello". Haven't been on the boards since we booked the cruise because things have been very busy for me at work, my husband had knee surgery on January 6 and my father passed away on December 27 so many things have changed since we booked. However, the one great thing which hasn't changed is we are still planning to cruise with all of you and are looking forward to our magical time together.

We are from Canada and did spend three or four days in London in July 2007 after our last Med cruise but we aren't really familar with the area. Does anyone know if we fly into London or elsewhere? If so, how do we then get to Dover, England? We booked our flights with DCL so do not have any information on this yet.

The pre-cruise excursions people are talking about sound interesting. Are you thinking of doing those on your own or do you think DCL will plan some excursions the day before the cruise?

Take care.

Sandra,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your dad...may his memory be eternal. My dad passed away 12 years ago but I still talk to him when I can. (and when no one is listening)
I have made no plans yet for pre or post cruise...can't book anything this early anywhere so really hard to decide what to do. I was thinking of Disneyland Paris but just not sure yet. We are booking our flights on our own.
Disney might have something local in London to do pre/post cruise..time will tell. Wonder how long it will be before they announce things?
Good to see you on the thread.....
take care and hang in there....

Hi Denise:

Thank you for the words of encouragement.

It would sure be nice if Disney announced some shore excursions soon so that cruisers can start to think about what they might like to do.

We went to Disneyland Paris in July 2007 and although we enjoyed it and are happy to have gone, we much prefer Walt Disney World in Florida. DL Paris was much, much smaller, the character greetings were poorly organized and more like a swarm of uncontrolled children, and the customer service was not at the level of Florida's WDW employees. Just my opinion though.

Take care.

Sure, are you going to do for everyone on the list or just certain people?
Your family then could have one of the days,we basically will need teams for 15 days.

For the FE's, when you're talking about teams, what do you have in mind? We've always just done everyone bring something for everyone.

Well for the PC cruise we had teams of people for each day and they bought one main gift and those people passed out that gift on that day to participating people. Like I was on a team of 8 people. We all chipped in and ordered dry ease boards with a marker and our logo on it and we passed them out on our day. We had 300 of them and we used some leftovers for crew which was nice . Its just a thought ,if people want to go just independently, thats fine too .It was just cost effective to have teams to get for everyone

we'd like to join in for both fe & lanyards - it's five of us - two adults - three kids (though my daughter will be 20 and my older son 18, but we will also have a 5 year old) - i know that it's a long way to go - but let us know how many & we'll find something fun - hopefully for all ages - thanks
