Ok I just gave myself a heart attack by looking at the shore excursions for berling and St. Petersburg that are offered by celebrity. We thought the ones for the med cruise were expensive. These are beyond expensive I'm going to have to start saving more money than i already am.

Lissa

no wonder that you gave yourself heart attack... lol

Ii thought med cruise were expensive but I think Baltic is more expensive then Med..

Med cruise was awesome and I want go back again but family want see Baltic....

Thanks! As I'm sure you have all heard...Circuit City is closing after 60 years of business. We even made the national news. :( We are going to be paid for 60 days which buys time to find a new job. Anyone hiring? At least I have time before I have to pay off the cruise, right?:upsidedow

I saw it on the news and immediately thought of you. I'm so sorry! There's a CC just ten minutes from our home that we went to all the time - DD has a good friend who works there. I'm sending luck and pixie dust pixiedust: that you find another job soon!

Hi

I looked at it and looked at Russia...

Oh my god, what a price...for excursion...

Do anyone know when dcl excursion ready??

Scottishwee35

SERIOUSLY?????? $750 each? I really want a car in St. Petersburg. where ther's a will, there's a way. I guess DLRP is out.

Russia is someplace i am really looking forward to seeing. I would much rather see more with a small group then bussed around with a large group. from my understanding you can see more privately.

I do wish Disney would release shore excursions so we can budget and plan, etc. i didn't do the med, but those who did...do you remember how far out the excursions were released?

i can speculate and say should be by the end of the year. there are those who can book 105 days out and they will need time to look. the first repo is in april. ultimately i would love for the excursions to be released before August. i wiah i wish i wish!!!!!!

Some of the prices are way over my head, lol. But, I do see there are some more reasonable ones in there too. I wish Moscow didn't require a plane flight, as I am petrified of getting into small aircraft.

I am anxious to see what DCL puts out there for us, too. With two days at St Petersburg, hope there are some good value choices as well.

I did the med. but I can't remember how far out they released the excursions. I wanna say 6 months out from the 1st sailing.

Anyways.. there are much cheaper tour guides out there. I found this site on another site, I think Cruise Critic. Private tour that is more reasonably priced. Although, I can't see the prices on there today but they weren't $750 per person.

Happy weekend everyone! You all have been chatty over the last few days while I've been chaperoning 7th/8th graders at WDW :) We participated in the Disney Youth in Education Series (YES) program and it was a great few days. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

It seems that DCL released excursion info for the Med relatively early. I know we had quite a bit of time to read the excursions and narrow it down before deciding. We opted to do all DCL excursions in the Med and will likely do the same for the Baltic, mostly for peace of mind traveling for the kids. We know it is more expensive to do it that way, but we are still novices when it comes to out of the country traveling. The only way we will do something not through DCL is if DCL doesn't offer an excursion that covers what we want to do.

For those of you with job-woes right now - we hope you are able to find something else very quickly. Know that we are sending pixie dust your way.

Okay... being the crazy person that I am. I went and looked at our old Med thread and excursions must have come out around Dec 15, 2006. So, that would be 5 months prior to the 1st sailing. We had a ton of time to look at them as we didn't depart until 07/07/07.

Hope that helps..

Yeah, it does. we are using air miles and can't book til 11 months. i need to see excursion prices before 11 months because we are planning on adding DLRP to our trip. as of now, i think we are going to drop Paris and just do London pre or post trip. use the DLRP and Paris money for russian excursions.

From reading over on cruisecritic it appears that you can arrange for groups of 8-10 in a van for a lot less than the prices listed on Celebrity. When we get closer I will try to arrange a group willing to take this less expensive option.

That's great. I think my family would be up for that.

Hello Everybody

Where are you?? Seem quiet here...

I had a bad day yesterday... a girl punched my daughter's face last Thursday night... and broke her one tooth... I am praying it is baby teeth...

I went to church and find out that both had been fighting, Olivia kicked her and both had been banned for a week... Oh I was very upset and feel numb..

Last night, Ian and I had a good talking to Olivia and she was crying then we put her in bed and she got good sleeping... Me no... got up 3 am and struggle to get sleep...

I told Olivia that she is not return to church club...

Today, Olivia is good mood and tidy up her bedroom...

yikes! Hope your daughter is ok now..has she gone to the dentist yet? Hoping it is not a permanent tooth for her.

I am thinking we will try to pickup some Euros and Pounds soon while the exchange rate is favorable for us here. Who know, it could rise again I am sure. Sorry it is not good for you though, costing you more money now for the cruise. :(

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Deborah - I am so sorry to hear that Olivia had some trouble and I hope she is ok.

We watched the Copenhagen episode on the Rick Steve's Europe DVD this afternoon (we had borrowed it from the library and watched the other episodes but for some reason, the Copenhagen one didn't play, so we got it from Netflix). Out of all the ports, Copenhagen interests me the most right now, but there is so much to see and do at the others that I'm really looking forward to learning what DCL will offer for excursions. It does look like several of the ports (Copenhagen and Stockholm in particular) will be easy enough to do on our own if we were to decide to forego the DCL route.

So I was also thinking that should I be industrious (or have industrious DISBoard-mates), it would be great to put together a familiarization packet aimed toward the children for the various ports. For example in Copenhagen, it would be important for them to know something about Hans Christiaan Andersen - including having read some of his stories, including the Little Mermaid as he wrote it, not the Disney version. And learning about which countries have Kings / Queens and what their names are, etc. The DVD was showing the changing of the guard for the King of Denmark, and I was thinking how we are planning to see the changing of the guard in London.

Hope you all are having a good weekend. We're glad it has warmed up here a bit.

I know, I really like Copenhagen. I even entertained the idea of doing a different cruise line so, that I could stay overnight in Cophenhagen. But the ship I was looking at is very old and doesn't have the kid amenties that I think, we need at this point. Oh... well... I guess, we'll just have to go back when the kids are older.

It's nice to see more posting for our group!

Jeff- do you need us to resend our info that was posted on the other site?
And many thanks for starting it!

Joanne

I'll get your picture posted today. Sorry for the delay. Life is so busy.
