Sharper fin, how easy is the train? I'm thinking about it as an option, but wondering if trying to get 2 kids and all our bags on would be more of a hassle than it's worth.

The kids won't be a problem, the train will be fine. It's the bags that would concern me. We always take the train if we're going to London (about 3 hours from home), but only usually take enough baggage for a 3 night stay or so. Two weeks worth... hmmm it's going to be an interesting (and indiviual) choice.

After saying that, people do it. It's certainly a viable option. If pressed, I'd say that if you can actually carry your bags between your party, you'll be OK on a train. If you need a porter trolly, it may be too much

I got the new logo too!:thumbsup2 :cool1: Can you all point me to the email address for the rollcall? Thanks all!

What made evryone choose Hellsinki over Tallinn? Just wondering

Shhh! Don't tell anyone who got the other dates but...

Tallinn now has a reputation for cheap alcohol and (how can I put this politely) "fraternisation"! As such, a lot of British and other European Stag nights go there (Is that a term used in America, stag night? A last wild party fling for the groom just before his wedding?) Some of them are known to get very out of hand. The locals of course put up with any unpleasantness because it brings lots of welcome business to their town. It's apparently a beautiful city by day...

And that's why we chose Helsinki!

I've been gathering information from various sources and am not sure how reliable (or out-of-date) some of the information is, so we'll be relying on you, Shaun, to help us sort things out. :goodvibes

For example:

I read on vacationstogo.com that "The Port of Dover is located approximately 110 miles from London's Heathrow Airport (approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours), approximately 85 miles from London's Gatwick Airport (approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours), approximately 95 miles from London's Stansted Airport (approximately 2 hours) and approximately 80 miles from Central London (approximately 1 1/2 hours). Taxis are available: from Heathrow: £130.00 / From Gatwick £115.00 / From Stansted £130.00. (Rates subject to change)."

I also read somewhere that the trains would cost somewhere around £30.00 per person. Wouldn't it cost about the same for a family of 4 to travel to the port by taxi as by train? Of course, I'm sure luggage could be an issue, but it seems that a taxi might be an easier option? What would you recommend, Shaun?

Baltics refer to the three Baltic states...Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

I think it should be "Baltic" as it is the collective region and thereby already pluralized.

Sharper Fin-I had no idea about the wild partying there. We made the right choice!

LOGO!!!!

Our DIS friend and very talented BROOKLYN designed this for this group.

What do you think??
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the logo a lot. It should read invades the Baltic Sea or just the Baltic. Also, I noticed Baltic was spelled wrong. I really, really like the flags. It is representative of all the ports we will be visiting. I like the scroll on the left with the dates. Now, back to the phrase Pounds to Rubles Mickey Invades the Baltic Sea. Maybe scroll that along the bottom or on top of the flags. My DH thinks it looks a little crowded with 2 Mickeys...one on the dates scroll and then another Mickey on the right. Maybe instead of the Mickey on the right we can add a picture of Russian dolls or a Viking ship. Please don't flame me. This logo is a million times better than anything I could create. I just think the more input we can gather, it can become even more spectauclar than it already is.:)

Oh my! Well I had enough of that in Nassau at the straw market! As we strolled through, my husband was pursued by a man offering everything from cigars to women! Ugh! Bachelor Party is the commonly used phrase here in the U.S. but ummmm, Estonia's version sounds a bit wild.

I love the logo!! I do agree that "Baltic" probably should be used, however. Thanks so much to the person who designed it...

Brooklyn, awesome job!:thumbsup2 Thanks for taking the time!

I agree with everything you noted. :) Brooklyn, you always do AMAZING designs!!! I already have "Westbound Transatlantic" graphic envy! ;)

There's something about the right hand placement of "Pounds to Rubles Mickey Invades the Baltic Sea" that makes the logo look very crowded, plus that it's a bit sideways.

What if "Pounds to Rubles: Mickey Invades the Baltic Sea" is placed across the top. Then the flags underneath across the middle. Then "Disney Magic European Capitals Cruise July 6-18, 2010" across the bottom. We could still have two Mickeys, one on each side.

What does everyone else think?

That sounds great!

OK - everyone who has e-mailed or PM'ed me is up on the website - please let me know if I missed someone or if there is a mistake!

Also, if there is any info that you would like listed please send it to me and I can add it. I posted a couple of things, but I don't have the patience to go back through all of the posts! :cool1:

When the logo is all done, I will add that so we can link it in our sig's.

That sounds like what I was thinking. Maybe put the dates scroll in the middle on the bottom. And on each side of the scroll maybe 1-2 icons depicting the obvious highlight feature of the ports. Or put the Pounds to Rubles up top, dates scroll and icons in the middle and bottom it up with the flags of the countries we will be visiting. Brooklyn, you are amazing for doing this logo. I was envious of your TA logo while perusing the other meet threads for 2010. SOOOOOOOOO glad you are joining us and doing ours!!!! Between the website, the logo, and of course the DISers...we are going to rule 2010!!!!! :cool1:

Hi everyone. I am happy to help with the logo but I really can't go by everyone's special requests. If someone has photoshop and wants to play with this I can send them the file. It just gets really hard when everyone has their opinion about what is right. I want you guys to have it just perfect for you cruise! I am just not sure I have the time to fine tune it though. I get so many requests a day and I try to help everyone. Let me know specifics and I will try to help or if someone else wants to do it then that is fine with me too. :thumbsup2
