Denise - {{{hugs}}} and sympathy and prayers heading your way. I know these last several weeks have been tough and I'm glad you had the time you did with her.

Rich - welcome aboard! Like others, we'll have enough to include you in our FE deliveries - just need your cabin number as soon as you have it assigned.

Hi everyone! I just came across this site and wanted to introduce myself and family. I'm Tara and my husband Bob and daughter Kayla (4 yrs) are all signed up for this cruise! We are very excited and counting down the days until we leave! We are stationed in Stuttgart Germany so we don't have international travel to worry about, thankfully! We've been here five years so far. DH was Army but medically discharged last year and we are both now civillians working for the government.

This will be our first Disney cruise so we're not sure what to expect. Obvisiously all good things since I don't think Disney does anything bad...but we're very excited to see how Disney does cruises!

So far we're flying into Heathrow the 5th and have a private car taking us into Dover. We're staying that night in the Ramada which is 5 minutes from the port. We have all of our excusions booked but because we booked late we didn't get a few that we really wanted. I'm sure all we be great though!

I'm stressing about packing!! Mainly my concern is over where I'm going to put all our shoes! My daughter is a shoe queen just like myself, so I'm not sure how we will figure it out!

If you guys could give me any tips or advice or anything you think I should know I'd appreciate it! Can't wait to meet and join everyone on this cruise!! :yay:

Tara

Welcome aboard and glad to have you. We are staying in the Ramada that night as well. If you go to the first page of the thread there is some info and shows our website. If you have any questions, just ask away. I'm sure you'll like you first Disney cruise. We like it so much we still do DCL even when we don't have the kids, like this time. It's a friendly bunch here. As far as the excursions go, go the excursion desk that first day you may be able to book it there.

Tara, welcome aboard! I only have boys who each have only two pair of shoes so no packing tips from me. But the ship has self service laundry in addition to valet laundry so you could pack less clothes to make room for shoes!

We are having a meet and greet on the first sea day from 2-3 on the aft deck on deck 7 if you want to come by and meet everyone.

I thought I would call dcl for the onboard movie listing today if no one else has already. We are going to see toy story 3 tomorrow but not in 3D because we figure they will show it in 3D onboard. I am hoping the sorcerors apprentice will premear onboard as well. I wonder if they will do it in the Walt Disney theater. They showed Bolt there when it came out and then added it to the buena vista rotation for subsequent viewings. I wonder if dcl could give us the show schedule... Zachary loves going for the live performances and we are looking fwd to the villians as it is new to us.

Thanks for the welcome Judy! Good to know other people will be in the same hotel as us. I'm getting more excited by the minute! It's finally starting to feel real!

Thanks Cindy! Good to know about the laundry services. We will definitely use them.

I'd love to know the movie schedule if they have it available. DD wants to see Toy Story 3 and having it in 3D would be awesome!

Welcome aboard. With regards to packing your shoes, here's what I'd do. Pack a pair for formal and semi formal evenings (the same pair if they match your outfit would be best), and a couple of pairs which are comfortable for everyday use. Personally I swear by Crocs, they're very lightweight and easy to pack and can be worn with whatever you want.

Another shoe packing strategy here... tuck your daughter's shoes inside your shoes. :thumbsup2 When packing, I leave no empty spaces. :rotfl:

Denise, I am so sorry for your loss! It's never easy to loss a loved one.

Tara, welcome! :goodvibes (My DD is a "Tara" also. She's can occassionally be a little terror so if you constantly hear someone calling your name. it's probably one of us yelling at her for something :lmao:.)

Feeling really good about being prepared for this trip! :)

Yesterday, I packed everything except clothing! :cool1:

One carry-on duffel has soft neck pillows, headphones, snacks, gum, mints, a thin travel blanket, magazines, a book, camera, video camera, medicines (Advil, Bonine, Ginger, antibiotics, etc.), tour guide books, passports, and all of our travel documents (flights, hotel, cruise, tours, and transportation).

The other carry-on duffel has all the FE gifts, the FE participant list, our FE, zip ties, door magnets, all the chargers (cell phones, camera, video camera, iPod), an extra pair of glasses, umbrellas, toiletries, Tide and Bounce, and shoes.

DH ordered British Pounds yesterday. We plan to use our credit card most of the time and ATMs whenever we need local currency.

I typed up emergency information to leave with our two adult children and a neighbor. It has our itinerary and all travel information, confirmations, and contact info for our flights, hotel, cruise, and transportation. I also listed phone numbers of people to contact in case of an emergency: travel agent, doctor, insurance agent, lawyer, house alarm company, neighbors, and family members. We'll leave an extra key and a temporary alarm code with the neighbor.

All that's left to do is pack our clothes, notify the credit card company, transfer our Disney Dream Dollars to our Rewards Card, stop the mail and paper, stay updated on the DIS Boards, and count down the days! :)

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yikes! I don't even plan to do all of this stuff until the day before we leave (July 2). We have a quick trip to WDW planned for next Friday, so have to think about that first!! :-)

We've had a last minute emergency occur the day before a trip... twice... that turned preparing and packing into a panicked frenetic fiasco. So, now I get as much ready as possible beforehand. When I do this, it makes the day before the trip really relaxing! :)

I don't know if I shared this with my cruise buddies or not....

My Mom has been sick for quite some time now and was in the hospital then a nursing home. This is in Nevada about 3 hours one way drive on a good day....I have been there almost every other day this week. On Tuesday the 15th she was taken back to the hospital.

We spent the day with her yesterday and she was really slipping away. The entire family was there. There was lots of crying and laughter and remembering things and telling stories. Her minister showed up at the exact time my mom started praying out loud. Perfect timing!

Two of her neighbors came by to say goodbye and left at 820pm. We then each took our turn and kissed her on the head and said good night and that we would see her in the morning. (They said she wouldn't pass for a day or so.) My DH was first and left the room. We were going to go to a hotel and my sister and her family were going home. My DH comes back into the room as my daughter was walking away from kissing her and said. Mom is gone, she has left us. When he went to the nurses station they said they just lost her heart beat. She was gone at 830pm.

We are all so thankful for the time we had and have had with her. We are happy we were with her too.

She is at peace now and without pain. This part is good....not having my Mom.... is not good.

I just wanted to share this with you because we will all be together soon on the cruise and the three of us might drift off and seem in a distant mood. It was just a year ago that we lost my husbands father the same way...
so just give us a hit and make us snap out of it... and help us get back to enjoying our cruise. My mom would have wanted it that way...

thanks for listening....denise
Denise... I'm so sorry to hear about your loss... Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers... Tina

Hello to all,

I'm about to book is cruise because I can't pass the price that I got. Now, I need to know how I can get on the list for the FE.

Richard-34
Teresa-3?
Bryce-6
Kelsie-4

Also, my wife said the Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab now cost. Can someone tell me if this is ture or false?

Thanks
Team McNeese
Hi all... I hate to do this but I have to bow out of the FE exchange. I just don't have the time I thought I would. Too many things to do before the trip and I won't have time to make my gifts. So, if it is alright that Team McNeese take our family's place. Sorry... I wish I would participate. Tina
