HI

We're going to Disney on July 6-13. I'm wondering how the crowds will be, and also the weather ? We went in August '04 and it was VERY STEAMY, we also went in December '04 and found it to be very chilly ! Also, we'll be staying at All Star Movies....what can ya tell me about that resort ? TIA !!

The crowds will be pretty big still, I think the Unofficial Guide has the level at 8 (out of a possible 10).
It will still be hot and humid, and still expect the afternoon thunderstorm. You'll be best to get up early, hit the parks, take an afternoon break and go back to the parks in the evening. And take advantage of FastPass :teeth:

Yep, weluvpluto is right!! :flower:

We have been in July, and it is hot :sunny: , it will probably rain :umbrella: , and it will be crowed  ....but, that's pretty typical of all the summer months. If you have been in August, then I would plan on it being pretty close to how it was then (especially if it was early August, before the schools started back).

We have stayed at All Star Music before, and I think all the All Stars are pretty much the same except that I think the food court at Movies is better than the other All Stars. The rooms are small but manageable, especially with little ones. They have 2 double beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser with a TV, and a vanity area with 1 sink.

Hope this helps!! :flower:

We went to WDW last year from July 5 to July 12, so it was the same week last year that you'll be going this year! Crowds are expectedly high, and it is hot and humid. Expect it now, and don't be surprised about it when you get there. It's not unmanageable, however, if you play it smart.

We got to the parks each day (1/2 day at MK day of arrival, then MK, MGM, EC, AK/MK, MGM, MK, then departure, so 6 days at parks with 1/2 day on arrival) fairly early, though we weren't rushing it. We stayed at AS Sports, so similar situation to you. AS SP does have the first bus stop on the AS line in the morning, and the first when you come back, so that makes it nice. We did have a few groups from South America (you can tell by the bright t-shirts and bicycle shorts, as well as the language) staying there, so as long as we beat them on the bus we were good. We probably got to the parks at around 8:30 or so each day. We have 2 kids, DS8 and DD5, and we planned on staying out all day; they didn't want a mid-day break, nor did we, so we didn't plan one. Worked fine, by the way. For those people who say a mid-day break is a MUST, that would just be a MUST for their particular family. Every family does NOT need, nor want, a mid-day break. So if you want one, fine, but don't feel as if you MUST take one!

We spent a lot of time in the MK, as you could see (3 1/2 days), but that's what the kids love, and truthfully, so do I. We went to AK for only about an hour or so. That park is always so dreadfully hot and humid b/c of all the vegetation, so unless it's not crowded or unless it's a little cooler day, we try not to stay long. The day we went, Kiliminjaro Safaris was closed for some reason, so there were huge waits at the other rides. Given that, and given the heat, we made a family decision to nix that and head over to MK for another day. Good decision!

We typically rent one of the double strollers. I could care less what people think about the ages of kids in the strollers. They don't raise my kids, and I won't try to raise theirs. My DS is quite small for his age, so he fit in fine, and we like them for 2 reasons. One, it really helps you in being able to keep track of your kids. It's a lot easier to push them in front of you than have to hold their hands or keep a real watchful eye on them. Two, it really helps them in not being so tired all day, and for staying cool. If they had to walk all day, which I know they will obviously have to do when they get older, then their little legs would be much more tired, and with the heat it would make it worse. This way, they get to sit in between rides or on long walks between lands, and they are not only able to rest but able to be shaded with their little fans blowing on them. Works out perfect, and well worth the $15 or so per day.

We tried to do a lot of the outdoor attractions early, or at least mix outdoor attractions with indoor attractions or shows to keep cool. You can also strategically get your fastpasses right before meals, that way part of the time you're waiting for a fastpass to become valid you're eating, which is something you have to take time to do anyway, so it's like you're not really wasting time. Eating at the sit down restaurants like Crystal Palace or LTT are great ways to cool down, especially if you do it during the hot part of the day, like between 1 and 4.

MGM also has a lot of shows and attractions indoors, so be sure to do that, as well. Great way to stay cool. And of course one of the highlights of the day is when we return to the hotel to go swimming at night before shower time, that makes everyone feel a lot better.

This year, we'll have another addition with us (Baby Anna due in June, going again in September), so it might be different, but we'll try to stick with the same basic formula.

Most of all, have fun, and don't let the crowds get to you! Just take it easy and relax and you'll have a great time!

THANKS for the replies ! We rented a double stroller backin August and just like you Hokiefan, I didn't care what other people thought about my son being in there. It was hot and he gets irritated when he's hot and i just KNEW he would complain if he had to walk everywhere ! We're used to the crowds, we went the second week of August last year and OH MY were there ALOT of people ! I didn't mind at all tho...I expected it and it all turned out to be a fantastic vacation. When we went in Decmber there were still crowds...almost as many as August so we haven't been to Disney when there haven't been crowds ! We take advantage of FP's and usually we go right in the morning, leave about noonish and head back to the hotel for a swim and a break, then back to the parks at night :)
