Touring plans has a crowd level of 5 on July 4...is there anyway that's even remotely accurate? We were planning on skipping the parks that day & making it a pool day. But our other park days are Friday the 5th & Saturday the 6th...both crowd level 9. Would it be smarter to make July 4 a park day?

Undercover Tourist gives a 9 on July 4, the same as Friday and Saturday.

When I'm looking at the 2019 crowd calendar, it shows an overall of 5 with a 6 for US & 4 for IOA. Every other day that week is an 8 or 9, that's why the 5 was so unexpected.

We were there on the 4th last year and while it might not be an indication of this year, it was much less crowded that we expected. I would say that something around a crowd level of 5 would seem about right for last year.

There's no 4th of July fireworks at Universal right ? So people probably heading other destinations that day that have fireworks.

I would imagine it might be due to the fact that Universal isn't known for a fireworks show.

Now if there is one, or not, that's a different story, but in terms of reputation, Universal is known for it's amazing park and specific holiday events, not a fireworks spectacular. Disney not only is known for their fireworks shows, but specifically has a different one for the 4th of July.

I do not know about other parks in the area (for example, Sea World), but if they might have other plans to for the special day that are known to their guests, as well as are smaller in comparison to Disney and Universal, it would be natural their crowd level would be a 9.

Universal had some fireworks and a dance party for the 4th last year but I haven’t seen anything announced for this year yet.

Sea World do special add on fireworks to their nighttime show ‘Ignite’ on the 4th like Epcot.

Anyway, to answer your question it mostly likely is. Like people have already said, the majority of people would rather be at Disney for their stuff instead of Universal. I generally go by how much express passes are to gage how busy it’s going to be at Universal and plan my days around that. We’ll be at MK/Grand Floridian for the 4th and then we have a room booked at PBH for express passes for the 6th/7th July.

The new HP coaster opens 13th June too so I think Universal are expecting it to be generally busier the rest of the time because of that.
