what magical things does WDW do for July 4th. Which park should we go to and how crowded will this week be? Thanks!!

Ill be there only on the 4th and I am scared
I will be with my DD and DS and their youth choir because they are attending a conference in Orlando and this is their only day off. I know it will be crazy crowded and HOT!! We are used to going in the off season- low crowds and cool temps. We will be at the MK and Im sure this is the most crowded park on July 4th.

We have points to be used by Aug 1st and my husband's job is off that week. I know it will be crowded but it is our only option!

We went to the World around the 4th once, but never again. Knowing what is waiting for you is half the battle, though:

#1. It is HOT - not like "fan your face" hot, but like "surface of the sun" hot. Weat hats, bring water, eat lots of fruit, and take LOTS AND LOTS OF breaks. Sit by the hotel pool in the middle of the day and sip cute drinks with umbrellas while laughing at all the suckers sardine-packed in a three hour line for "It's a Small World".

#2 It is CROWDED - not like "gee, these lines are long" crowded, more like "oh my God, I turned around and lost sight of my husband" crowded. Use the fastpass system. Go to the big rides first. Do NOT plan on getting to everything. Do not be surprised by the lines, just plan for them accordingly.

#3 It is DISNEY - so if you go with a good plan, and the right attitude you're going to have a blast.

We did July 4 last year and it was hot and crowded. We are also used to spring time and i am looking forward to end of April this year. I wouldn't plan July 4 again but i also wouldn't not go if i had the opportunity. We did California Grill for dinner on July 3 in order to watch the most amazing fireworks from Magic Kingdom. They did them 2 nights last year so the 3rd was less busy. On the 4th we went to Disney Studios which was not as crowded as the other parks. They also do July 4 fireworks not nearly as good as MK. This way we got to see both sets of fireworks. You will not see anything better than the MK fireworks. All the fireworks we have seen since just don't compare. I think it has ruined my view now.

We went last year during this week and are going again this year. Frankly I didn't think it was that bad. I would suggest subscribing a service such as to Tourguide Mike and planning your days so you avoid the busiest parks. If you use fastpass and plan out how you are going to go through the parks you should be able to see most of what you want. We went early in the mornings and took breaks to go back to the pool most afternoons. I don't remember it being so crowded that we were afraid we would lose people or ever waiting that long in a line but maybe that's because we used TGM as a guide.

Back prekids we went 4th of July weekend... we had annual passes and stayed at the local youth hostel so we spent very little money so bang for the buck was of little importance.

It will be hot and it will be seriously crowded, I would avoid that weekend if it is your only week there and you want to actually do anything

They do beef up the fireworks and the flag up and down are more ellaborate... i think Epcot does some special stuff at the America Pavilion

The MK park was so crowded that they did a major fireworks display and opened the backstage area for us to walk through... we hated this because it was bad for the magic, rather than walk down mainstreet we walked behind the stores up through to Tomorrow Land... that really upset me. Unfortunatly they have no choice as it would be unsafe for people to have been walking down mainstreet in those numbers
