July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

What do you know about the bus? I can't access the timetable (get a blank page). Do you know where we would get it? I did read that it's "unreliable."

Are you talking about Barcelona? If so, I prefer to go by Metro train (buy three or five days tickets) as the bus always full in local area... maybe you can get timetable from hotel?

This was the exchange about the bus:

Yes! Hesperia towers! Great hotel, a little on the convention type hotel but the rooms were fun. You can take bus 94 or 95 (we took 95) and I actually think it stops right next to it where there is a closed gas station (you'll see it from the side entrance side) but we weren't for sure so we got off at the first bus stop where we could see the towers...it was a short 3-4 minute walk from there through a side park to the towers. The stop for the bus is just 50 feet ahead of where they drop you off the shuttle at the Placa...we went to the main fountain area and headed south for some fun people watching and shopping..also walked around the blocks around there.

You can't turn on the lights in your room without putting your room key in the slot right past the door and leaving it there...they did store all of our luggage for us b/c they said check in was not until 3pm...while I went touring with my parents and one child, they let my husband and other 2 children in at 1pm...I actually think the drinks in the fridge are gratis...we were afraid we'd be charged $6 a drink so we didn't go for them..the room service is horrendously expensive so we took the shuttle into the placa got some prepackaged sandwiches from Starbucks and bottles of water and carried them back to the room. The bus was very clean and we felt very safe there. The showers were amazing!!

Enjoy your trip!! Oh, and taxi ride from port to hotel was about 25 euros...ride from hotel to airport was about 20 euros...hth!

Hi All,

It is back to work today for me and DH after a week break for half term. The glorious weather has disappeared now and we are back to more typical late spring early summer weather for the UK.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday (or as good as they can be!)

Scottishwee35, what's with the lanyards you have mentioned above? Have you had some special ones made?

Thanks, Zencrew!

I must admit I'm a little unhappy with this post (I know it's not originating with you...it's the hotel I'm starting to wonder about). The hotel web site says they run a FREE bus between the hotel and the airport, also between the hotel and "downtown." And that they have a shuttle for 10 Euros to/from the cruise terminal.

I'll e-mail them and see what I can find out. Still, it's good to know that the 94 and 95 go there!

The above information is from this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=36685839#post36685839 was from a poster Imhall2000 and I think they had a really early flight so that maybe why they took a taxi.

Afternoon all. Hope you are all having a good week. I have a couple of extra days work this week then a very busy weekend planned!

On Friday I am off out with girl friends to watch the Sex in the City Movie at the cinema, then on Saturday (weather permitting) Darren, the girls and I are going to London for the day to see the Elephant Parade exhibition. It is a shame it will be gone before those of you with London pre cruise stays arrive as I have heard lots of good reports about it. There are 250+ life size decorated elephant statues around London by a whole heap of artists and designers. The event is free but they are auctionning them off at the end to raise money to help save the Asian Elephant.

Then of course it will be back home, put the kids to bed and my Mum will babysit while DH and I go to the local pub to watch England take on the USA at football in our opening World Cup match. We are pretty excited but then we are big football (soccer) fans and that is how we met!

Sunday we have a party with friends so hopefully the weather will be kind as they have an outdoor pool which we will use if the weather is good :)

So what has everyone else got planned for the week ahead?

Are any of our American friends on this thread following the world cup or is it way behind baseball, basketball and american football in your list of favourite sports?!

That means cabin assignments soon:cool1:

I see that Cat7 and lower are no longer GTY, I guess that means the ship has sold lots of Cat 12 GTY. I hope all of you that have booked CAT 11 and lower(or is CAT 10,9 etc considered higher) at the regular rates get some great upgrades:wizard: and those of us in CAT 12 get the best of the left overs.

People tend to be disappointed if they get one of the 13 actual cat 12's but the location of those rooms are great and on a port intensive crusie it will be even nicer to just run up to your cabin after returing from a long day in port.

Lisa

Also noticed that the Aug 7, 11 night med cruise has some great CAT 12 rates for those of you who can extend your vacation.

Wish I could.
