July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

We are packing light, so yesterday I was just putting some tee shirts in one of the suitcases to see how much I can fit, youngest thought the large suitcase would be good for hers and me and my oldest dd could share the smaller one:rolleyes1

We will be doing laundry so should be able to do it. Will take an extra bag for the return trip home.

For those of you from the UK, what can we expect for temperatures in Dover. Will we be able to survive with shorts and maybe a pair of capris, would prefer not to pack pants? My youngest reminded me that we did not go swimming at all in March on the Wonder as it was so cold . I imagine Barcelona will be hot, does it get humid there?

For those staying at the Novotel, I did not realize it is accross the street from a large shopping centre.:rotfl2:

Recital number 2 coming up and my ballet daughters bun was not up to standards last night. The ballet teacher was not impressed, so we must do better today.

Have you read trip report of 15 May by Strawberryblonde? have a look at it as they showed two pictures of their kids on top of swimming pool of new hotel...and look so beautiful view. (for anyone who is staying Novotel - please look at it)...

Weather - Andrew UK told me that last two weeks in August will be HOT... I don't know if it will be our cruise will have beautiful weather...

In Med 07 Barcelona was lovely weather as we were in middle of July...

Oh cross over new hotel that there will be shopping that is great...:yay:

I will pack the short for kids and I am sure that it will be lovely weather but I am not sure about Dover maybe okay... maybe wear the legging...

I bought few things for Olivia top and legging to match for the cruise.. as she got some lovely clothes...

Ian was not happy this week as he was told no when he want stay in Barcelona for few days with us as his workmate booked holiday clash dates.. remember that... well he is leaving on Tuesday and Ian was furious with him:headache: He changed the flight back to Sunday then his dad join with him so he cannot change flight again... oh dear not good week for him...

Hi Gang!

We have our BCN hotel. I did my homework and thought I knew what I was doing and what I wanted. We are at the Hesperia Tower near the airport for a Priceline bid of $77 per night (total with taxes and fees was $175 for 2 nights). The hotel has free wifi (big deal to a teen who will not have internet on the ship!), free shuttle from hotel to airport and downtown, 10 Euro shuttle to cruise terminal. It's a 5* hotel.

Regular price if I had booked the hotel's "on line special" would have been 238 Euros.

We have a flight home on August 9 as staying till then lowered our airfare by $500 per person. I knew I could do a hotel and food for way less than that and have a little fun time before the flight home.

We still don't have our London hotel, but I have some options there; may throw some choices at DD tonight!

Barcelona is hot but not humid. Parc Guell is a must see but is very hot, dusty and dry, especially the view over the city. Take plenty of water!

With regard to the temperatures in Dover in July it can really vary. Last week we had 13 degrees C today 24. I would recommend checking a 10 day forecast prior to packing to give you a general idea. ukweather.com is one such site.

Hello

Oh Parc Guell is a beautiful place and think I like go back ... and I want see waterfall Monjici (wrong spell) but oh I enjoyed it and want go back too...

and weather here is so beautiful ...

Hi everyone! My family and I are on this cruise as well. We did do one of the Med cruises a few years ago and had a great time. Hoping for more of the same, and are very excited about the ports on this repositioning itinerary!

It will be DH and I and our two boys age 11 and 7 in cat 9.

We are interested in DIS meets and possibly lanyards.

Oh, and we haven't started packing yet - there's still a lot happening between now and then including a family wedding the weekend before we head for London. It will be an adventure!

:cheer2: Welcome :cheer2:

I will have to go read that trip report,.

http://www.tmb.net/en_US/barcelona/moute/planols/lineabusplano.jsp?linia=024

Looks like you can take the bus 24 to Parc Guell from near the Novotel, above is the link the the route map.

Would like to see the Magic Waterfall show but not sure if I will be brave enough to head out at night, and I am sure the girls will be exhausted after 8 days of late nights.

I wish I could be flexible with the vacation time, if we came home on the Monday it would have been less expensive too, but I need to be into work Monday morning.

Good Priceline find.

I was searching for "do on your own" walking tours for the Lisbon stop.

I found this informative post on a travel forum that I thought I would share. The comments are interesting as well (neat little shops to visit). Any other input from people that have been to Lisbon would be great. I heard Rick Steves has a walking tour in one of his books as well.

I was reading the June 5 meet thread and sounds like there were lots of upgrades to CAT 4 available, ship must not be that full.

I know all the Categories are showing GTY for this cruise, but I wonder if it is really that full. DCL does do a good job of filling up ships in the last weeks before a cruise, so it could be full in 2 months time.

We (me, DH and 2 DD)are staying at the same place (via Priceline - 2 rooms) and also leaving on the 9th for the US. I was advised by another diser about taking the bus from dowtown to the hotel and also free shuttle from hotel to downtown.

Hi everyone, anyone started with a packing list already?
We still have to go look for new suitcases, go looking for the FE gifts, and i'll start making our doorsigns! :upsidedow

We bought new luggage as well. Check Overstock.com. I couldnt find better prices and free shipping.

We started on our list. Because we are staying in London a few days before the trip, the biggest pain will be figuring out how many Pounds and Euro's we should bring with us and then going to the bank or airport to get it. We will try to use our CC as much as possible, but still like to have some cash.

What do you know about the bus? I can't access the timetable (get a blank page). Do you know where we would get it? I did read that it's "unreliable."
