July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Hi Everybody

Oh stressful this week....:scratchin

Ian and I bought new kitchen units, oven, hobs and flat screen tv...

We have a huge kitchen and this week we cleaned out the cupboards and lift the floorboards (lots of work)...:(:crazy2:

I felt it was wrong times as I am going away tomorrow to Aberdeen for my brother's wedding with my daughter as she will be flowergirl..

My neighbour is doing the labour, moving the heating and put diffrent place, and doing the wall tiles, fixing the new kitchen etc for us as he prefer this weekend *** quiet as we all away to the wedding...:scared1::scared1:

I am sure it will turn out lovely when we come back after weekend (well I hope so)

Good luck, it is always stressful having work done on your house, Kitchens in particular as you rely on them so much.

Enjoy the wedding, I am sure your daughter will enjoy being a flower girl :)

Renovations are always stressful, keep my fingers crossed that things goes as planned, and a new kitchen will be wonderful. What are hobs? :confused3

We close on our new house on Friday so I am sure that move will be stressfull too.

A "Hob" in the UK is the name for the rings on top of the cooker where you put saucepans to boil - either gas or electric.

I just wanted to share some deals I got for this cruise with anyone who is interested. I booked 2 nights pre-cruise July 28-30 for our family of 4 at crowne plaza kensington for $425 USD total (includes tax). Booked it through hotwire and it's the only 4 star listed in Kensington on their site. We are going to Paris for 2 nights after we debark at Barcelona and I booked Crowne plaza republique for roughly the same amount. I have been scouring the web for deals and didn't want to book 2 rooms since my kids are young and it seems wasteful. It's amazing to me how quickly expenses add up for this trip but it's worth it!

I just got a good deal on a hotel too, I booked through hoteltravel.com. I got the Park Plaza Victoria for 106 pounds including breakfast.

I had never heard of hoteltravel.com. I did some research on them and there were no complaints of guests getting to the hotel and not having a reservation, so I took a chance, I will email the hotel closer to the arrival to verify they have the reservation.

Has anyone done any research on doing private tours in any of the stops? You read a lot about people doing private tours in Rome and St Petersburg, but I don't think anyone has mentioned it here.

Lisa

You should go if it is not too far.

Are you surprising your kids with this trip, or is that someone else? If you are surprising them it might take away the actual surprise.

Lisa

Its me, I'm surprising my kids...they think we are taking a car ferry over to France and then by road to Barcelona....fortunately, neither has a clue quite how long of a journey that would be !!! ;)

Sadly this means we may have to keep a low profile from you guys staying overnight pre-cruise in Dover (especially anyone staying at the Premier Inn Eastern Terminal).......please no Mickey ears in Dover !! LOL.. or they might guess !:rotfl:

They have a further surprise in Barcelona when my DH (who can't come on the cruise), will be meeting us at lunch time, so we can spend a long weekend exploring the city together.

So this weekend sees the 90 day reservations open up and guess who is away CAMPING, in a remote woodland obviously with no internet! ARGGHHHH and it is forecast to rain for at least 2 of the 3 days we are there.

I am really not a camping fan but our friends are and we sort of got talking into tagging along for the trip and I am seriously not feeling good about it. Olivia is our youngest and she is 2 and 4 months - I am certain she is not going to go to sleep well in a tent!

Izzy, our older daughter is nearly 5 and I think she will enjoy it but I am worried it will be cold and wet the whole time - now add to that i realised i am missing my reservation window for Palo and Spa and I am not a happy bunny!

Oh well, I am sure we will make the most of it!

Thank you! I was having a hard time finding a hotel in walking distance to major attractions at a reasonable price. I reserved the Novotel Waterloo a couple of months ago, but then saw your post and that hotel looks fantastic! 4 star hotel in walking distance for less than the Novotel. I booked it as well. The Novotel allows you to cancel all the way up to 6pm the day of arrival so I may hold on to it just in case. Have it for the 28th to the 30th, wife and 14 year old son.

I had been in private tours in Med 07 at Nice etc which was wonderful but pricey...

Argghhh it won't let me follow the link, it redirects me to Disney UK.

Hope everyone is having a happy Thursday, we have a bank holiday 3 day weekend coming up in the UK and of course the weather has been great this week and is now forecasting rain for my camping weekend :( Ho hum!

Does anyone have any guesses about when the different dining nights will be. I think formal night will be on Sunday and possibly Pirates night on the Cadiz stop but other than that I am not sure...

Also how will dining rotations work, will it be PLAPLAPL for example or some kind of weird pattern - on our 7 night carribean last year we did PLAAPLA so a repeat of Animators two days in a row.

I was going to request t go with our assistant server from last cruise (our server was on his last contract) but then I was wondering if I preferred a specific dining rotation instead...

That will be a great surprise for the kids you get to have lots of fun with them on the cruise and then the surprise when they see their dad in Barcellona.

Kids love camping, they will be so tired that they will go to sleep.

Lisa

So we can book things tomorrow. My camping plans have been slightly changed and we are going tomorrow morning. Am i right in thinking that we can book at midnight Orlando time... That means I can book at 5am UK time. I am right in thinking that it is midnight tonight we can book not midnight when Saturday turns to Sunday...

UGH!!! We tried and tired the past couple of weeks and could not get our Free miles to fight with the cruise to work out so I canceled today in case we can't go.
And hope to maybe rebook if possible if something works out.
I will let you all know more when I do.:)

Wish us luck!!
