July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Welcome CaliforniaCastaway:welcome:

Did you book the guided trip to Santiage de Compostela or just the transportation and tour Santiago on your own? We also enjoy the shorter excursions with time to visit the ports ourselves.

ScubaMickey

We booked the guided 1/2 day tour. With two young kids, we feel more comfortable staying with a guided tour. It makes it easier for me too since less research and planning is needed when we get to the port.

Counting down to May 1....Sad that we live in Florida and I am only 120 miles from the Port and worse yet my Mom only lives 20 minutes from the Port and this is just our third cruise. We have only cruised once from PC...:confused3

Maybe the family will get as excited as I do about Disney cruising when the Dream arrives.

ScubaMickey

I can relate, my husband just rolls his eyes any time I talk about a cruise, luckily my kids love it as much as I do so we out number him. It is funny when he mentions other ideas for vactions, we look at him like he is nuts.

Sounds like an excellent plan. With just the two of us in our travel party, we are going to use the transportation to Santiago and roam around the city on foot. Probably will not cover as much ground as a tour would, but we will be able to explore at a slower pace. Eating, shopping, and wine tasting are always high on our list. We are definitely going on the guided tour of Normandy.

Are you near the California Wine Country?

Can I borrow the girls to vote in my family? I have to compromise when it comes to vacations. We just finished our vacation home in Colorado, so many of our trips are there, not that that is a bad thing. I do enjoy the West, but Disney Cruises are special too. Luckily, I have Mom as a travel partner for Europe trips.

Glad you had a good weekend! And are rebooked and excited for June!

We have 3 members of staff stranded in Europe following the flying ban. One has two very young children and was due home last Friday! One is stuck in Cyprus and has been told the earliest she can fly is Friday! Thats probably shifted back I suppose dependant upon when the flight actualy start up!

Glad you managed to make the most of your rearranged weekend and that you still have June to look forward to.

Feeling very sorry for those stranded away from home and also those who may not make their booked travel plans. Especially those on the first Med cruise, they must be walking on egg shells waiting to see if they can make it to Barcalona on time.

Sure but they may want to come with you on any trips that get voted in. You may want to meet them first as they have their moments when I want to ship them away. :rolleyes1

Speaking of meeting, are we going to have a DIS meet, I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet.

Lisa

I too feel terrible for all those people waiting in airports trying to get home or start a trip. I hope things get moving.

We were supposed to fly on 9/11 and I was so glad that we had chosen a later flight or we would have been stuck in St Paul Minnesota.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. I was wondering the same thing about meeting. I am game....

We are from Southern California, near Pasadena. We are big Disneyland fans. We go about 1-2 times per month. The kids are Disneyland experts!

3 Weeks till we move and I am tired of packing so I thought I would make a list of who has posted they are going since Feb 1, looks like there is lots of us

Hopefully I have not missed anyone

You can add me and DBF to the list !!!

A jaffa cake is somewhere between a biscuit (cookie) and a cake. It has a base which is like a dense cake which has then got an orange fondant over the top which is then covered in dark chocolate.

i personally don't like them as I have a weird aversion to chocolate and orange mixed together but they are very popular over here!

We have two full days in London pre cruise and I am wondering if we should plan two shows or if that will be too much. If a show each day is unrealistic with all of the other sightseeing we will be doing - which one should we (family of four with DD14 and DD11) Wicked or The Lion King? My girls love shows and musicals - they even have Thriller, Grease, and We Will Rock You on their shortlist.

Thanks for the picture.

Not what I envisioned. We always try and get into a supermarket in new countries so I am sure we will find lots of new things. I think the girls are hoping for the candy aisle.

I think I am addicted to them. I cant stop eating them Lol.

For anyone who is already able to book Palo, can you tell me if the brunch is only offered on the two sea days? or if it is available on any of the port days?

Thanks

I have seen the Lion King twice and for my money it is one of the most beautifully designed and produced musicals ever. The costumes are spectacular and the way they do the Wildebeast stampede is fabulous.

We will rock you is good if you are going because you like the Queen music, the story is not spectacular though. My in laws took us one year to see that at Christmas and as I was familiar with all the music I did enjoy it but it wouldn't be high on my "must see" list.

regarding whether or not to do two shows, where are you flying in from, are your two days in London completely clear or are you doing any travelling on them? How old are the kids and will they be tired from the journey? If going to see shows is one of the main focuses of your trip then go for it but remember you may be jet lagged and tired early on in the trip so worth considering how mad \ upset you would feel if you were all too tired to fully enjoy one or both shows?!

Perhaps if you are going for evening performances factor in a bit of afternoon downtime like you would when touring WDW and trying to cram in evening entertainment as well.

If you are not sure why not book one show (whichever you decide is top of the list) and then on the day with no booked tickets if you feel up to going to a show then head to Leicester Square to the official London Theatre Ticket booth (there are loads of places selling show tickets but there is only ONE official booth and it is in a pavillion building in the middle of Leicester Square.) and see what is available that night. Several times I have gone on a day trip to London with friends and got show tickets there, we have always had a choices of shows and a variety of prices of ticket available so unless you are an uber planner that idea might work for you for at least one of your nights.

I wanted to know about this too...

Shame, I was hoping there might have been another one squeezed in. I do hope I can either make reservations for this or get one when we board, I thought it was quite nice but my DH loved it and it is on his list of "must do's"
