July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Well we made it back from our visit family vacation , and the cruising gods are making me pay for not taking a cruise vacation. We had a good time away but I came back to a dead battery in my car at the airport, and our dog got sprayed with a skunk, so I now need another vacation. My 3 cruise vacations have gone off with no hitches, but my last 3 land vacations I always seem to come back stressed out.

The girls are back to school in 1 week, where did the summer go.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer.

Oh lovely for Saturday and I hope it stay at Eastern because I heard Andrew didnt went to Eastern change over Western due to bad weather...

What an end to your vacation! That really does spoil what might have been a good vacation otherwise!

English schools are back next week too. Whilst I am glad for DD who starts high school and is soooo excited I am a teacher and I'll have to 'break in' a new class of 5 and 6 year olds! To tell you the truth I am so excited myself! I met them when we did a transition day and they are wonderful!

Thanks so much for the good wishes -- as long as I get on the ship I won't worry too much about where we go (although our last cruise was a Western so we would love to do Eastern as planned) . . . right now things look fine.

What is everyone doing for the flight departing from Barcelona?

I have been looking at flights. Air Canada now has added a direct flight for next summer that leaves at 11:45 AM . I know DCL recommends not booking a flight prior to 12:30 would I be pushing my luck if I booked this flight. It would make the return flight 8 hours as compared to 14+ hours if I take the later flight that connects through Frankfurt.

I could stay a day in Barcelona but I know the kids will be too tired to do much so I figure sitting on a plane will not so bad.

I seem to remember that the taxi from the port to the airport was about 1/2 hour journey. DCL website shows guests ashort from 6.45, depending upon how much time your airline wants you at the airport prior to your flight then this could be doable. Get off ship at 8, collect lugagge and to airport for 9 ish almost 3 hours prior to your flight! If its 2 hours prior then you are laughing!
We deliberately took our time getting off the ship (9.15-9.30) and were still at the airport well before 10.30, including collecting luggage, small queue for the taxi and journey! I think they are quoting this time for Port Canaveral to Orlando due to the distance between????
One thing to note, Barcelona Airport was very slow at check in. They may be better with a transatlantic flight. Ours was a small carrier within the EU.
With 2 youngsters an 8 hour flight is definately better than 14 with a transfer any day!

The flight for Barcelona is ready price now...

one way seem expensive but we have to book it as need to get home

Flyglobespan only available Sunday or Wednesday so we think we choose Wednesday as like spend times at Barcelona ...

We love it as saw it in 07 before Med Cruise as we had the brilliant times...

I texted mother in law now to see what she want Sunday or Wed... I am sure that they want to be with us as they like Barcelona too...

Love go back to fountain water colourful with music as they missed it last times as we spend longer times...

Oh well heard the rumour that Disney will be Alaska in 2011?? who know...

When we were in British Columbia last month my oldest said that she wanted to go every summer as she had so much fun, but I told her we would not be able to go in 2010 as we are doing this cruise. It now looks like 2011 will have to be an extended trip a few days to visit family then a cruise. A Tuesday-Tuesday cruises will make it hard to work around, but when there is a will there is a way. I also told my oldest sister I would take her on an Alaska cruise if DCL every did the route, so now I am in more trouble

I was also hoping to do the PC cruise, but there is no way I can take the girls outs of school for 2 weeks in January just when they are returning from the 2 week Christmas break.

About PC Cruise - no chance for us too but Ian don't want to do it again... He prefere something different but ALASKA.... mmm

We already booked RC on April 2011 (it is non refundable) and I wish we should wait.. too late now... can change it to another date ...

but we think we just leave it now...(oh I am very tempt about Canada mmm)
