July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Good Morning TGIF

I have been doing lots of reading on Trip Advisor for hotels and I have narrowed things down too:

Rennaissance Chancery Court if I go will DCL airfare.

Sheraton Park Lane if I can use my Starwood Points.

Ruebens at the Palace if none of the above happens, this is close to Victoria Station but the rate almost seems too good to be true, so I am little leary on this(you know the too good to be true saying). It was 159 pounds for a room with a king bed and pull out couch, full breakfast each morning and then 1 dinner. Most other 4 star hotels were about $200 pounds and no meals, and only a king bed with a request for a rollaway bed.

I think I will also use the National Express Coach to Dover from Victoria Coach Station if I book air and hotel myself. Anyone know what time the port will be opening in Dover?

Now I will look into transfers to the airport in Barcelona, I gather a taxi or DCL tranfers will be the options.

Have a nice weekend.

Good Morning Lisa

Are you sure about National bus? do you know that it take about 5 and half hours to Dover?

At Med cruise with disney for late pm as it was opening in the morning about 10.30 am as we went along in the morning and had the fun in disney cruise all day...

Do you have timetable for National bus and the train?

I can send you information if you like....

For the Coach from Victoria Station to Dover it says it is 2 hours and 20 minutes and the train is 1 hour and 50 minutes, hopefully I am looking at the right places. Looks like both leave every hour in the moring for 2009 at least.

If it 5 hours I will need to do somthing else, 5 hours on the bus with my girls would not be fun.

National coach from Victoria coach station to Dover is about 2 1/2 hours and is by far the least expensive option -- the coaches are nice, like Magical express rather than like a Greyhound . . . In Barcelona the taxis will be lined up waiting to take you to the airport and will cost about 25-30 euro for up to 4 people.

Hi Lisa

My apologies for saying 5 hours as it was not...

I found the timetables for rail and bus...

now this is for bus...http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm

I work out as it is no big difference for rail or bus... I will have a look when near the time for 2010 which one is cheaper...

My investigations (using dates for this summer) show it as about 100 pounds for a family of four via train vs. about 40 pounds via coach . . .

that is good...:thumbsup2

I know-- I'd rather take the train but that coach price is just too good to pass up! A tip I got from someone is to book your coach transportation as soon as it opens up 12 weeks from the date you want to use it . . . the prices are apparently lowest then and you can print out your own ticket via email.

I have decide that we travel down to London then take the train to Dover and stay overnight in Dover...

Scottishwee35

Was thinking I should look into staying in Dover the night before as another option, is there any place you would recommend?

For those of you that have done European trips with kids, how did they handle the time changes? I remember when we were in Hawaii that every day we were wide awake at 4:00 AM, going the other direction to Europe I was thinking we may have the opposite problem on not being able to get the kids to bed at night and having a hard time getting them up in the AM. I figure if they are going to be up late we may as well head to Dover later in the day, the day before the cruise and then sleep in the day of the cruise.

My thought is that there is so much more to do in London than in Dover, and Dover is only 2 or 2 1/2 hours away, so easy to get to the day of the cruise . . . so we will be in London until the morning of our Baltic cruise -- however, the day this cruise is starting, we will get off the ship and visit Dover castle before getting back off.

I've done several transatlantic flights with my kids, and I find they adjust better than adults (or at least better than I do!). If you do an overnight flight, and they are able to sleep on the plane, then the sunlight when they get to the new time zone helps reset their biological clock. If you can go that first day until 8 or 9, then by the next morning everyone is more or less on the right time zone.

I can't remember a time when my kids couldn't adjust to the time change. We've been to Hawaii and Europe with them and they did fine! I guess the thing that was the toughest was occupying them on the flights over and back.

Just popping in to say Hello! We are leaving tomorrow for Disney and then DCL on Sat!!!!:cool1: and then another 5 days of WDW after the cruise!
Any questions you want for me to check on while I am there PM and let me know.
