July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days!

Boy you guys are getting really chatty!!! That is great. It just hard to keep up...but enjoy trying!

To whomever was going to the track meet....hope all went well! Our oldest runs varsity track as a freshman this year...and our 6th grader at the grade school level. Abby is currently at the Illinois State Track finals...she personally didn't make it, but there is a gal from the team who is running the 3200M. She did a sub 11 minute a week ago...and is the State Cross Country champion. The best part is she is a very humble and sweet young lady. Abby's coach took a few of the girls down to build the spirit of desire in them for next year...and cheer Caitlyn on!!!

I am going round and round trying to figure out how to pack...and what to pack! I know, all in all, we will be fine. But we have a friend who is flying with just her two kids...hubby is at a different flight...and has 5 (YES 5) layovers! I am trying to have her give me some of their items...just in case!

Anyway...keep posting away gang! DH has a patient sailing the first 10 day next week. Hopefully they will report back wiht great info!

It sure is fun, isn't it? Where in IL and FL are you? Do you live in FL in the summer? Or waiting til the kids are out of school? My husband and I grew up in the Chicago suburbs.

I notice you have an "obnoxious number of points". Are there DVC meets on the cruise? We're thinking about buying more points and wouldn't mind talking to some people (not salespeople ) about it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Our daughter just finished her HS fastpitch season. Travel ball doesn't start for 2 weeks (big break!!) Our 2 sons play baseball - so we're still busy with that.

We received our new Castaway Cards about 2 weeks ago. They are cute and all, but I cannot understand why they sent them. I guess it was to let us know about new benefits????? But why the new cards?????

Yes there is a Dvc meet on the cruise - there is also a dvc sales desk too.

We've added on once (SSR) I would love to add on AKL but DH says no way !

When you open the first flap, you see a picture of Mickey on a surfboard on the left and on the right flap is printing telling us to :Hang on to your new cards.. Then underneath it it says: Ten great reasons why: and it lists the same things they sent you in the email. An then under that: two huge new reasons: and it talks about the new ships.
When you fold the next flap there are the new cards which you peel off the cardboard on the right and the picture of Mickey shows more on the left and Goofy on a surfboard in the background. When you open the last flap, the picture of Mickey spreads across the four panels and a picture of a frightened Sebastian appears and it looks like Mickey is headed right for him. The Magic shows on the right in front of an island with a palm tree.

I am on Early and confident we will make Early (main) dinner, with the exception of Rome, thats a hopeful, but a possibility we would miss.

Palmero and Olblia back well in time, sea days OK, most of our trips are 8 hours and they plan to get us back between 5pm and 6pm.

Slight rush but theres a buffet at Topsiders if we miss it!

My kids will be on junk food if they do not have early dinner. Then will want to go to the kids club.

I think for the Med they will have to be reasonable, usually you should be there prompt i see people turn up about 15 mins late. But with early there will be a cut-off as they have to get ready for LATE dinner.

They have said TOPSIDERS is OK, on all our trips they aim to get us back on time, otherwise they are on overtime.

I am confident at all bar Rome, its a long way and traffic into and out of a capital city could be an issue, the rest fine.

Disney Cruise Line has partnered with Wireless Maritime Services (WMS) to provide a wireless cellular network aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

Subscribers of more than 340 cellular providers worldwide, including US carriers, Cingular Wireless, Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility, Sprint, T-Mobile and Alltel, will be supported on the network. Those guests who still look for a cruise vacation as a way to escape need not worry--service will be available only in guest staterooms.
