July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! - Part 4

Sorry about that Sandra, just remember once the uncomfortable stuff is over, you have a fabulous reward! Think of all of us, while you're drinking a konk cooler on CC. We're not schedule to go back for a year and a half........agony! This weekend were going down to WDW for a quick trip and to "walk" the HM. The rest of my family plans to run it.:cool1: I'm just doing it for the "I finished" T-shirt!;)

:goodvibes Happy New Year Guys:goodvibes

I HOPE 2008 is a great year for you all.

I have just booked a holiday today. I am going to Tunisia with my mam in 6 weeks. I'm quite excited. Off to do some reading up as I've never been there before.;)

Helen, that sounds so wonderful! Make sure you post pics when you get home!

Hi Sandra,

Nice to hear from you and glad all is well. Have a great time on your cruise next month.

It's just as cold here - but should be back up to 58 degrees by Tuesday - this weather is crazy. I do hate the cold.

DH better everyday - off coaumidin and insulin shots. :cool1: :cool1:

Anna, Great news about Gaspare. Glad he continues to improve!
Hi, we are excited about the cruise. We're flying on 2/14 THursday in case of bad weather we want to be sure we'll make it so we'll be in Orlando on Friday before the cruise.
I'm not sure if we'll get to WDW. I'd like to but it is expensive for just one day. We had Gerry's cousins stay with us for Gerry's grandmother's funeral and they live near Orlando so we are planning on getting together with them at some point. I had not met them but we had a great time while they stayed with us.

The disboards group for our cruise is not active at all which is kind of disappointing especially after being part of this group. I'm trying to get in touch with someone for Lilly to connect with prior to the cruise but so far no success.

Right now I'm getting ready for a colonoscopy, yuck! My dad had colon cancer so it's important for me to go but I have trouble with anesthesia so it has to be done in the hospital with general anesthesia. They are bad enough without adding 3 days of low fiber diet and then clear liquids and I won't even go into the last preparation. It's not until Tuesday and I'm miserable already.

Having the cruise to look forward to and make plans for is keeping my mind off things for now. I'll be glad when Wednesday comes.

Lilly's basketball team is going to the Boston Celtics game on Wednesday and will be playing a scrimmage game on the court during the half time. Then they will get a DVD of the game and the scrimmage. They are so excited, it's a great opportunity. I'll let you know how it goes. Gerry is the coach so he's going too.

Sandra

Glad to hear from you Sandra. Isn't it wonderful to be as excited about this as the kids!!!!!! You will have a wonderul time!! Wish you could join us in 2009. Maybe you'll change your mind and ditch RC to join us (we hope)

Harole Ann, Best of luck to Garry. Maybe you could look into our July 18 Tortola cruise. The planning may perk him up?????

JoAnn, have a wonderful time in WDW. Glad Tara is settled.

Maryann

Wow, I had to search for us again. Page 3?????

Hope the colonoscopy went ok Sandra.

How is everyone else doing????????

It went well, It took a long time for me to come out of the anesthesia but we're used to that. I'm glad it's over. We'll get the biopsy results in 2 weeks but the Dr. said she wasn't concerned.

The preparation is always the worst but I don't have to go back for 5 years:banana:

We are going through the Navigators from the Med cruise and our last family cruise. It's getting closer, we leave in 35 days. I don't know how we waited for 15 months for the Med Cruise. The dis board group for this cruise is not very active. At least for the Med cruise we had each other to talk about it with.

JoAnn, I read Tara's blog, she is quite funny and sounds like she's settling in pretty well.

Thx Sandra, glad the "procedure" is over! We're heading home from WDW, I can never get enough of it! We saw some DCL busses and books and I was longing for a return trip! We're not scheduled to go back until 2009........:confused3 However, I'm trying to get a trip together for WDW this summer with DVC.......we'll see........hope all are well!!:cloud9:

Highlights of our trip to WDW.................we didn't get park hoppers this time (to save a little money and running around) and honestly, we enjoyed the parks more! Maybe just going to one place and not running around too much makes each visit more enjoyable? Loved AK this time, did the Safari; Kali River Rapids (we got soaked) and Lion King show. Some of us also did EE, which most of them enjoyed!:confused3 Also, Dinosaur was fun.

In MK, we went on POC, HM (which apparently was refurbished and better than ever!), Small World, Buzz, BTRR. We went at night and it was foggy, it was fun!

Finally, we went to EPCOT and visited countries:banana: (has anyone noticed the winetasting, etc. back there?);) Also, shopped and went on a few rides (we didn't have a lot of time)

Overall, WL was fantastic and relaxing. Also, a good location for MK. We had a car which made the other parks accessible. We also had to go to WWS for the race check-in and EXPO, which was fun.

We ate at Mexico, WL (all the restaurants there) & the new Tusker House (I think that's what it's called in AK.) Everything was wonderful as always.

:lovestruc Overall, a fun trip, it was so nice to be back!:cloud9:

Glad you had a wonderful time! How could you not, it sounded so wonderful. Counting down the days, literally, until our February break and DH & my little get away. Can't wait to see the new HM & Spaceship Earth in Epcot. We love AK at this time of year because you can really take your time and enjoy the animals and ambiance without sweating bullets.

Thx MA! We never enjoyed AK as much as we did this year! I would really like to plan a visit at some point this year using DVC points, I'm just trying to figure out when we could go.......summer goes by so fast! Have a great trip in February and send us the highlights!!!:goodvibes

Hi, We are going to have one free day in Orlando before our cruise. Does anyone have recommendations as to whether or not it is worth it to go to WDW for just a day? If yes, which park do you recommend?

We are staying near the airport but they have a shuttle to the parks. Also what is the cheapest ticket available for one day?

The last time we went was in 2001 and the kids didn't really like WDW. They don't do rides. All they wanted to do was see shows and characters. That's why we decided to try cruising. Now we are hooked on cruising but with 1 day in Orlando I was wondering about trying it one more time.

Any opinions or ideas would be appreciated.

Okay, well, my advice would be to go to Universal Studios for the day, especially, if you haven't tried that.........Islands of Adventure is cool and Universal Studios is really fun (they're two separate parks but I think you can do both in one LONG day) I would do just Universal if you just want to do one. Also, you'd be closer to these parks from the airport. Let us know what you decide!

Hi Sandra! You must be so excited to have a cruise coming up so soon!

I would like to suggest Disney's Animal Kingdom for a one day experience with kids who aren't crazy about rides . . . the safari ride is really cool, like being in Africa, and the Lion King Show and Finding Nemo show are wonderful. There is also just a great atmosphere for wandering around and seeing the different lands. It's a smaller park too, so you could do everything you wanted in one, shortish, day.

Unfortunately I think the one day pass is about $71 for each person, so not cheap, but Universal would be similar. I like Universal, but think that if you aren't into rides that much AK might be a better one day choice.

Thanks Julie,
I was wondering about AK but the price is steep. I looked into Universal and it did seem to have a lot of rides. We still have a month to decide so I'll keep looking.

I agree with Julie about AK, especially when it isn't too hot out. We actually had a really nice one day there last week. One more point for Universal (the Studios side) doesn't have too many roller coasters, as most of the rides are less scary, movie-themed, creative rides. I'm really afraid of roller coasters, so believe me, I know where to go to have fun and avoid them! Either park will be great. Islands of Adventure has more roller coasters, but also has many cool creatively themed rides! Let us know what you decide!!

Ok, Julie, we need to chat.....I JUST SAW SPRING AWAKENINGS WITH MY YOUNGEST TWO DAUGHTERS!!!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Are you confused because you didn't understand it, or confused because I liked it????:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm pretty sure I understood it, ;) , but I also gave my 17 year old quite an education. I felt immediately obligated to give "the talk!" (JKJKJKJKJK):rotfl2: My other daughter is 20 and she was alittle embarrassed too! I thought the second half was better than the first half. I think you were saying that you were on the stage seats with your daughter? Anyway, it was interesting!:hippie:

My oldest daughter (15) and I have seen it 10 times, and all but 2 have been onstage. We go back next Sunday (the 27th) again, with her boyfriend, and we are onstage. I haven't let the 13 and 10 year olds see it, but they have all had "the talk" for quite some time!:lmao:

OK, you are making me feel like a pervert now . . .:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
