Yes. My son works in a public high school and they can wear a short sleeve shirt and tie. The students have wool jackets and ties, both boys and girls. It really is an equalizer but on hot days, I wish we could wear shorts!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Hi everyone,

Just got home from the hospital. My dh came home from work today and was experiencing severe chest pains. Five hours later - he is okay. He did have a heart attack. Apparently he has had a few silent ones before and his heart/muscle is damaged. They put a stent in on the main artery which was completely clogged and the other two arteries that are not as clogged will try medication. If medication does not work, two more stents. He is very lucky to be alive and thank God it did not happen a few weeks ago on the cruise. He "might" be home Friday. This is a person who never go to a doctor. We will learn now from this wake up call.

Anna---I am so glad you got your dh to the hospital. We went thru the same thing just about this same time last year. My dh was having severe chest pain and after two trips to the emergency room and a normal stress test they finally did a heart cath and found he needed four stents. I know how you feel. It is a very frightening situation. Please know you are all in my prayers.:grouphug:

We just returned from our dd's home in South Carolina. I think she and her husband may be going with us on our cruise in November of next year! We just mentioned it at dinner one night and I think it really lit a spark! Our son-in-law is really excited about going, but not half as much as I am. It would mean so much to me if they would go with us! I am keeping my fingers crossed!:goodvibes

Whatever itinerary Disney comes up with for 2009 will be hard to top the vacation we just experienced. Not only the trip, but the friendships that were part of the trip! We will just have to wait and see what will come our way next!

Sweet dreams, everyone!:cloud9:

I haven't yet stooped to shorts, but this last couple of days, I was tempted (I actually had them on, but I took them off!) I work for public school, but it was NEVER this tough in the past.....................:sad2:

Congrats on arranging your flights! We like JetBlue, which doesn't release until about 6 months out, so I don't have to think about that for a while.

BA is 11 months out, Virgin 10 months, needed to organise as have to get the kids back to school quickly after cruise, Virgin didnt play ball, so I am off with BA.

I get to LAX earlier so hopfully can get into the DL park on the first evening.

Glad you made it back safe and sound. I've been carrying my bag everyday to work. I haven't found a place for my bird yet, so it's hanging out with my beauty and the beast stuff.

You are so ahead of the game. My cruise is in May and I haven't thought about flights. Then again my stuff is domestic, so I can wait awhile.

Its school holidays here and with only two main airlines going to both LA and Orlando direct, its worth booking early for us.

We like to book early as well. For our Adventures by Disney trip next year, we already booked our air. There is only one flight that fits the time we have to arrive so we jumped on it. Couldn't believe the price, though. It cost us almost as much to Jackson WY from NY as it did to Barcelona!!!!!

PS- Good to hear from you Harole Ann. Hope you can cruise with your family next year. We used to vacation together but now my kids have to stay back to take care of my mom. Hopefully, we'll be able to vacation together again in the future. There's nothing like it (although DH & I do enjoy just the two of us)

That's exciting....one step closer!!:goodvibes

Well, we're having a dreary (not hot) day on the East Coast.......let's hope all the schools finally chill down for next week! Have a nice weekend everyone!:goodvibes

Hello everyone,
Sorry it's been awhile since I've been posting. Back to school is such a busy time for me, as it is for everyone. We also have a dresscode but our school is airconditioned so it's not really a problem except for getting used to getting dressed up everyday by 6:30 am. :scared1:

HaroleAnn, I was praying for you on 9/11 since you weren't too excited about flying then. I'm glad to hear that your daughter and her family are considering going cruising with you next year. You'll have a wonderful time. Also, glad to hear you got back safely. In some ways it's probably the safest day to fly.

We booked our flights for the cruise in Feb. Very expensive but what are you going to do, we got a great discount on the cruise by booking onboard but all the savings was taken up by the increase in the airfare. It's too hard for the kids to take time off from school now that they are in high and jr. high school, and I work at the school too. So school vacations are the only times we can really go. I know we'll have a great time.

We are so spoiled by the DisBoard group on our Med trip. There really isn't anyone on the boards for the 2/16 trip. It's kind of disappointing. We were hoping for Lilly to be able to connect with someone her age before we leave.

Is there actually a reunion trip being planned for 2009. We'd love to be able to book from onboard in Feb. Please let us know.

Have a great weekend,
Sandra

I think the first step is to wait for the announcement about itineraries.......hopefully we'll find out soon where the Magic is going in 2009!

I had to call Disney Cruise Line yesterday regarding our next cruise and had a very nice lady on the phone. She must not have been busy because we talked for quite a while and I asked her about 2009. Of course I know they could not tell anything even if they know, but she said there are no special itineraries expected for 2009. They will be announcing the new ship and where it will go but for now they only anticipate the Caribbean.

Sandra, thanks for thinking about us on the flight on the 11th. I do believe it may be one of the safer days to fly as security was certainly more obvious than usual and all luggage was opened and checked. It was not checked like that when we went thru customs!:confused3

We had a great time with our daughter and son-in-law and are so excited about them wanting to cruise that I already called DVC and booked the cruise for them and put the itinerary in their anniversary card! Now all I have to do is wait untill November!! I know we will have a great time with them and Jan and Howie are also going. I think it was JoAnn who said there is no better family vacation than a cruise, so I hope we get our chance!

I was hoping we would hear from Anna. I hope her husband is home and taking care of himself.

Hopefully everyone will have a cooler week at school if your weather is like what we have had this past weekend. I almost turned the furnace on this morning. It was 41 outside! Our schools are airconditioned like Sandra's, but I remember all too well what the little ones smell like after they come in from recess when the weather is hot! Your classroom smells like a room full of wet dogs! At least that was my take on it in 10 years with Kindergarten!:goodvibes

Have a good week everyone! Sounds like Andrew and Mary Ann have next summer's travel plans well in hand. Enjoy!:cool1:

Hi Harole Ann -

Thanks for asking and thinking of me (and everyone).

My dh went in on Tuesday the fourth and came home that Friday. We went to the cardio. He told him he needs to take it easy for now and had two tests done (ekg and the sonogram (?) to check the vein on the neck - sorry can't remember the medical term for this- and it was good.

He is scheduled for blood work and a stress test October 1st. We will see how that turns out to see if he can go back to work, when and what kind of work. He told him again that he is lucky to be alive and now he must change is lifestyle (eating habits - low salt, low-fat, you know the diet that we should all be on ;) ). He looks good and feels very good so he must remember not to do heavy lifting and excessive walking/excercise for now.

He is already bored and I don't think he could stay home if he had to.

I know Wendy is also waiting to see if DCL has any new itineraries for 09. My sil and I had discussed before the med. cruise that we were going to put in for a search in Cancun for July 09. We are both dvc members and have started the search. We will wait til 9/08 and if nothing, will cancel and make other plans.

I hope someday some of will run into each other on another cruise or an Advenuture by Disney vacation.

Will keep you updated.

Glad school is in session and Thank you to all the teachers here for the great job you do.

Harole Ann,

They will be so excited!!!!!! How will you stand it to be able to wait so long??????

Anna,

Great news about Gaspar. We are still praying that everything will stay OK.

Sandra,

I've decided we can never recreate the wonderful cruise we had and I'm afraid no matter where we go, we'll always say it wasn't like the Med. Having resigned myself to that, I'm determined to enjoy all my future vacations!!!! We are flying to WDW in Feb. and always pay top dollar because of the popularity of that time. At least you got a break on the cruise rates.

I think that even if DCL only goes to the Caribbean in 09 that's probably what we'll do. We haven't done the Eastern and, just think, if we can get a few of us together, we'll have a blast no matter where we go!!!
