July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 2

I had to call Disney Cruise Line yesterday regarding our next cruise and had a very nice lady on the phone. She must not have been busy because we talked for quite a while and I asked her about 2009. Of course I know they could not tell anything even if they know, but she said there are no special itineraries expected for 2009. They will be announcing the new ship and where it will go but for now they only anticipate the Caribbean.

Sandra, thanks for thinking about us on the flight on the 11th. I do believe it may be one of the safer days to fly as security was certainly more obvious than usual and all luggage was opened and checked. It was not checked like that when we went thru customs!:confused3

We had a great time with our daughter and son-in-law and are so excited about them wanting to cruise that I already called DVC and booked the cruise for them and put the itinerary in their anniversary card! Now all I have to do is wait untill November!! I know we will have a great time with them and Jan and Howie are also going. I think it was JoAnn who said there is no better family vacation than a cruise, so I hope we get our chance!

I was hoping we would hear from Anna. I hope her husband is home and taking care of himself.

Hopefully everyone will have a cooler week at school if your weather is like what we have had this past weekend. I almost turned the furnace on this morning. It was 41 outside! Our schools are airconditioned like Sandra's, but I remember all too well what the little ones smell like after they come in from recess when the weather is hot! Your classroom smells like a room full of wet dogs! At least that was my take on it in 10 years with Kindergarten!:goodvibes

Have a good week everyone! Sounds like Andrew and Mary Ann have next summer's travel plans well in hand. Enjoy!:cool1:
GL with your family travel plans! We expect a full trip report!!

The heat isn't about the scent of the classroom........IT'S ABOUT THE MIGRAINE YOU GET FROM THE HUMIDITY which gets trapped into the building! Enough about that! BTSN is Wednesday when it will be over 80 degrees...............:confused3

Hi Harole Ann -

Thanks for asking and thinking of me (and everyone).

My dh went in on Tuesday the fourth and came home that Friday. We went to the cardio. He told him he needs to take it easy for now and had two tests done (ekg and the sonogram (?) to check the vein on the neck - sorry can't remember the medical term for this- and it was good.

He is scheduled for blood work and a stress test October 1st. We will see how that turns out to see if he can go back to work, when and what kind of work. He told him again that he is lucky to be alive and now he must change is lifestyle (eating habits - low salt, low-fat, you know the diet that we should all be on ;) ). He looks good and feels very good so he must remember not to do heavy lifting and excessive walking/excercise for now.

He is already bored and I don't think he could stay home if he had to.

I know Wendy is also waiting to see if DCL has any new itineraries for 09. My sil and I had discussed before the med. cruise that we were going to put in for a search in Cancun for July 09. We are both dvc members and have started the search. We will wait til 9/08 and if nothing, will cancel and make other plans.

I hope someday some of will run into each other on another cruise or an Advenuture by Disney vacation.

Will keep you updated.

Glad school is in session and Thank you to all the teachers here for the great job you do.
Best wishes to your DH for a swift recovery!!

Harole Ann,

They will be so excited!!!!!! How will you stand it to be able to wait so long??????

Anna,

Great news about Gaspar. We are still praying that everything will stay OK.

Sandra,

I've decided we can never recreate the wonderful cruise we had and I'm afraid no matter where we go, we'll always say it wasn't like the Med. Having resigned myself to that, I'm determined to enjoy all my future vacations!!!! We are flying to WDW in Feb. and always pay top dollar because of the popularity of that time. At least you got a break on the cruise rates.

I think that even if DCL only goes to the Caribbean in 09 that's probably what we'll do. We haven't done the Eastern and, just think, if we can get a few of us together, we'll have a blast no matter where we go!!!

I really wish the 2008 itineraries were to the Caribbean.......I haven't been to CC in many years and I don't want to wait two years! We will probably go in 2009 to the Carribean if that's where the Magic is sailing!popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: Then I might cancel the Mexican trip and go back to Italy next summer........so many decisions!

Hi Maryann,
When will you be in FL? We will be there in Feb. before our cruise. We are staying in Orlando and considering going to WDW just for the day. It would be so great to get together. I was just printing some pictures for the scrapbook and looking at the Madellena pictures, we had such a wonderful time there with you and Tom.

Anna, So glad to hear your husband is doing better. I can't imagine trying to keep my DH from doing anything for over a month. He'd gain an extra hundred pounds since he eats when he's bored. I'll be praying that all is well on the 1st.

Have a great day everyone,
Sandra

Hi all.

Im home alone at the moment. Just me and the dogs.

Dave is on a scuba diving holiday in Egypt! (alright for some.) He is there with my brother and it sounds like there having a wonderful time. They are based @ Sharm el sheik on the coast, but I've just had a text saying on Thursday they are going on an excursion to Cario and the Pyramids. Hmm what am I doin Thursday - taking the car to the garage, then going to acupuncture. :rolleyes1

Im really jealous can you tell. :lmao:

School is going great - Im pleased to say and I've just about got the names of all the children I'm teaching ( I take 5 different classes for half a day a week).
I am in Nursery this year for an afternoon- which is kind of scary - there just 3 and they have very wiggly bottems when sitting on the carpet. :confused3

My school has just been awarded ' international school status'. If any of you teachers would like to set a link with a class in the UK, please let me know and I would love to organise this. The children in our school range from 5-10.

Oh well got to go and mark some books.

Take care

Sorry, Helen..........:confused3 Hang in there!!

Ok.......help me out! I have a student from the UK, he's not doing too well (I believe he misses his home country!) Maybe we could set something up for him. I don't understand what the link idea is (but I'm interested!) PM me if you can.........about it.........

Listen to this one...........remember when Andrew was sending us the freaky Doctor Who pictures?? Well, my little Brit student who is known for his underachievement........just finished a Doctor Who book.....and we were discussing how it is similar and/or different from the TV show! Making connections is very important around here (in reading responses.)He told me that the only way he can watch it is on the BBC channel......:goodvibes

I was actually able to discuss this with him (which he loved)....I really think his biggest problem is homesickness..... Let me know when you have a sec.....

I don't think it's going to work out.:sad1: We arrive late on the Thursday, the 14th and are staying in Orlando Friday, then leaving early on Saturday to go to Port Cananveral. Our cruise ends on the 23rd and we're flying right back to Boston.

Hi Everyone,

Things are going ok here. My mom has her good days and bad days as we all do. This past week has been difficult. My Mom's birhtday was the 16th and my parent's anniversary was the 18th.(It would've have been 53 years). I have to say I'm glad this week is over.

Now for some good news- My brother and his wife are expecting thier first baby Sept. 29th. It 's a boy and we can't wait until he arrives!
My nephew ( a graduate of West Point who has served in Iraq) and his wife just received approval to adopt a 5 year old boy from Viet Nam. We've seen pictures and he is adorable! We hope the adoption wiull be final by Christmas.

We're going to WDW for the Food & Wine Festival Oct31- Nov.4. My sister and her family are going and so is my mom. I think this
will be good for her.

I know I've missed so much on this thread the last few weeks so I aplogise if I've missed any congratulations, birthday wishes, etc. I'll never be able to catch up.

It's good to be back!
