I'm in Garden City...only 25 minutes away... OK... 2hours with traffic:lmao: :lmao:
I am going to have a pre meet BBQ- I will let you know when.. there are a few familes who live in Staten Island, and one very close to me in Malverne

Hi Julie,

I'm from Malverne on Long Island, about 10 mins from Sallie. Welcome!! What a wonderful vacation you have planned! It seems to be an offer you couldn't refuse.

Be prepared for the "ask her anything" that Andrew suggests. I for one have never been to Europe and it's really "foreign to me" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Seriously, hope you don't mind the simple and ridiculous questions from some newbies.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Maryann

Welcome Julie!! What a wonderful vacation you have planned!! I would love to be adopted by you as well. There is another family doing our cruise and then the 10 day one you cancelled and then the repo.....35 days on the Magic!! Either of you can adopt me!!

I have two DD's. DD13 is Annie (rising 8th grader) and DD11 Gretchen (rising 6th grader) if you have any my space, or e-mail or IM you would like to share I will pass it off to my girls. Also there is a TEEN/TWEEN thread for the kids on our cruise!!

I am also on the WB 2008 Panama, but I do not post on that thread. I do post some on EB 2008 Repo (I am lucky in that I get to do both Repos) and spend lots of time here!!!

Me too...what is that all about. Sometimes my kids just kill me.......They will say "Mom why don't you have any new clothes...."......."well, DUH...I spend it all on you!!"

Exactly!

So why don't you post on the westbound repo?????? Are we too horrible to talk to???? I am looking forward to meeting you . . .

It will be great for my girls to meet some kids who will also be on the Westbound repo next year . . . with all those days at sea, having found a friend will make all the difference.

I'm not saying that I couldn't do the 35 days in a row on the Magic (the one you are talking about had posted on our Aug. 8 thread), but I like the way we are doing it with the Paris/DL Paris trip between the two cruises. I'm actually a little curious as to how we will take all those days on the ship -- and at sea -- on the transatlantic but I'm now anxious to find out.

Hi Maryann! I spent quite a lot of time in college literally wandering Europe with very few plans other than a Eurailpass . . . since then I've gone on several European trips more recently with some or all of my girls and really like planning it out and doing it on our own. For the Aug. 8 trip I had not planned a single DCL excursion, so switching was not that bad from that angle. If you would like to know how I am winging it at any or all ports, I will be happy to share.

Please do let me know . . . sounds like great fun (and of course if we leave at 4:30 AM on a weekend you will in fact only be 25 minutes away -- is that the time you had planned????!!!!!).

how true!!!! we are not doing excursions in Sardinia and Marsalle- I would love to have some suggestions-!!

You are too kind!!! Actually ,the breeder is going to drive up to deliver the cats to me since I bought Cleo and Chloe from her 15 years ago. She will not ship her cats, and I am so happy about that- I would have drove down with my husband if that was the case. I wonder if she is near you- they are located in Evington, Virginia 24550- Imagine if they are in the same neighborhood??? With all this "its a small world" going on ,on this thread I wouldn't be surprised!!! If so, you can send Annie and Gretchen with them to meet Carley for a pre- meet:banana:  then we could open our home to them!!!Dont worry- we will send back before the cruise for packing!!!:grouphug:
I have lived here all my life and I have never heard of Evington VA....but the zip code looks like it is close to Blacksburg, VA (VA Tech) I am going to go look it up.....

Yippee!!!!

(But whose counting?)

Hee, hee. Did you ever think that the teachers look forward more to summer vacation than the students?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Carrie - I am impressed - 32 Multi-quotes and 19 directly responded too.

Nicely done - I would have lost it after the 15th response.

OK Folks - Aurora 1959/Carrie has the title for the moment - "QUEEN OF MULTI-QUOTES!" on this thread that is! :rotfl:

Wonder who's gonna be brave enough to challenge you on that one?

Course as is responded too on the other threads - you could have upped your post count and gotten a lot of posts.

I actually had 4 or 5 more to add, but the one that they were about was deleted or edited. Sad too, because I thought it was hilarious. I was envisioning guys trying to convince their Dr's that they honestly wanted to prevent jet lag, and not join any clubs.

congratualations on 100

Thanks

Wasn't it just Saturday you were still 'earning your ears'? :)

Good job -

NOTE TO SELF: When telling others to 'just jump in.' be careful we are not on the MAGIC!

Can you imagine what would happen if I said - just take the bull by the horns!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Not quite the same flight - I'm leaving Thursday morning, SFO-JFK-LHR-BCN. The extra stop is annoying, but our flights were dictated by availability of frequent flyer flights (all of us are using them, half on United and have on American). We arrive in Barcelona on Friday afternoon.

We're staying that night at AC Barcelona. And yes, we're letting Disney worry about the transfers and such.

I'm going to try to adjust by sleeping on the flight, but I know from experience that the first night is tough. I also want to stay on an early schedule on this trip - most of my excursions are early morning and I do want to get enough sleep on this vacation.

But then again, one never knows....

We are going to sleep on the flight too. I have some herbal stuff the Doc gave me when I went to India to sleep on the flight. I just set me clock as soon as we got to the airport, and as soon as i was on the plane I took it. I set me alarm to wake me up when it was 'morning' and then used coffee and excedrin to stay awake. When we arrived it was 11pm, so i just then went back to sleep. Woke up at 8, and was fine. I suggested this to my collegues, but none did it, and all had major jetlag. That and the bottle of tequila they bought before we left SFO, and drank by the time we got to Frankfurt.

Good morning everyone - I'll keep it clean today so that I don't get deleted.:worship: Please forgive the behavior from yesterday.:)
I was going to PM you about that. I was wondering what happened. because i had started reading from work, and had copied the posts I wanted to comment on, or re-read. Then i emailed it to myself. So I knew it was there, just couldn't find it when I got home.

Congratulations!!!!!:cheer2:

Thanks

To all those who are trying to beat Andrew:
I say we all join forces, log in as Helen and take over this board

:rotfl: :rotfl:
:sad2: Ok since going back to work the last 2 days have not been good calorie wise . I was soo tired I forgot to take the steak out of the freezer this morning for tonights beef stir-fry. So instead Dave ordered an Indian takeaway. :sad2: I've even eaten to jaffa cakes today aswell and had abagel for breakfast instead of ceral. I really need to get a grip tomorrow- Im really annoyed with myself!

Every once in a while we are not good. But that's ok, we can always make up for it.

HI Everyone,
Thank you so much for the well wishes and all the PMs that were sent. How amazing is it ,that total strangers, some thousands of miles away, can actually make a person feel such empathy and compassion when so sad. As I wrote to some of you privately, I feel so blessed to have found this thread, firstly because I know I will be so much better prepared for this trip with all the prior knowledge and brainstorming that goes on here. And, secondly, because I have found such wonderful friends in what I consider a magical way- through invisible satellite waves that magically and instantly answer questions, provide help and can give a hug without even physically being there. I hope you understand what all these ramblings of mine are trying to say. So, again, I thank you all.:flower3:
We had to put Chloe down Monday night. Suffice it to say, it was one of the more difficult times in my life. Of course I do put this into perspective, wars, soldiers dying, sick children, etc., but loosing a pet after 15 years is very heart breaking.
As I mentioned, I do have her sister, they were siamese twins who I am now very concerned with. We are paying as much attention to her as possible, and keeping her busy so she dosent continually roam the house looking for her sister, and become depressed, which tehy are very prone to do. So, far, she has not been meowing that much, and only seems to roam at bedtime.
I called their breeder, and thank goodness, she is still breeding traditional l siamese cats. She has since moved to Virginia, but through the magic of the internet, again) I was able to track her down.
She has a litter of kittens they are just ready to be sold. So, we are getting 2 more sometime next week. I just cannot let Cleo stay alone during the day while we are working, so I hope she bonds with them as soon as possible. I am feeling better today, I finally turned my computer on and tried reading pages of posts, although I know I missed a few.
Here are our pre- cruise plans:
Paris- one night Hotel Lutetia(26th) ( TA booked it)
Barcelona one night- Hotel Hesperia Presidente
Post- one niht Hotel Husa Illa
(27th)[

I posted the fountain thing a couple of weeks when I saw it on the other thread, soooo glad you re arranging that Helen- thanks

 Still thinking of you.

Jeez, Andrew -- let me introduce myself instead of having you jump in with the "She's got a strong personality" bit! Really, it's just to pull him down a few notches. But yes, my girls (who will be 15, 12, and 10 at sailing) and I were booked on the Aug. 8 Med cruise since the day they were released and just jumped ship (so to speak) to your cruise. Our TA pointed out that we could take the cat 12 GTY on yours PLUS the Aug. 18 repo for less than what I had already paid for the Aug.8 cruise (which so far has not been discounted). So that's what we did, and we will go to Paris and Disneyland Paris between getting off this cruise Aug. 8 and getting back on for the transatlantic Aug. 18. I look forward to meeting all of you.

:welcome:

mmm interesting ;)

Congrats. that was almost another one word pirate.

UMMM.....Mae West right? ;)

Woman and curves are good! :rotfl:

If women and curves are good - then I'm Great. :lmao:

I do sometimes post on the EB Panama(maybe 20 times total), but time is limited for now...so I stay up with this cruise and the WB Panama for now.....when those are done I will join the fun on the EB Panama!!

I am not on the WESTBound 2007.......only 2008

Send me your kids info(IM, My space, e-mail).....or if it is better, I will send you my kids info!!

how true!!!! we are not doing excursions in Sardinia and Marsalle- I would love to have some suggestions-!!

In Sardinia, there is a beach called Cala Sabina that is on Golfo Aranci near Olbia, and can be reached by train! I am thinking of asking a taxi driver to take us to the beach, and asking if he/she will be back at a pre-arranged time, with the train back to Olbia as a backup if they don't show. To take a train to the beach, just buy a ticket for Cala Sabina and you will get off a few meters from the beach. It sounds lovely, white beach, blue water, and juniper bushes (according to Authentic Sardinia by the Touring Club of Italy).

In Marseilles we plan to take a taxi to the train station and buy tickets to Arles. You can get wonderful walking guides there to show you where all of Van Gogh's "easels" have been placed to show the actual view he had when painting many of his famous works. There are also well preserved Roman ruins. Then I want to walk from the train station in Marseilles when we return to the Cathedral and wander down toward the Vieux Port . . . there are many fabulous shops there that make soaps and other toiletries with real Provencial lavender . . .

I have lived here all my life and I have never heard of Evington VA....but the zip code looks like it is close to Blacksburg, VA (VA Tech) I am going to go look it up.....
Okay, I looked up Evington VA...just East of Roanoke VA....so about 1 hour from VA Tech.....very small town.....about 3 1/2 hours south of us!!

I am guessing about a 16 hour round trip for the breeder.....

Have you picked out names for the kitties? or are you going to wait to see them to see what their names are? or do the bredders name them??

Me too...what is that all about. Sometimes my kids just kill me.......They will say "Mom why don't you have any new clothes...."......."well, DUH...I spend it all on you!!"

Does this mean we have to behave ourselves when you re-introduce us? :rolleyes1

Well, the clothes part - I'm just as quilty but when it comes to waxing, highlighting and lotions, creams, trianing sessions.....sometimes I wonder what I am creating!!!

A friend of my husband's just got back from Barcelona 2 days ago. She gave my husband a business card from a restaurant she highly recommends.. this is what the cards reads...

I vote for Ting A Ling first!!!!!!

Then the others.

Hi Sallie, so glad to hear you sounding better. I understand how difficult it's been for you and your family. Our cats were Betty and Wilma, as in the Flinstones (sp). They were sisters. Wilma died of congestive heart failure when she was 7 and we took Betty to a cardiologist every year for the next 9 years to make sure we were on top of it. My husband thought I was crazy. Betty moped around for a while. Wilma was definitely the more outgoing of the two. But Betty actually became less reclusive when Wilma was gone. She was a wonderful companion for the rest of her life.

It's exciting to think about new kittens and naming them. I can't wait to see the pictures.
