Laura,

There is a fountain in Barcelona that lights up at night with different colors. I think they call it the magic fountain, or something like that. Someone (who knows on which post number) said it might be a good place to meet on Fri. night before the cruise starts, maybe about 8PM'ish if I recall.

However,
I could have dreamt the whole thing. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Anyone else recall this? Or am I really losing my mind???:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow

We arrive into BCN at 8:30am Friday 27th staying at the Grand Marina (booked through DCL) - would love to make the "Fountain" meeting too.

Them are the best - no one can then argue with you! :rotfl2: ;)

SORRY - Helen - I apologize :worship: :worship: I was in a hurry - I JUST KNEW I was going to get spanked - ::yes:: she only smacked me but that was enough - I feel like a naughty schoolchild.

OK TMI but I need a shower. So I'll be on later.

Again - Sorry! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Please forgive me - here's a :flower3:

Sorry blame the headache, cross eyes! nut at the end of the keyboard etc.

Belated congrats! Cpt Hook, please dont make me walk the plank. ( split personality also Captains lady???)

Its ok - I forgive you:grouphug:

HOwever I'm just too tired to chat - Im off to bed good night all :flower3:

It's usually listed around the $1.98 however I send funds often to the UK to pay my DD's fees etc and the actualy rate is more like $2.03 unless you're sending funds in the 100,000's (that's what I've been told by our USA bank) I know that's only a few cents but when you're looking at amounts in the 1,000's it all adds up a few hundred $$'s!
We also travel often to the UK and Europe and have found that if you withdraw cash from an ATM the USA banks charge a commission on the withdrawal and and extra $5 service fee.

Speaking of exchange rates - here's a hint:

The capital one credit Visa card is the best deal I know of for U.S. travellers going abroad. They don't charge any foreign exchange fees, and offer a great conversion rate. Read more at http://www.thinkingaboutmoney.com/?p=140

Thanks. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you also. Actually it was someone - I think Andrew's? comment earlier sort of apologizing about how people were being... balmy? blimey? something British for silly I think, that convinced me to stick around.

I should warn you though..... in addition to an occasionally irreverent way of looking at the world... I, I (oh the shame)... I sometimes pun....

There, I've said it.

I hope you'll let me stay :worship:

We're all barmy I think that's the word you are referring too is it another Brit word... I love the differences in our language:thumbsup2

The Magic Fountain was definitely mentioned as a meet early on in the thread's life funnily enough I looked up the times of the show yesterday.
9:30pm, 10pm, 10:30pm, 11pm, 11:30pm.
It's at the Placa Espana, I was looking at photos and trying to work out where we could all meet. There is a museum of art there with steps going up we could say the bottom of the steps, it would be good to see the show.

Meeting at the Bar at the Grand Marina might be easier,

What if we had a meet in the Bar at the Grand Marina at 8:30pm and then all go together to the fountain show getting there for the 10pm performance (it's 2 metro stops away)

People that didn't want to come to the hotel could find us at the fountains.

What do you all think of that idea?

I also noticed that some of you are coming through London in the week before the cruise, I know that your time is short so I would understand if you didn't want to but if any of you would like to have a mini meet one night in London let me know, Andrew? I think Helen is probably too far away,

Lynn,

This sounds like a plan. Good idea.

So are you saying that you should exchange at your own bank before you leave?? :confused3

I like this idea

Just back from reading all of Michelle's reports on the Transatlantic thread.........she's very detailed...........sounds like crazy, blustery weather but the ports sound really cool..........also, it sounds like the early seating is cutting into her excursion and touring time in the ports....she's also complaining about getting out of dinner in time for the shows....some nights, it sounds like she has to pick between dessert and a show..........bummer!!:surfweb:

Hi all, checking in.
The plan to meet at the Grand Marina and then onto the Fountain sounds good. We are staying at the Grand Marina so that is convenient.

Got a call from DCL on the lanyards. They were answering my email from last week or so. Basically, they said "don't ask, don't tell", "we never had this conversation", "no one is going to hassle us about the lanyards if they get made since we are not selling them and they are for personal use".

Well, go to go, my pup is complaining about not getting fed.

Watching AI, then DWTS..........:goodvibes

I will never be able to get a pirate, so I am going to try to share a couple of pirates with you!! This picture was taken Pirates night on the West Coast cruise.

We will be at the Grand Marina and can't wait to meet you, Kayla!! My puppy is also begging to be fed!

If this picture works, I will send you one of her!!

Already!?

You can't be sure. Just when you think Helen has gone to bed, she posts. She must have ESP. We talk about her going to sleep, and she pops up again.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We really do love you Helen.

Nitey nite Helen,

Maryann
