That sounds like a good idea, hopefully there will be extra meetings. As you said, I'd like to be watching the white cliffs (and taking photos) while we sail away!

Andrew

If its sunny that will be a truly wonderful view. and if on starboard, you can see France! We could well ZigZag to cross the very busy channel lanes to go to the French side then go north. You will see many ships and ferries in the small confinement of the english channel.

That would be great wouldn't it, the only other times I've been across the channel have been on the ferry, straight across, so it'll be great to get a better view.

Fingers crossed the weather is sunny next Wednesday :)

Nope.... not DVC....

Have been approached hundreds of times.

DVC definitely does not do a hard sell to get people to join. The benefit of joining DVC sells itself. We bought our first batch of points in 1995 then added on at two other resorts and have never regretted it. In fact, we're on a waiting list to purchase additional points at a 4th (sold-out) resort.

There is one meeting per cruise for members and many meetings for all passengers to learn about DVC. The meetings are informative and there are gifts such as hats, mugs and lanyards. Cocktails are also served. There is also a raffle for an onboard credit. We enjoy attending the DVC member meetings. I just wish that it didn't interfere with the sail away time.

I felt it was a bit of a hard sell, time share has a bad name in the UK and it just felt 'uncomfortable' we didn't know in the late 90s we would go to WDW/DL/DCL/DLP so much. Now we have stopped going to the parks, next year 2016 is the last cruise for a while we other commitments. So not worth it now.

Yes its very similar to the concierge meets/parties. There were two on the 12 night Med last year, plus presentations. We have friends who are DVC.

Hey everyone - quick question: does DCL offer upgrades (for a price, of course!) on European cruises as they do for other cruises?

We opted for an oceanview room for the cruise next week because we splurged on the ABD add-on....however, I've never sailed without a verandah before, and would like to potentially snag one if possible. Do you think any will be available?

Our PAT is 11:30am...so we may be a little late for potential upgrade? :confused3

Well yes they could, we are near full so its unlikely I did see some verandah rooms available but they could be selling fast.

Only very limited Cat 5/6s available now.

'if' there some left for upgrades I think they will go in about 15>30 mins.

We're not either. As you mention, it's worth it if you go to the parks a lot, but we like ABD and DCL and it doesn't seem as the points go very far for those.

As the kids are getting older, I'm finding that we like venturing on different types of vacations and doing a lot of the planning ourselves.

thanks - I'll keep my fingers crossed. But I'll be equally content without it...I'll just need to spend more time at Cove Café! :thumbsup2

Yes we will be moving away from Disney from 2016.

Thanks for that, it sounds like it might be worth going if there's freebies to be had :teeth:

We haven't had an invite as yet though, will they still let us in if we have our DVC members cards I wonder?

It is a shame it clashes with the sail away time though.

I suppose we'll just have to decide on the day.

If it rains it may make the choice better.

If you miss the DVC reception, you can still get all of the freebies by stopping by the DVC Desk. Sometimes, they have extras right there at the desk. If not, they will make sure the items are sent to your cabin. We've always found them to be very accommodating! :)

That's true, I think I'd rather it was nice and sunny though :cool1:

That's good, thanks very much for that Deb, nice if we can get the best of both worlds! :thumbsup2
