July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

XLT800 and I were talking this morning...............

As I recall from a trip to CA (almost 18 years ago), in July....
Isn't the Pacific ocean cold?
or
Is Mexico that much further south of California, that it warms up?

Call me stupid..........but I was just wondering. Here in Tampa, our ocean water is like bath water in July.

The ocean water in CA is not warm like bath water but it is bearable as long as it is a sunny day. If it is overcast and cloudy then swimming might be a tad on the cold side but I usually get used to it in a minute or so. The water is warmer the farther south you go but we didn't get into the water on our last Mex Rive. cruise a few years ago. We went to Las Caletas in PV but there were jellyfish in the water so they recomended no swimming or snorkeling. We could see the jellyfish while we were kayaking and my husband still talks about what a "joy" I was to kayak with because I was afraid he was going to dump us in the water!! I yelled at him pretty much anytime he wiggled or moved, :rotfl2: I guess that comes in second to when he learned to snorkel with me on his back in Stingray City in Grand Caymen. Those things were HUGE!!! It was like the creatures the size of my coffee table swimming at us from every direction. I guess you can tell who gets to take of all the bugs and creatures in our house!!! Talk to you all later Amy :sunny:

Thanks Dave. The link worked. Is anyone considering doing anything privately. We did the Jeep safari on our honeymoon (yes, many, many years) ago and enjoyed it. The ATV or Dune Buggy rides sound great for my sons, I don't know about us adults (I think we would need a mask, lol). More choices. I have it in my favorites to explore a bit more.

we went on the july 4th eastern cruise 2001 then western july 5th 2003 i think thats where i met you both anna s and wendy p? a while back we searched on beaches for this cruise and mazatlan , said in july and aug there were jelly fish. anybody know the docks we arrive at in each place?

Yes, Minniemart - Lisa

It was the Western with my family, wendyp and her parents. Amazing how we have picked two cruises same time and first one not far off.

E-GADS!

Found us at the bottom of the 2nd page!

The stores here are starting to get a few "spring/summer things" here.
(ironic when you think that we're in the 70's this week and were in the 80's last week)

Makes me think of "cruise outfits".

Remember, XLT....I didn't buy ANY new clothes for our 5/04 cruise or the 10/04 cruise. Also....don't forget my bathing suits are from the 10/03 cruise!

Not enough men on this thread to even begin to debate whether new clothes or shoes should be bought for a cruise. I guess I better re-do the taxes and look for some more deductions.

Since we can deduct sales tax now, I guess I will have to look for a new waverunner this year....to help next years taxes of course   :teeth: :teeth:

Dave

Well, of course since the children are always growing (when are they going to stop and start to recycle those clothes like us?,lol) - they always need a "new wardrobe" and as much as I love dressing up, I have the extra garment bags and luggage for all the eve. clothes. We would never bring dress shoes for the men, suits, sports jacket and docker pants and dress shirts. All right, maybe one here or there "just in case" for a fancy restaurant = but most places are casual now.

So shopping for the kids. DH does not really need much :teeth:

I could probably use a few things - for Wendy, her parents and my family, this will be our third cruise together. We might be wearing something here and there that we have seen before - so maybe time to shop for something new? :goodvibes

(tchrmom begins reading the list of sales' tax items that can be claimed)

XLT.............I don't see waverunner, but taxes on clothing CAN be deducted!

Fran :teacher:

OK.......XLT has done the taxes, and sent them off. Now I KNOW we're going on this cruise!!!!!!!!!!!

:love2: You're the man, XLT!!!!!!!!

(tchrmom pulls out Lands' End cat. and looks for bathing suits)
AnnaS, wanna look at one too?

minniemart- Good to hear from you! Hope you're DH is feeling better. My DH is thrilled we're flying- this way I'll only take half the luggage I normally do because we always drive to Fla and take way too much ( according to my DH)! I know the my DD(13) and DS(16) will need new clothes - they're out growing everything- and my DS (19)should be o.k. I'd like to pick up a few new things for myself and DH. Time to start shopping!

Another Monday bites the dust. That means another day closer to the cruise!

XLT and I are still trying to figure out what excursions we are going to do. The jungle canopy thing looks interesting.............as well as the tequila factory tour.

DD and I have voted NO snorkling.......especially when we read this weekend that the year round water temp in Maz. is between 75 and 85! Brrrrrrrr! Too chilly for us! (I keep my pool at 90!)

I called Disneyland this weekend, and added another day for us. We arrive late the night of the 28th, so we will stay at the Paradise Pier, and be ready to start using our park hoppers on the 29th.

Wishing everyone a Happy Tuesday!

Just moving us up to page 1. I hope everyone is having a great week. :bounce:

I just found this discussion board and am still trying to figure everything out. So, please be patient with me. I will also be on the July 2, cruise. I will be traveling with my husband, my two sons ages 17 and 22 and two of their friends ages 17 and 20. I will continue to read the boards for ideas and suggestions on the excursions. Does anyone know if the 17 year olds will need an adult with them for the excursions? I am not looking forward to flying through the trees with them, but they think it sounds like a blast. (sounds like a job for DAD) We will be spending 4 nights at DL after the cruise. Can't wait!

hi! your teens will love it. i have 2 dd disneygirl421 on these boards will be 17 and other dd is 20. this will be our 3rd dcl . and the kids love it. make sure they attend the 411 mtg in the teen place the first night. as for the 20 yr odl they are in the middle i think. not adult nor teen so therefore tell them they will have just as much fun too, they will be able to swim in the adult pool so thats good. its getting close! talk soon lisa

Wdw1014 - welcome and we are all glad you found us. We knew there were other cruisers out there. :goodvibes

Is this your first cruise? We (including Wendy aopi57) will also be in DL after the cruise - some are going before.
Are you flying in the day before?

I would love to zip through the rainforest, my kids (dd 12, ds 17 and ds 19) think I might chicken out like I have before with parasailing. We have printed out the exercusion list and are trying to narrow some down.

Does anyone know what the minimun age is for Paolo? 18 or 21?

Thanks.

This is actually my 3rd dc. 2000, 4 day on the Wonder and 2002 7day western on the Magic. I have never been to dl, but have visited dw about 20 times. It is my husbands first cruise, cause his vacation has never worked out right to be able to go along. He is really excited. We are actually flying in the morning of the cruise, which kind of has me worried, but there was no other way for us to work it. We will fly out of Chicago at 6:30 a.m. and we should arrive in LA at 8:30 a.m. This will be my second time on a plane, so I am kind of anxious about that, but I am glad we don't have a 19 hour drive ahead of us. Which is how long it takes us to get to dw. Anyway so glad that I found you guys and once again I appologize. I am not very good with a computer so I am bound to make mistakes. Thank's for your patience.
