July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Sent passport applications yesterday. Sure glad that someone on these boards told us the price was going up on the 8th of March. We saved $48!! We expect to have them back by late April.

Thanks again for all your help making the various decisions about flight times.

Darcy

We are all here in desperate need of some new clothes. We won't get into the can I fit into last summers clothes (shorts, ect.) It is soooo cold here that I don't want to make any more trips out if I don't have to. We will need to pick up a few things though fast for our upcoming trip to Florida. Sorry about all the rain guys.

Barbara has two more cruises planned before our July 2nd. Hopefully she will come over after the last one (Memorial Day Weekend).

We definitely need a meeting place on the ship for the sailaway party. We did it on our last cruise with AnnaS and had a nice time. Minniemart- I believe we met you there.I think we met on deck 10. we either wore green ribbons or the green Mickey from Home Depot. It's a nice way to begin the cruise and you meet everyone all week on the ship. You begin to feel like old friends!

yes, we did meet up on deck 10! green is great. i have these capris that i bought last summer w/ palm trees on them and a bright green shirt. i am hoping i can still zip them. !!! me too , no more thin mints!! and i have to make up my mind as to which day i must start my diet!! DH looks great. he has done so well with his total hip replcemnt surgery. he has been driving now for a coulpe of weeks and will begin hes real commute to nyc tormoww. he has lost 60 lbs!! DD is now in wdw w/ friends for spring break, staying at pop centry. we all wish we were there too! talk soon lisa

Found us on page 2 . So I thought I would bump us back to the first page.
Has anyone been taking advantage of the spring sales for cruise clothes?
Have a good day. Angie

No Shopping here yet. :guilty:

and we are in the middle of another nasty snowstorm. Windy, cold, snow, icy - dangerous - just about says it all for now.

In desperate need of warm air.

I'm sending us back to the top because after reading though all the old messages I found out I would be buying drinks for everyone....not me!!

Just got the cutest suit jacket for my DS5 today. I know he is excited to go now. We will still dress up for formal night even if it looks like the dress code is relaxing a little these days. We are not dress up folks but I sure do want a few dress up pictures.

:) Doing my fair share..............So, BUMP!

HAHAHAHAHA

However, any other Disney cruise that we have been on.....it's last one to get docs, buys the first round. :goodvibes

So far, XLT and I have always been the first to get ours. (Maybe because we live so close to the mouse?)

I paid some more on my cruise this weekend. Only 1 more "chunk" of that to go, and we'll be officially going.
Disneyland and the Paradise Pier are already paid for. Airline tickets are also paid for. See what eating Ramen Noodles for 10 months will get you! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Have a happy Thursday!
Fran

You are funny Fran :goodvibes

Many people on the disboard and aol board seem to get documents/letters/documentation/vacation magic brochure way before us. I always wonder do they go in some sort of order? State, alphabetically, reservation/contract wise??? Who knows.

I finally took my dd to the mall to start picking up some summer items - the younger they are, the faster they outgrow clothes. It's a start - but she won't be needing much more and she definitely needed them for our upcoming West Palm Beach/WDW trip for Easter - I hope it will be warm there the end of March. It is rediciuoulisly cold here. My 19 yr. old wants a suit for the cruise rather than wear his sports jacket - unncesseary $$ - who knows when he will wear a suit again - a few years down the road - will it fit? will the style be okay?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Has anyone decided on any excursions yet? Another cold day in NY- in the teens this morning! Can't wait for the warm weather!

I don't have much to say, just that it is snowing here and cold. My 17 year old is totally against a sport jacket for the formal night. He says he will wear a shirt and tie, but (I beleive his exact words were) don't waist the money on a suit or sport jacket 'cause I'm not wearing them. I haven't told him that the dress code is being relaxed and jeans are now axceptable on four of the nights. I enjoy getting dressed for dinners on the cruise, but my ds has other ideas....

Anna...............Here's my theory on why we get out docs so early.

Disney keeps track of how much you spend each month. (In the parks, gift shops, online, resorts, kennel, etc........)

The family who "gave the most" gets their docs first. THAT would explain why we ALWAYS get them WAY before anyone else.
So, Anna, sounds like you can by me a Yellow Bird!
XLT likes them too!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Have a great Friday!!!!!!
Fran

Thats not fair Fran :confused3 you live a lot closer than we do

  Keep dancing :goodvibes

What is a yellow bird drink anyway - if I can drink it - you are on - is it a sweet drink? I am not much of a drinker - but don't get me started - I won't know when to stop.

My now 19 yr. old and 17 yr. old felt the same way when we first cruised. My older son had worn a sports jacket (had it from school) and my younger son refused to buy one. I think after seeing how dressed up everyone was and how nice the formal picture looked - he later changed his mind. Our second cruise they both wore their sports jacket (we had them anyway from school). They are more willing to dress up now - it's not for everyone though.
I am surprised my son wants a suit. They have expensive taste though :smooth:

I also have not told them about the jeans - perhaps as we get closer. I think it might be okay for them if they choose to - they have some nice jeans (no baggy style, etc.) - I prefer capris - lighter in weight, less space and just dressier - if I had to choose.

Surprised I found us on top of page one...

I'm new to these boards, so bear with me.
Our family (6), plus 5 other adult family members will be on this cruise too! We are very excited and this is the 1st cruise for everyone except myself and my hubby who cruised in 1988 to the Carribean.
I have lots of questions running thru my head already, but will try and research some of them before wasting posting space if they've already been discussed.
I'm thrilled to have very little travel involved...we live in Orange County, California.

Go ahead and ask away!! We live in OC (HB) also. Glad to have some neighbors along!! How old are your kids? We are bringing our brood of 4 plus Grandma and my SIL and her family. It should be a great time, Amy :flower:

I also found us at the top of the first page. That sure is a good change. My 17 year old is holding strong on no sport jacket, while the 22 year old is all for dressing nice. Sometimes I wonder if these two people are really brothers.
The good thing is ds 22 already has sport coats, shirts and ties as he needed them for student teaching this semester. I figure I'm not going to sweat the small stuff. We will have a fabulous time, even if a shirt and tie are as (dressed) as ds17 is going to get. We are signed up for the late seating for dinner. Has anyone done this seating? We had early seating on the other two DC, but I thought late might work better. We felt a little rushed with early seating on our last cruise, especially on days we were at a port. Any feedback would be helpful.
Have a good Friday, Angie

Thanks Amy. We are right next door in Westminster.
Our group will consist of me, hubby, DS turning 21 just before cruise, DS 15, DS 12, DD 6, gramma, SIL & BIL, and 1 more couple who are old friends. We had booked my brother and his family of 4, but they will not be able to join us now, so we will have to cancel them. Is it true we cannot just reassign their rooms if we have other friends that want to go?
We have category 5 rooms.
My 12 year old DS is disabled, so I have a few concerns on how to plan for any emergency's with him. My mom uses a walker so she has a handicapped room.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas or planning tips.

Jill

Please ask questions....it will help keep the thread on page 1 and give us all something to talk about. You may have a question that we have not thought of yet. This is our 5th cruise all on Disney. I am related to the one wanting to go "cruise shopping" ( see previous posts) tchrmom. Her problem is that she walks the mall for 3 hours Monday thru Friday while DD does gymnastics. I have a feeling that gymnastics is really going to start to cost me.

Yellowbirds.......Orange juice, pinapple juice, banana liquor, and rum. You will be  in no time. I will have these on occasion but I really prefer Crown Royal and diet coke. Diet coke is to keep the weight down :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Actually I am just used to the taste.

We are looking at a great weekend weather wise.......78 and sunny....does not get any better.

Have a great weekend

Dave

Dave - that yellow bird drinks sounds like my kinda of drink. ( I just wish they were not so heavy - yes for us that need to maintain our weight :goodvibes )

Wow - I like Fran's idea better of shopping in the mall while dd in in gymnastics. Unfortunately when my daughter is in gymnastics, all I have is 1 hour of shopping in Top Tomato :sad2:

Sunday is a big day for my dd - part of the gymanastics is for her cheerdleading. Big competition this Sunday - if we place we go to Fordham University next Sat. in the Bronx and then to Hershey for Mother's Day. I am exhausted.\

Welcome to the disbord and on the July 2nd cruise Jill. This is our third DCL cruise. I have a 19 yr. old son, a 17 yr. old son and a 12 yr. old daughter. I think this will be the last DCL cruise for my sons though. As much as they love it and have had great times, they are ready for a change. We might just do a four night with my dd a few years down the road - who knows, we shall see. They are dying to do an Alaska cruise or a cruise in Europe or just visit Italy. I said maybe in '07 - but with college and soon second son in college (and dh's in need of a new truck soon) - don't know how the savings will go.

Ask away.

wdw1014 - everytime we go away - I am determined not to overpack and bring the house with me. Everything is so casual today everywhere we/you go - trust me - no stress or worries about wardrobe. I say let them/be comfortable and just have a good time and have some wonderful memories with families and friends.

Glad to see us on page one.

If anyone has decided/booked any exercusions with a private company or plan on doing anything on your own - please post. Thank you.
